THE RAIN DIDN'T LIE
The rain didn't ask permission - it just fell, like the truth she'd been hiding
Ella was pacing up and down in the living room staring at Roger's messages which said:
"I'm so sorry if I haven't been around lately, it's just that my mom was sick and I had to fill in for her at the shop, but I promise to make time for you"
She knew Roger wasn't at fault but she had started losing interest in the relationship but just didn't know how to tell him. The door opened and to her shock, it was Stanley, the one who had stolen her heart even while in a relationship, he was soaked to the shoes, then he spoke, "I didn't bring an umbrella cuz I knew your house would best dry me up,
She rolled her eyes at the flimsy excuse he made, but it did make her laugh, she laughed so hard she had to lean on his chest for support,
Stanley just stood there happy cus he'd been waiting for that moment all his life, and when she realised where her head was she started to raise it slowly and their faces were so close, their noses were practically touching,
Then silence fell, they both stared at each other like time had stopped just for that moment, then Stanley pushed a strand of her hair back, held her check then slowly started to lean in,
"I have a boyfriend," Ella whispered. But her heart didn't sound convinced.
"But you're not stepping back, that shows that you want this"
Their noses brushed. Ella's breath caught - but she didn't move away. Not yet.
He planted his lips on hers slowly and gently, she kissed him back,
"(I'm still in a relationship with Roger)", Ella thought, then she slowly stepped back, Stanley was hurt but he understood and respected her boundaries and left when the rain calmed down a bit.
