I was still trying to calm down when we got to the club, but I couldn’t put this off any longer because the kids were getting restless. I took a moment to try and calm myself before saying, ““no matter how you feel or what happens in this meeting you will not yell or fight. Anyone that wants to argue can get out of the meeting and anyone that tries to fight will not be allowed at my house for an undetermined amount of time. It’s a lot to ask and it’s going to be a lot to take in, but I need everyone to be calm so nobody gets hurt physically or emotionally.” I could see the puzzled looks on their faces at my words, but they both nodded in agreement and I jumped out of the car leading them to the meeting. Brix was standing outside the room waiting for us and Stix was either inside or at the bar, but that didn’t matter at the moment. All that mattered to me was getting into that room and lifting some of the pain that Storm has been carrying around for so long. At my okay Brix opened the door for us and I hoped that this would go okay.
I grabbed Storm’s hand just as we walked into the room and said, “I know that you have been harboring pain since your parents were murdered and your sister was taken. I can’t take all of that pain away, but I’m hoping that today can heal some of it. Storm this is my cousin Dax, his kids Jack and Bella, and this is his wife Adira.” I heard a gasp behind me that I’m assuming came from Tristan, but my eyes were locked on Storm. He was frozen in place with his eyes wide open staring at Adira. Looking at her she had tears in her eyes as she took in her brother. They both thought they had lost each other forever and now neither of them moved for fear of breaking this moment. I gently nudged Storm while Dax did the same to Adira before he said, “it’s okay. This is real and neither of you will disappear if you move.” That seemed to be what they needed to break out of their shock and embrace each other. They were clutching each other like they never wanted to let go and Adira was full on sobbing now. They stayed like that until we heard little Jack say, “daddy why is mommy crying? I don’t want mommy to cry.”
That seemed to snap them out of it and Dax scooped up little Jack before saying, “mommy is crying happy tears. She hasn’t seen your uncle Storm in a very long time.” I was seconds from crying myself if she didn’t stop so I was definitely glad for the interruption. When I felt someone walk up behind me and hug me I knew that it was Brix and I knew that he could feel that I needed him. We were raised as cousins, but we were actually siblings. We may not have been as as I was with Thane, but he just seemed to get me without a word needing to be said. Storm caught sight of us and I could see the anger start brewing on his face and luckily Brix knew better than the others because he let me go before backing away. Adira had left Storm’s side to comfort little Jack so he made his way over to me and wrapped his arms around me. After a moment he leaned down and whispered, “thank you so much for bringing my sister back to me. I will spend every day of the rest of our lives trying to be worthy of you and our kids.” We all took a seat around the table so they could talk about what happened. I tried to take the kids out of the room, but Storm pulled me into his lap and wouldn’t let me go so Brix grabbed them instead. With the kids out of the room the story started to flow and I could feel his emotions through his grip on me. I looked over to see Tristan struggling with the story as well so I reached over and squeezed his arm letting him know that he wasn’t alone. He gave me a small smile and dipped his head slightly in acknowledgment.
