Bella's POV -
My drive to work is roughly 7-9 minutes. If I walk or bike it takes about 30-60 so most mornings when I am running behind, I hop into my jeep and drive in. I am the owner of the clinic. When I moved here, I practiced under Dr. Cynthia Grant whom has since retired and sold me her practice. The clinic is just big enough with 6 exam rooms, 3 offices, and a small waiting area. Besides me, I hired one of my good friends, James Mcnash. He is the pediatrician, we have Esther, who is our receptionist (yes, she is the cutest nana in the world at 63 years old) lastly, Sofia and Katie are our nurses. With my residency, I spent most of my time in emergency medicine in New York City and to say I ran out of there as fast as possible would be an understatement, so I am a family doctor while also managing our urgent care patients.
I have been the owner for a little over a year now and we have finally figured out a smooth system. Thanks to Esther, she is my administrative angel that is holding the place together. Every Monday morning, I stop at Charlette's Bakery and get a dozen donuts and coffee for the team. Besides Esther we are all younger than 40 which makes the work place.. Let's just say interesting. Before me owning it, there was no nurses Cynthia and I would room our own patients and run all our own tests, which was very time-consuming, so once I hired Sofia and Katie they took over all that. When I hired James, the girls went crazy over him. He is 32 years old with dirty blonde hair that is always messy to perfection, stands 6ft 3in, a chiseled jaw line and dimples for days. He is quite attractive but we have not discussed anything more than friends.
"Good Morning Esther". I welcome walking in the door, even though we don't open for another 15 minutes she is always here before me. "My sweets!" She replies, grabbing the food from my hands and setting them on the tablet behind her, I sneak around her and set the coffee down beside the food. "What messages await us today?" I ask trying to sounds positive. "You have 6 from patients, 2 lab results, and 3 calls from your brother". Taking them from her, I read the ones from Eli "Hey, can I bring Chris next week for your birthday", "Get your ass to work and call me" "Monday morning I expect a call at 8:01am". I chuckle as I read the messages. Esther asks "Haven't you fixed your Wi-Fi at home yet?" Since I live outside of town, the service is terrible, so without Wi-Fi I might as well live off the grid. I smile sweetly, "No and I don't think I will fix it."
Walking into my office, I throw my purse on the couch and slip on one of my lab coats, as I open up my computer I wait for it to wake up to review the schedule for the day. Drinking a big gulp of coffee, I find 10 new emails "UGH". Looking through them, it is all billing and our venders we use asking about this month's orders. "Looks like I will be here late tonight". Just as I say that, James knocks and peaks around my door "Good morning Bella, how was your weekend?" he looks good today with his khaki pants and fitted light blue button up rolled up to his elbows so you can see his muscles bulge and his tattoos on his forearms. "Oh good, got a lot done around the house. How about you?" I say. "It was good, you should have joined Sophia, Katie, and I for karaoke on Saturday!" I reply like always with "Yeah! Maybe next time." After a pause "It looks like I have 22 patients today and you have 17, SO that means you get to get lunch!" I chuckle at him. His eyebrows furrow " Our system is really backwards shouldn't whoever has the most patients have to get lunch?" Smirking, I reply "Nope, how am I supposed to encourage you to get more people in if you don't have to buy lunch most days?" Walking away, I hear him laugh with a faint MMHMMM.
After the girls arrive, we have a break down of the day and who is working with who. We like to switch off with Sophia and Katie to keep their skills up and to keep it fair for them, since my schedule is faster paced and James has child and adolescent patients. My 4th patient of the day called and won't be making it, so I found time to talk with Eli. I really don't want him to bring Chris since it has been 8 years since I last saw anyone besides my family from the pack, but apparently he needs to get away from his irritating fiancé Whitney (at least that is what Eli said) I have never met her since she is from a neighboring pack. They aren't fated mates, but since Chris will be turning 30 in a year and hasn't met his fated mate, he will have a chosen mate. 'So wait another wolf will be coming next weekend I can play with?' Novah asks through our mind link I giggle a little and reply with 'yes, but take it easy on him he is the alpha and no tricks got it!' 'yes mom maybe he is our mate' she responds to hopeful for my liking but she cuts the link before I can respond since we will probably get into a fight if I do.
The morning flew by. I had 9 patients this morning with one cancelling and one not showing up. James walks into my office and slouches onto the couch. "You know I put a couch in your office for you to relax in so you don't have to hog mine!' I smirk at him. "Want to go to the farmers market for lunch" he asks. Mondays are my favorite since the local farmers market is on. I nod my head and grab my purse while taking off my lab coat. James runs to his office and throws his coat in there, "You are the messiest out of all of us, look at your office" I scold him for throwing his coat in there. "Kkk, mom" as we walk out the building. I am starting to think I need to take the hint and let loose with all these mom comments. 'You think?' Novah adds sarcastically. I just roll my eyes at her.
