CHAPTER 5

1263 Words
“Grandma Betty?” Lily asked, confused. “Yes, I’ve known her for a pretty long time and she can be very stubborn and demanding whenever we try to make a deal.” Viktor sighed. “You’ll understand once you meet her, but let’s get you changed first.” He said before zooming off. The car ride to the mall was silent before Viktor turned on the speaker, putting on some music to avoid an awkward silence. “This song!” Lily exclaimed.“I didn’t know you listened to Taylor swift.” Lily said in excitement as the song came on. “There are alot of things you don’t know about me.” Viktor said firmly. Lily smiled at his response. For the rest of the journey, Lily just kept humming to the songs that came on. They got to the shopping mall after a few more minutes. They both stepped out from the car, Lily finally got a good look at Viktor who was dressed in a navy blue shirt and black pants. Leaving Lily wondering how he could look so effortlessly stunning even in casual wears. “Let’s try here.” Viktor said, pointing to a designer shop. It was dazzling and sparkling, different clothes, shoes and bags were on display and every single one of them looked gorgeous. “Welcome.” The saleswoman greeted them. “What would you like sir?” She asked. “Anything you think would look good on her.” Viktor replied. “I think your wife would look good in anything sir and I have just the perfect one.” The saleswoman said as she took a look at Lily, scanning her. Lily's face turned red immediately, embarrassed. “Of course, my wife would.” He said with sarcasm evident in his voice, making Lily more embarrassed. “Come this way ma’am.” The saleswoman said, leading Lily to the aisle of clothes. Viktor sat on the couch waiting for them to pick out a dress. After few minutes, the saleswoman came back with Lily hiding behind her. “As expected, she looks stunning in everything.” The saleswoman said, a proud and fulfilled smile plastered on her lips. Viktor stood up and walked closer to get a view of Lily. The saleswoman gave him space. She walked away from Lily and stood by the side. Viktor gasped lightly once he got a perfect view of Lily. She was wearing a slitted pink dress and a white knitted bolero shrug, glamoured with a pair of white heels. Lily wasn’t used to wearing dresses like this and furthermore Viktor was staring right at her, making her nervous. “We’ll take this.” Viktor said satisfied. They fixed her silky shoulder length hair, dropping it down her shoulder, releasing it from the bun. “This feels weird.” Lily said to Viktor as he walked closer. “You look good, there’s nothing to be worried about.” He said blankly but Lily could feel the sincerity in his voice. “Thank you.” With that, they left the mall and headed straight to Grandma Betty’s. [LILY’S POV] “By the way, I’ve been meaning to ask sir. Why didn’t you just get an actual fiancée? I’m pretty sure you could have gotten anyone you wanted.” I said breaking the silence. Curious as to why a young and handsome man such as himself would get into a fake relationship. “I have no interest in that.” He answered casually. “No interest in that?” I gasped in realization, put my hands over my mouth. “You should have told me if that was the case.” I said, unable to hide the concern in my tone. “What the hell are you thinking?” Viktor said confused, glancing at me before looking back at the road. “We’re in the twenty-first century sir, I’m a very open minded person and I’m very sure this Grandma Betty will get it if you explain to her that you don’t swing that way.” I urged, thinking of how hard it must have been for him. Viktor immediately pulls over at my word. I looked at him confused. “Why did you suddenly stop?” I asked, shocked. Viktor turned. His eyes now meeting mine. He leans in forward, his face just inches away from mine. Just when I thought my heart was about to burst, he grabs my face gently bringing it closer to his. For a moment I completely forgot how to breathe. His deep brown eyes dug into mine. His lips just inches away, almost brushing mine. I could feel his warm breath on the nape on my neck sending shivers down my spine. “I assure you Lily Evans, I definitely swing that way.” His low and husky voice said in a whisper. I could feel the fireworks in my head go off at his words. “And it’s Viktor to you, not sir.” He said. “Is- is that so?” I stuttered. He pulled back, getting back into his seat before zooming off again, acting like nothing happened. After that, I dared not say a word till we got to our destination. We arrived at a huge mansion. The gates opened as soon as Viktor got right in front of it. In front of the entrance of the mansion, there were about ten men waiting. Five on the right, five on the left. My heart sank. Was this the person Viktor was trying to deceive? It was a reckless and dangerous plan. As soon as Viktor stopped the car in front, one of the men came to open the door and bowed, greeting Viktor. Viktor stepped out, walking towards the other side of the door. He opened it and stretched out his hand for me to grab. I reluctantly placed my hands on his, he pulled me out of the car gently. “Now the real battle begins.” Viktor said. I gulped hard before we started walking into the mansion. “Welcome boss!” All the men at the entrance greeted simultaneously. Boss? Why were they calling Viktor boss? That thought didn’t last long when we got inside the mansion. A golden chandelier hanging from the huge ceiling reflecting its light on everything making it look like a dreamy castle. “What do we have here?” An old and rusty voice said. My eyes fell on the figure coming from one of the hallways. “Good to see you’re still here Grandma Betty.” Viktor said. “Grandma Betty?” I uttered. My mouth dropped when she finally came into view. “I thought she was supposed to be an old woman.” I said, nudging Viktor between our intertwined hands. “She is, she just looks younger than she is. She’s a witch I tell you.” “You know I can hear you right?” Grandma Betty said as she walked closer, the sound of her cane echoed around the house. She was now right in front of us. Her eyes fell on me. She looked at me from head to toe accessing me. “Good day ma’am. Nice to meet you. My name is Lily Evans, Viktor’s fiancée.” I greeted trying to hide how nervous I was. Grandma Betty just stood there in silence. Her presence was intimidating. “You..” she said in a menacing voice. My heart started racing. Did she find us out already? I squeezed my hands over Viktor’s.
