Chapter 3

I woke up to growling coming from my living room along with the sound of someone pacing. I slowly walked towards the living room. "I told you already, I will not be back for some time, Gamma! Our Luna needs time to train to be the strongest she can be." There seemed to be a voice on the other end of the phone call that was persistent on him going back. "Gamma Jace!" Richard growled his name in a threatening tone. "As temporary leader of this pack, I order you to back down!" A strong urge to take them phone from him came over me and before I could stop myself, I took the phone. "This is your Luna speaking. You will report to me immediately!" I hung up the phone and tossed it onto the couch. I took a deep breath and turned to face Richard. I gasped when I saw him bowed down on his knees. "W-what are you doing?" "Your command is strong, Luna. I can feel it radiating off you as I felt it with my Alpha. You are powerful, my Luna." Within thirty minutes, a car pulled up in front of my house and a tall, muscular man walked up to my door. I didn't bother giving him a chance to knock on the door. I just opened the door with a glare right at him. "Sit on the couch. Now." I commanded him. He listened and sat on the couch, but not once did he lower his head to me. Richard had told me that lowing ones head is a sign of respect and loyalty. "I'm here." He growled low at me. I felt a pang in my chest. His disrespect was causing anger to rise within me. "One, I am your Luna and you will respect me as such. Two, what is so important that you would disrupt my training with my Beta?" "One, you are not my Luna. My Alpha died and that leave his position open for taking, to which I will be going for. Two, a mere human like you couldn't even be anywhere near as strong as a werewolf is at their weakest. So, why don't you just go and live on with your life and don't ever breathe a word about us werewolves to anyone." His words were laced with growls and I watched as his eyes switched from brown to gold as his wolf kept surfacing. I clenched my jaw tightly and saw from the corner of my eye, Richard getting closer in a protective and threatening manner. "Back down, Richard!" I yelled and immediately he bowed his head to me. Jace' eyes widened at the power of my command towards Richard, but he quickly hid it behind a scowl. "I, Gamma Jace, hereby challenge you, Luna Arabella, for the rights of the pack and hence forth, be Alpha." I shivered as the challenge was brought to words. Clenching my fists, I spoke; "I, Luna Arabella, accept your challenge." Jace shivered as the challenge was accepted. "Tomorrow, at dusk. We will fight to either submission or death for the rights to the pack " With that out in the open, Jace walked out of my house, slamming the door as he left. I held my chest and my heart pounded. "I need the forest." I whispered to Richard. He helped me get to the forest where I began to sing my song. Wild wolves howled near and far. Some came closer, looking to be touched and pat. I already knew that tomorrow was going to be difficult. With my song ended and the wolves gone, I let out a sigh. How was I supposed to fight a high rank werewolf and win to keep the pack? Jace didn't feel like a worthy Alpha. He didn't give me any good feelings. I let out another sigh. "It will be okay, Luna." I heard Richard say. I turned to look at him, he was in his wolf form. His smokey gray fur looking super soft. I put my forehead on his and sighed yet again. "I don't think I will win. I'm not strong like you are. I'm human, I think." He chuckled. "You are already stronger than you know." "But how? How do you know this? Why do you think this? I'm just a human being. I have no wolf in me. Just a strange song that charms all creatures to do as I wish." He chuckled again. "Luna, what form am I in?" "You're in your wolf form, I--" I gasped and stepped back a few steps. Finally realizing what he was implying. "Oh my! I can hear you! I shouldn't be able to hear you! Werewolves can't talk in their wolf form! How!?" My breath was rapid and my heart raced. "Hey, calm down. Everything is fine. I--" A loud howl sounded nearby cutting off what Richard was about to tell me. I looked around. "Who was that?" I whispered.
