First Meeting
Jenn was late, as always. She had to get to school quickly, and of course her first class had an asshole of a professor who would kick late students out his class.
She threw her long brown hair into a messy ponytail, inhaled a granola bar, and put on the hoodie and jeans she wore at least one other time that week. Rushing was difficult for Jenn, but she pushed herself to run for the bus stop, needing to catch the quickest bus to university as she could.
As she approached the stop, she ran past a puff of smoke that she unfortunately took a huge intake of while passing by. She tried to keep running, but the fumes from the cigarette some random person was smoking got caught in her lungs and throat, slowing her down just a few feet away from the bus stop. She doubled over, wheezing and coughing as the familiar feeling of her throat closing up, suffocated her.
She fell to his knees, grabbing her throat while her other hand frantically patted her butt in search of something. Of course this had to happen right before school, not that it's anything new.
Jenn's asthma was a pain in the ass, and it often kicked her ass when it decided to try and kill her every now and then. She already has trouble with changing seasons due to the increase in pollen, struggles living in the suburbs due to partially polluted air, and she hated smokers. Smoke is what most often starts up her asthma attacks, the toxic s**t always making her collapse and gasp desperately for air.
So this wasn't anything new. She was used to crawling on the pavement trying to find her inhaler, and used to people just watching her in shock rather than helping. Not even the person smoking gave two shits about the asthmatic kid they nearly sent to the hospital. They seem to care more about their dumb cigarette than a random girl's life.
Though Jenn had expected this day to be like all the other days her asthma acts up, she was a bit taken aback to see a shadow standing over her and feel a hand on her back just moments after she collapsed. She looked up, squinting against the sun at a guy she'd never seen before.
She would've tried to look closer at her face if she weren't busy suffocating, but the quick glimpse she got of the guy's face was actually quite pleasant. At least for a first time quick glance.
He had dark black hair and looked pretty tall, though those were the only features she could make out at the time from her position.
"Hey, are you okay?" The stranger frantically asked.
"I-Inhaler..." Jenn croaked out, her voice difficult to use as she was still trying to intake as much air as her throat allowed her to.
The guy looked around, frowning at Jenn. "Uh, w-where is it?"
"Po-". Jenn wheezed instead of talked, quickly reaching for her back pocket. She felt a foreign hand on her butt, which probably belonged to the stranger trying to help her out, but it was quite uncomfortable to be fondled and choked at the same time. Jenn had heard of people having those kinks, but she knew for sure after this moment, she wasn't into it.
The guy ended up grabbing the inhaler and putting it in Jenn's mouth, watching Jess take over from there and take a few pumps. She pulled the inhaler from her mouth, chest heaving as she took in a copious amounts of air that her selfish throat wouldn't allow her to.
The stranger that had helped her was still by her side, patting Jenn on the back. "You alright? Do you need help?"
Jenn shook her head, waving away the offer. "I'm okay, just my asthma acting up..."
The guy frowned, tilting his head to the side. "That seemed like a whole attack to me, I don't know much about asthma but, you sure you don't need a doctor or something?"
"No it's fine, that one wasn't too bad." Jenn stated. She used to go to the doctor for them all the time, but the visits just became useless as the doctor kept repeating the same thing. She just had to live with it, and she's been trying to all on her own for the past couple of years.
The stranger stood up, brushing off his knees and outstretching his hand towards Jinyoung. "Oh... well, um, do you need help getting somewhere?"
Jess looked up while taking the random guy's hand, seeing the bus pull off. She sighed. "Well, I just missed the bus to school, so I guess I'm waiting for the next one..."
"Oh, what school?" The stranger questioned.
"The university not too far from here." Jenn answered as she stumbled to her feet, still gripping tightly onto the man's hand.
The stranger's lips spread into a wide cheery smile. "Why didn't you say so? I have a car, we can go together."
Jenn frowned as she was being led off by this unknown guy. "Wait, you go there too?"
He nodded, smiling back at Jenn. "Yeah, music major, you?"
"Um... business major, but I minor in music." Jenn mumbled.
"Oh, I see. Well, I don't mind giving you a ride. Don't wanna be late, right?" The guy asked.
Jenn tried to pull away, not wanting to burden this guy too much. Nor did she completely trust that he wasn't a serial killer just waiting for her to take the bait. "You don't have to, it's okay..."
"No, I insist. Come on." He stated, pulling Jenn along towards a bright red convertible.
Jenn had difficulty denying him; she didn't want to come off as an asshole. His cute face was a plus, but that didn't mean this guy was completely trustworthy.
She took in a breath, unsure of what she had just gotten herself into.
