Death

Circe woke up in pains, her whole body ached, she felt even moving or opening her eyes would be torture so she laid still waiting for the pain and wounds to fade until they became bearable. ‘so this is what it feels like to be burnt’ she thought depreciatingly to herself while staying still, after a few moments the pain receded and with the little recovered magic her body started the self-healing process. When she finally opened her eyes the blinding light of the soon to be setting sun stung her cornea making her eyes teary, after adjusting to the light she found out she was tightly bound, just as she was thinking of untying her self she noticed a beautiful silver dragon a few meters away from her watching her movements, on the silver dragon was a silver-eyed young man with silver-tipped hair and giving off a weird wild and noble temperament, the silver eyes of the young man who was also watching seemed to see through all of her movements and secret, Circe was frightened at first but as she looked closer at her captor she noticed his well-defined jaw and familiar handsome facial features. “do you know Vlaine?” she couldn’t help but ask with a hint of unknown emotion in her eyes. Drage watched the witch from Shriller’s comfortable back, it seemed the witch was still a little bit disoriented and hadn’t noticed him, he couldn’t help but have a headache, he wasn’t sure exactly what the hell he was looking for and the captive witch was the only clue he had, so despite the danger in the last battle killing her did not cross his mind. What he was thinking about right now was how he was supposed to get information from her mouth, judging by the decisive attack earlier Drage judged it would not be easy. When the witch finally noticed him and shriller out of caution Drage activated his mutated vision scanning her to see if she was accumulating magic to perform a spell or not, the witch seemed to be frightened by him, Drage tilted his head lightly seeing this, perplexed he was not narcissistic or anything but he was sure he and shriller did not look anything close to scary in fact using Fenn’s own words if anything they looked like nobles, ‘she probably has a bad experience with fire breathers’ Drage finally concluded, it was the only reasonable explanation for her frantic attack before and the fear that flashed in her face now. “Do you know Vlaine?” those words broke Drage out of his reverie, his mind was blank for a moment before a powerful aura erupted from both him and shriller who was feeling his emotions oppressing the tied up witch, his silver eyes devoid of any emotion leaving only icy indifference to everything stared at the witch for second before asking in a cold tone “How do you know that name?” The name Vlaine was not an unfamiliar one to Drage it was the name of his father, he still remembers his mom thinking about his dad and on many occasions telling him about how great his father was, and telling him his father was still alright and he would be coming home soon. Throughout his childhood, he had been waiting with the hope his father would return one day but he never came, he had buried that name in the deepest part of his mind after his mother’s death and now the witch which the magical map had directed him to find said his father’s name startling him. he was feeling a lot of complicated emotions, he was happy hearing about his news, worried the news was fake that the witch was just playing magic tricks on his mind, angry that he had not heard anything from his father even after his mother’s death and his years on the run, the emotions and thoughts were too overwhelming so he closed off his emotions and replaced it with icy indifference questioning the witch who uttered the name. Circe stiffened felling the chilling aura, as a witch she felt the change in the young man's aura clearly maybe too clearly she felt as if she was a mouse facing an awakened brutal beast. It took a while before she collected and calmed her mind before answering the question carefully. “Vlaine was friends with me, he kept somethings here with me before he disappeared a few years ago. I’m guessing it’s for you untie me and I’ll show you” Circe answered truthfully, her instinct telling her any lies she said would be seen through. Also after seeing the boy’s reactions to the name she was sure the boy definitely had a relationship with Vlaine and was most likely the person Vlaine kept that item for. She sat up on the rubble-filled ground and stretched forth her palms signalling the boy to untie her. The young rider stared for a moment before removing a dagger from his saddle on the dragon and throwing the dagger at her feet. She took the thrown dagger and freed her self before motioning to the young rider to follow her, she didn’t think of escaping or doing anything to him right now because her magic was still very scarce, no volcano for her to use as an alternative magic device and she was looking forward to the boy unravelling the mystery of the item that had been kept in her position all this while. She searched through the rubble of what was a once majestic mountain before finding a hidden underground cave, fortunately, it had not collapsed or been blocked by the rubble she crept forward and beckoned for the rider to follow. Fenn was sitting outside a well-built wooden house looking at the beautiful and magical scenery of the magical forest full of lush leaves and crystal clear stream in front him, the magic of this area had helped him increase his already scarce time, his dragon Burt was beside him looking at him worriedly, Fenn took a swig of the jug of fruit wine Drage had prepared for him before leaving, after taking a swig of the tangy spicy wine he rubbed the head of his companion with a rare attachment and peace in his brown eyes. “Looks like its time, I’m going ahead old friend,” Fenn muttered before sitting on the steps of the house, closing his eyes and within seconds life left his body, his body rapidly withering and turning to dust. The only witness to this scene Burt the dragon gave a piercing cry of agony and grief before walking over to the pieces of dust on the ground, he wrapped his body around the dusty remains of his partner and with one last shout he closed his eyes and ignited his huge body turning everything in the area to ashes.
