Burt knew what was going on the other dragon was experiencing its growth stage and her rider’s condition was poor, to say the least making her lose control of herself and letting her instincts take over. Burt sped off in the direction where the dragon’s rider pointed them towards, a few minutes later Burt had already seen the dragon in the distance it seemed because of her bloodthirsty instincts her speed had drastically slowed down, Burt flew closer and started shooting bursts of flames intending to knock her down but all his shots missed it seemed although her speed had decreased her flexibility and evasion were still strong. Burt dodged the silver flames the female dragon had released in retaliation, and when he was sure he had her attention he started guiding the fight towards a less populated and secluded area.
Drage watched with burning anxiety as Burt and Shriller started fighting, although it was at present only a fight through flames Drage knew the fight would get brutal as long as the fight continued, also Fenn’s hand was on the throwing axe resting on his waist, ready to let the dangerous weapon fly at any moment to incapacitate shriller. Soon Burt and shriller were fighting with their teeth and claws, Burt couldn’t make some special manoeuvres since he still had Fenn and Drage on his back but Burt had a plethora of fighting experience so he was able to fight to a draw with shriller. Drage’s eyes couldn’t keep up with the fight anymore, Burt and shriller were moving too fast making difficult movements in the air and the burst of flames that clouded the skies didn’t help his vision either, but Drage noticed Fenn’s eyes seemed to be locked onto shriller, he wasn’t affected by the chaotic movements of the dragons. Drage was still trying to catch a glimpse of the fight when suddenly he heard a short sharp whistle in the air, Drage quickly turned his sights towards where he heard the sound and he found a sharp axe embedded in Shriller’s wings.
Drage was thrown instantly into a panic, he wanted to try and help but shriller was already crashing towards the Rocky Mountains below. “help her” Drage growled with panic and anger unconcealed in his tone as he spoke. Fenn turned his gaze to Drage and saw the pleading present in his eyes, Fenn stared for a while before he sighed and nudged Burt to catch up with the silver dragon who was struggling to flap her one good wing to delay her descent speed. Burt caught up and used his tail to drag the badly injured wing and helped her land safely. Drage seeing that shriller was going to land safely quickly leapt from Burt’s rough and broad back and landed on Shriller’s silver smooth one. Although she was subconsciously resisting her struggles had reduced when she felt she was being held but the brutality in her eyes hadn’t weakened in the slightest, as her feet were not too far from the rocky grounds she quickly shot a plume of silver flames towards Burt, Drage who was on her back quickly noticed before she burst of the flames and he jumped in front of her as soon as the silver flames were released.
Immediately the flames were about to blast him, Drage quickly commanded a part of the flames to form a shield to act as a buffer reducing the impact of the flame blast. Drage successfully defended the attack and then spread out the flames forming a pentagram circle with shriller being in the centre of the circle, Drage quickly pulled out the knife that Fenn had lent him and used it to cut his arm feeding his blood to the flaming circle, the circle comprising of flames quickly increased and the flames rose to an alarming height forming a sort of mystical pressure that kept shriller trapped in the circle. Although there were a lot of steps the fact was it had taken Drage only a second to complete these movements without giving the animalized shriller a chance to react successfully starting the ceremony.
Fenn watched with admiration as the boy quickly put aside his panic and hesitation and quickly completed the ritual circle he had given him in record time. The circle was one which he had stumbled upon during his travels, it was a ritual circle that any human with a little magical nature could use to form a connection with any other magical creature. Although Fenn wasn’t sure if Drage had any magical blood in him but every fire-breather had a little magical nature in them especially when manipulating their dragon’s flames, but now judging from the reaction of the flames it seemed that his protégé had more secrets than is shown on the surface. Fenn gave Drage the ritual and instructions about it hoping to use the ritual to kick start and boost Drage and Shriller’s original psychic bond. Fenn landed with Burt and stood aside watching the silver circle still burning high and bright, now all he had to do was wait for the ceremony to end.
Drage through the connection that was becoming strengthened forged through the killing instinct and animalistic drive that was clouding Shriller’s judgment and reason, every second he spent in the psychic link felt like years and the pain was almost tearing his soul to pieces. Finally, after what seemed like eternity Drage arrived in front of what seemed like a silver sun. the flames of the silver sun seemed to heal the pain that tormented him, Drage took a moment to gain his bearing before stretching his illusory palm and come into contact with the silver ball of flames that symbolized shriller.
Fenn who was waiting outside for some minutes noticed the flames had dispersed revealing a fainted Drage who had some weird changes to his appearance because of the ritual and a docile shriller who was guarding her fainted rider. The silver dragon was bigger and all her wounds had been healed, her claws and silver scales were brighter and seemed to absorb the starlight. Fenn motioned to the silver dragon, she seemed to understand his meaning and allowed Fenn to gently place Drage on Burt before Fenn himself got on flying away leaving the charred rocky floor with the silver dragon following calmly behind.
