Richard growled. "That slimy -"
I watched as a wolf attacked Richard, taking him to the ground in a flash of claws, fangs, and fur. I screamed. "Stop! Stop it!"
"Run Luna!" Richard's voice echoed in my head.
No. No, I couldn't just run away when my Beta needed me. I clenched my jaw and balled my fists. Determination coursed through me like never before. "I said STOP!" My voice echoed through the forest.
"Lu--na, n-need to br--eathe." Richard tried to gasp for air.
"Ah! Breathe!" I watched them both gulp in air like they were drowning. "Now, who are you?" I looked dead at the other wolf. His fur was an almost black gray color.
He narrowed his eyes at me. "You can't even tell your own pack members apart. So pathetic!"
I knew that voice. "Gamma Jace. Why did you attack us?"
"This traitorous fool needs to die! Along with his fake Luna!" Jace growled at me. "My pack will never be ruled by a pathetic human!"
I balled my fists. "Jace, for one, I don't know what I am and two, as Luna to this pack, I hereby strip you from your Gamma status, therefore, making you an omega." I felt the power ripple through me as well as felt Jace' rank drop to omega. Turning to look right at Richard, I said; "Take me to the pack. Now."
Richard shivered at my command and nodded his big wolf head.
In no time at all, I was back at the house that I was taken to after my episode with my song. Richard linked the whole pack to meet in the living room.
As soon as everyone was settled, I stood up from where I was sitting on the couch. My heart was pounding again. "Everyone." Richard called out. They all stopped their chattering and looked right at him. "This is our Luna, Arabella." He paused and went to go on, but I gently touched his arm.
With a nod and from him, a bow, I headed right into talking. "Hello. I am Arabella. I am your Luna. I never got the chance to get to know your Alpha. Sadly, he was killed in front of me right after our first meeting. I do hope we all get along despite not being fully mated to the Alpha before he died. Now, I'm sure you are all aware that Gamma Jace is no longer Gamma. I have demoted him to an omega after attacking Beta Richard with the intent to kill him and myself afterward." I paused and watched as my words sunk in. "Sadly, I still feel the challenge Jace placed on me while he was still Gamma. So, as my right, I may choose a fighter in my place as I am not a werewolf. " Richard had filled me in that I could choose a fighter due to not having a wolf. Unfortunately for him, he was the only wolf I knew now that Arron had died. "I choose my fighter to be Richard, and I hope that we all can get along with one another."
Richard placed his hand on my trembling shoulder. "I Richard, accept to be your fighter, Luna." He said out loud. "Everything will be okay." His voice whispered in my mind.
'I hope so..' I thought to myself.
"It will be. I will win for you. You are my Luna, and I will give my life to protect you." I looked at Richard, and he gave me a cheeky smile. "You are talking to me through your mind. Your role and right, as Luna are helping you to become more adapted to our way of life."
I giggled a little. Becoming more of a werewolf sounded a little funny to me. I mean, I grew up around humans. Was raised as a human, so being more than just human sounded silly to me.
That night, I slept in the guest room right next to Richard's room. I was told that I could take over Arron's room, but I was not ready for that. Plus, being in this room felt more comfortable. Simply because Richard has been by my side for 6 months, and I felt like I could trust him.
The next morning, I was woken by someone knocking on my door. Dragging myself out of bed, I opened the door and saw Richard's smiling face. "Good morning, Luna." He beamed.
I rubbed my eyes and looked at the clock. It was 10 in the morning. I gasped and ran to get something to wear, but stopped the second I realized I had not brought anything for myself to wear! "Crap!" I groaned.
"Here, Luna. You can wear some on my clothes for today. They will be big, though.."
I looked over at him as he stood in the doorway. "Thanks." I smiled at him.
"Get dressed, and then we can go eat. We have a big day ahead of us." He smiled and shut the door as he left.
A big day? This was going to be a long day, not a big day.
