The Wolf Who Saved Me.

Pain. I've felt it. Lived it. Breathed it in. It needs to be felt. I've had my fair share of it. Try as I might, I can't seem to escape from my reality. As I lay here on the forest floor, ready to give in to the cold, the darkness, the loneliness that's been my only company, I dream about the day when I will no longer feel this pain. My past is daunting, and my present, well, let's just say it's less than great right now, too, but for my future? I have hope. and hope is all we really have, isn't it? Let me start from the beginning. My name is Amora Risengaurd, 3rd child to a family of nobodies. I have an older brother, James, older sister, Anne, and a younger brother, Orion. My mother is heavily disabled now, and my father passed away a few years ago. I wouldn't say I was nessesarily neglected as a child, but I definitely wasn't on the top priority list. Being an omega family meant taking odd jobs and never staying in one place. If we couldn't make rent, my parents would find another landlord in the kingdom to con into letting us stay there. of course, they would rope in their long-time friends into the lies they spewed to pull the strings, but that's neither here nor there, and not really important to this story. It'd be ok for a couple of years, but then dad would lose his job, and on the move we would be, again. It was sad, but it was our way of life, and I was just a child, so I had no say. Making friends was hard, but the ones I made stayed, and that's all that counts in my book. That's how I ended up here. Bloody and bruised and on the ground. Well, I guess that's not exactly true. I met my mate, and that's where the pain really begind. We get our wolves at whatever age we hit puberty, and so for me, I was 9. We don't shift for the first time until we are 18, unless you're a late bloomer, but we get our wolves early so we can connect and form strong bonds with them. My beautiful wolf's name is Monroe. She has the most beautiful blue grey eyes and brown-blonde fur. She is kind and smart, and everything I could ask for in a wolf. I'd be lost without her. Anyway, one day, I was walking to the library when the most intoxicating smell of vanilla and melted caramel hit my nose. It stopped me completely in my tracks. I looked around, but I couldn't find where the smell was coming from, so I just continued on my way. As soon as I walked into the library, though, I was met with blue eyes. "Mate! Amara, that's our mate! go to him!" Monroe screamed inside my head My eyes widened. No, no, it can't be him! Rhysand Blackheart was the next in line to be Alpha. There wasn't a she-wolf in the entire pack who didn't want to be mated to him. He was supposed to be gone to alpha training for another year. Why was he here? completelt forgetting my task at hand, I turned to run. I can't be here right now. Im making my way outside into the hallway when I'm halted in my steps. My arm was pulled back in a tight grip, tingles and pain were shooting up my arm as I spun around, coming face to face, with my very angry mate. The look in his eyes told me everything I needed to know. He didn't want me, and he was confused, but most of all, he was very, very mad. "Monroe, this is not good," I said to my wolf.
