The Difference Between Life and Death

    The difference between life and death is the thing about the dead is that they are just as alive as you and I are. A 17 year old boy discovers that death doesn't mean that you're really dead and that death is only the beginning of the rest of your life. When 17 year old Cameron Quinn is murdered by someone he trusted the most his whole world was turned upside down everyone was frantic to find out who killed the young and innocent 17 year old. They are shocked when the case is put to rest but one person who had their own agenda.   Poor Cameron's case went unsolved until now. It was a normal day for Cameron he got up got dressed and went to school it started out like any other day his classes went by like they always do but what he didn't know was his day wasn't going to stay the same. He was sitting in 8th period science answering a question when he got a bad feeling little did he know how bad it really was he had no idea how of what was coming when he got home and that he would die for no reason at all by the hand of someone he trusted and cared about with all his heart and even with his life because of who they were.   But as the school day ended the tragic feeling grew stronger and stronger the closer he got to home the more intense it was and he knew it was not good so he took his time on the long way home. When he got home he sat in his car for a while and waited until he thought it was safe to go in his house. When Cameron went in he went straight to his room and he did his homework when he was done he got on his laptop and watched some videos on YouTube, he watched them for a while and then he stared listening to music and reading his book when the feeling of anger and hatred returned and he knew the feeling was coming from someone very close to him but he could not tell from who. He sat there and thought for a while of who the anger and hatred could be coming from and most importantly why they were angry and at who but he couldn't think of who would be that full of anger and hatred for no known reason that he could see of but he couldn't help but wonder why someone would feel like that towards a single human alone he sat and wondered just why or what that person did to make the person feel this way about them. Cameron wondered that until he fell asleep later that night.   He did not dream he just wondered about that very thing all he could feel was that anger and hatred from that single person and he just wondered and worried about the person that felt that very pain and hatred for no reason. Why would anyone have that much anger and hatred towards anyone or anything at all he just couldn't think of why anyone would feel that way? Would they do something about it?   Later that night he realized he was hungry so he went downstairs to get a snack when he got back to his room he decided to get back on his laptop he looked up a few shows then murders in the past day/month/year to see if it happened anywhere near him. It showed a murder of a 16 year old boy right where he lived in east Liverpool, England.   When he read the story, he told his parents about it the next morning his mother was very shocked to hear but his father acted as if he didn't care at all what he said. He could tell his father was annoyed with him but why he didn't know.   His family didn't know about his what would you call it oh yeah “gift” because they would treat him differently if they found out they would treat him as if he were not human or for better words as a freak and then he would never fit in again. The whole time he talked he felt this bad vibe coming from his father and it got stronger the more he told he could tell his dad was hiding something from him and his mother but what was it?   He could tell it was something very strong and powerful and also extremely evil coming from him Cameron could see it in his father's eyes but if only he could see what it was he was hiding from them and why was he hiding it?   This must be really bad to hide. When he finished his father's vibe was stronger than ever almost identical to the one with the anger and the hatred that he felt before at school and when he was driving home and also when he was sitting upstairs in his bedroom not too long ago so he got up and went back up to his room to read more of the murder files but he kept thinking about what he felt coming from his dad just downstairs with his mom.   He had no clue that his dad was responsible for the murder of that 16 year old boy that he had read about and had no clue what was going to happen next so over the next few days he watched over his father and what he felt during school. They kept growing day by day and he wondered who these feelings could be coming from and for what reason were they feeling such anger and hatred so strongly towards one person for. But his question was why?   How could someone feel this and stay this way for so long and these emotions seem to keep growing with each day that goes by. He wonders if his father's emotions are ever going to decrease from the stage that they are at. He can tell the thing his father is hiding is getting harder to hide from him and his mother doesn't even notice.   He decided to go back over the reported murders to see if the clues fit together about what his father is feeling but he is still not sure about the feeling of anger and hatred that keep coming back to him and won't go away he can't help but for how much they make him think and wonder about his own father.   Cameron is really confused but most of all worried that if it is his father is he going to kill again and if so who and why? He could not understand how they connected and how his father could be a murderer if he was when did he start killing people or was this his first victim in some sick murderous fantasy.     How could he be a murderer and kill an innocent young boy of his age he could not help but wonder why and once again he went to bed thinking about that boy. He wondered why it never said the boy's name. He did not dream again that night he again just wondered about his father and that boy he had read about.     He woke up about 3:00 am and managed to fall back asleep until his alarm went off for him to get up and go to school. While at school the day went by like it always did and so did his classes but the drive home took longer than usual. It felt like a life time had went by when he finally pulled in the drive his mother was the only one home when he got there so he headed up to his room to see if he could tell what his father was feeling.   To no surprise his father was full of anger and hatred just like before.  Cameron just could not think of what to do about his own father and what to do if he tried to kill him or his mother how would he defend the both of them.  Why would his dad do such a thing to someone so young and so innocent of his age?     He still wondered why someone would want to kill someone so innocent. Then it clicked. He was killing to distract himself from killing his main target because he would not succeed in killing them without getting caught. He wondered and tried to figure out who his father would want to kill but no one came to mind. Just thinking about it caused the anger and hatred to return but stronger this time. It had never been this strong was this person planning on killing again.   He thought for a minute and knew it had to be someone very close to him for it to be this strong and for it to be around for all this time. But again why all this for nothing to happen. There is something up with this but what was it and how long could it possible last without them having a psychotic break. So he decided to go down and ask where his father was.   “Mom where is dad?” Cameron asked, but his mother didn't reply he could tell she was hiding something from him and it had to do with his father and was it important that he knew was she in danger why wouldn't she tell him. He could feel her fear and how worried she was but why. He went back upstairs and called his dad. He answered. “Where are you?” Cameron asked. “On my way back from the store.” replied his dad. “Mom seems worried and scared about something do you know why?” he asked his father and there was a pause on the other end of the phone then his father spoke again: “I don't know why.” and with that he hung up on Cameron.   He could tell he was lying so he went over and locked his door and windows and waited. He heard his dad come in he had asked his mom to tell his dad he wasn't home so she did but he didn't believe her so Cameron unlocked his door and hid so his dad wouldn't find him. He didn't.   So after his dad left the room he crawled out his window and came back 2 hours later and went straight to his room and got on his computer after he did his homework and watched some videos and fell asleep. He awoke to an extreme feeling of hatred. Then his dad walked in the room with a big knife and started toward him with murderous intent in his cold gaze, that was when it clicked in his mind. All the anger and the hatred was towards him from his father.   Why had he not realized it was his father?  He looked up at his father as he slowly walked toward him there was no warmth no love in the eyes of his dad nothing but hate.   That's when it hit him his father was going to kill him in cold blood. Like he had killed that other 16 year old boy he had read about in the paper had he realized it was him maybe he could have gotten out sooner, he should have paid more attention. Had he not been at school he could have searched deeper into what he was feeling but now it was too late. Still his father inched closer with the knife aimed for his heart.   His anger and hatred and grown stronger now than ever and then he made his move. He struck at him but missed the first time but not the second time. He got him in the chest and then pain spread throughout his chest then he felt nothing. He knew he was dead but not because he was on his way to Heaven or Hell but because he was staring at his corpse, his father watched as he bled out and all life left his eyes then he covered Cameron's body up and walked out the door and down the stairs to bed.   Sometime later his mother came upstairs to wake him up for school and what she found wasn't pleasant. She walked over and moved the blanket aside to find her son dead in a pool of blood his blood. All Cameron could do is watch as all color drained from his mother's face as she ran downstairs to tell his father but he didn't care or do anything.   His mother called the police and told them that she had found her son dead that he had been stabbed in the chest and there was a lot of blood. But what they did not know is that Cameron was standing in the kitchen watching how everything would play out and how his father would react. His father was starting to get worried that they would find out that it was him who had killed Cameron.   When the police arrived he told them that Cameron had been depressed and had been saying that he was going to kill himself and that was probably what he had done. So they believed him...Until now. At the morgue they decided to take a better look at the wound and that was when they discovered that the wound wasn't self-inflicted that someone else had killed him.   They knew the mother was too small and frail but not the father. As the investigation continued Cameron began leaving clues for them to find and to catch him so he couldn't kill again. They finally found the knife in the chest of his father some time later. They never found out who killed him but how could they. If you guessed Cameron you guessed right, he found the knife and killed his father the way he killed him.   To their surprise Cameron's mother stayed in the very house her husband and son were killed in. She would sleep in different rooms every night but found the most comfort in Cameron's room. Many weeks have passed since his death and she still thinks of Cameron but what she doesn't know is that her son is much closer than she thinks. He stops by every day to watch her and make sure she is alright. He misses her so much and hopes she will recover soon.     Shortly after his death Cameron was approached by two men who told him that they were Descendants of Darkness and that they are the protectors of the underworld and all of those who enter it. They also told him that he will be assigned a partner to help him cope with what he is going through and how to deal with it.   He was told that because he died of an unfair death that now he was a guardian of death and that his new partner will train him his name is Matthew Lake. Matthew also died an unruly death 96 years ago and still looks in his 20's like he was when he went in to his coma and sometime later his family decided to let him die and now he helps those in need.   Matthew wasn't very happy when he found out that he had to work with a 16 year old boy. He figured that by now he would be rude and harsh towards others but that wasn't the case at all. Once they finally met Matthew discovered that Cameron was just lost and in desperate need of guidance, currently they are working on a rather large case together about a missing girl from one of the royal families that turned up dead and now they are looking for the killer of the eldest daughters of 3 royal families that were all living normal lives and shortly after they went missing they showed up dead and now the families will do anything to find who killed their daughters and why anyone would only harm the eldest daughter.   There was no apparent connection other than the fact of them all being royal and being the eldest daughter. They were on their way to investigate and interview the families and to see where they were and what they were doing the night they disappeared and also to see if there was anyone who hated or disliked the girls or would try to harm them in anyway. They worked for many hours that day until they had to leave but what they didn't know is that Cameron had found something.   A diary in the first girl's room that they had visited and tomorrow he would check the next girl's room for one. In the diary she mentioned a fight with a guy over a break-up and he said that if he couldn't have her no one could and Cameron put each piece of information that he found together and that was when he noticed a pattern between all three of the girls. They all dated the same guy.   He said the same thing to each girl when they broke up. But now it was time to find out who this guy was because the girls were home-schooled and he would have had to be close to the girls to get into their houses and had to be charming but who was he and how did he get in to them. Don't they have people to protect them or something like in the books but not in this case he was trusted around these girls maybe a tutor or family friend.   When they got back to the office he showed Matthew what he found and they went back to the crime scene to get a closer look and see if they could find anything else at the crime scene. They found a piece of paper with   blood on it but there wasn't any blood at the crime scene perhaps the killer slipped up and dropped something. End Chapter 1
