NEW RULES

NEW RULES Annie has been withdrawn since she met Frederick last week. Sarah had asked her about the change in attitude, but she couldn't say everything, so she blamed it on schoolwork. She hoped to develop something more feasible, else Sarah would find her out. She was hurt about Fred's reactions on their first meeting, and she also didn't like that he showed up at school. She didn't want that to happen again. She picks up her phone and dials Mrs. Westwood. The phone rings for a while, and then the line is engaged. "Hello, Annie sweetheart, '' Mrs. Westwood said in her usual chatty manner. "I'm fine, ma. I've been overwhelmed with school work, and that's why I haven't checked on you for a while now." "No problem, I understand. It's not easy, and I know. You children nowadays tend to bury your head deep in work." Annie smiled. Mrs. Westwood is a sweet woman. "Ma, please, can I get Frederick's number and address? I want to visit him." "Yes, dear, I'll send them to you now." Emilia ended the call with a smile on her face. She had to tell Albert about this new improvement. Their plans were coming to fruition. She couldn't hide her excitement. She headed to the study to meet Albert. She met him smoking his pipe, his head buried in a book. She hugged him from behind and planted a kiss on his cheek. One thing with her and Albert, over the years, their love has grown stronger and stronger. She loved him no matter what, and she knew he loved her despite his seemingly uptight attitude. "Honey, Annie just called me now to ask for Frederick's number and address. It looks like she's finally decided to go to him if he doesn't come to her." She mumbled. "Oh really, that's good. Our plans are finally working. We've waited long enough. I was beginning to grow weary." Albert replied. "Exactly what I thought as I ended the call with her. Finally, we'll have our grandchildren. I think we have a wedding to plan." She said, chuckling. Albert looked up at her and smiled. "Em, always looking for an opportunity to throw a party, aren't you?" "Well, what can I say? Our son is getting married." She said with a full-blown smile on her face. Albert stood up, planted a kiss on her lips, and led her to the patio so they could discuss. Annie got the text from Emilia, and she didn't know what to do with it. She didn't know how to call Frederick and ask him outrightly not to come to her school anymore. She didn't want to blow her chances with him. She had already spent a long time thinking about this marriage, and she realized that it was the best for her and her parents. She didn't want to disappoint them. She could also love Frederick. He wasn't bad-looking, and he didn't seem like the wrong person. Maybe they could make things work. But first, she needed to make sure she had the upper hand. She got up from her bed and started getting ready for school. This was her last year in college, and she didn't want to jeopardize it in any way. She got to school and went through her day in a daze. She was distracted by the thought of Frederick and how to make things work. She wanted to change the narrative and have them at her mercy, not the other way round. She figured that they were desperate and needed a wife for their son and continuity of the Westwood legacy, and she could give it to them. She could sense the excitement in Emilia's voice when she called earlier. She hoped to use it in her favor. She finally knew what to do. She finishes at school and hurries home, not even waiting for Sarah because I owe her an apology. Annie thought, but that would have to wait for the time being because she had a lot of things to do. She gets home, writes a list of rules that will guide the relationship between her and Frederick, and puts it in an envelope. She practiced in front of the mirror how she would talk to Frederick without stuttering, but it was a waste of time. She was tense, so she decided to sleep it off and go to his place in the evening.
