Prologue
Bella was the adopted daughter of the Grande Santos family. When she was only three years old, she and her parents were involved in a terrible car accident.
Bella was too young to remember the tragedy, but according to her adoptive parents, her father had been a high-ranking government official caught up in a trafficking operation tied to a powerful cartel in the region. The cartel threatened to hurt his family if he refused to cooperate. But Bella’s father knew that even if he obeyed them, they would never truly leave them alone. So he decided to flee to the United States with his family.
They never made it.
The cartel’s leader, the feared Jefe, sent men after them to eliminate them. During the chase, their car crashed head-on into another vehicle, causing a devastating accident. Bella was the only survivor.
Believing everyone in the car was dead, the men left the scene, abandoning her unconscious and helpless. Local residents who witnessed the crash rushed to help. They pulled Bella from the burning wreckage and saved her life that day.
Enrique Grande Santos, a gardener, had known Bella’s parents and had even worked for them. Grateful for the kindness they had shown him, he couldn’t bear the thought of their daughter growing up alone. No relatives had come forward to claim her anyway.
So Enrique adopted Bella and raised her as his own daughter within the Grande Santos family.
Bella never felt unwanted. Her adoptive parents treated her no differently than Leila, their biological daughter. The two girls grew up together in a loving home, raised with strong family values and strict discipline.
The Grande Santos family lived in Coloso, one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Acapulco. The area was infamous for violent crime, armed robberies, gang wars, and cartel activity.
Their parents constantly warned the girls about gangs. Once Bella was old enough to understand, they told her the truth about how her biological parents had died. From that moment on, Bella developed a deep hatred for gangs. She despised violence, crime, and everything tied to that world.
She swore to stay far away from it and build a peaceful life for herself.
Wanting to cheer Bella up, Leila invited her to a concert by her favorite reggaeton artist. But that night, nothing went as planned. Bella had an unexpected encounter that would change her life forever.
Worse still, she found herself facing another tragedy, one that only deepened her hatred for gangs.
The resentment she once felt was no longer enough to describe the anger, disgust, contempt, and hatred she now carried toward people involved in that criminal world.
Then Bella discovered she was pregnant.
When she decided to find out who the father of her child was, everything spiraled out of control. The father of her son was one of them. One of the very people she hated most.
But the man had no intention of walking away from her or their child.
He was dangerous. His criminal past was soaked in blood, and Bella knew getting close to him would drag them both into darkness. His reputation as a ruthless killer followed him everywhere, and he had countless enemies who wanted him dead. Those enemies would never hesitate to use the people he loved against him.
Yet despite all that, the man seemed willing to do anything for her, for their son, and for the family they could become.
Bella tried to hate him. Tried to reject him. But her heart refused to listen.

Bella’s heart pounded as she stared at Min-Ho, the father of her son.
His piercing gaze sent chills through her body, and his presence was a constant reminder of the dangerous world she had spent her entire life trying to avoid. But now, with a child involved, she was trapped in a storm of conflicting emotions.
“Min-Ho,” she whispered, her voice filled with both fear and defiance. “You may be the father of my son, but that doesn’t mean I belong to you.”
A cold, mocking smile spread across Min-Ho’s lips.
“Oh, Kitty,” he said, his voice dripping with possessiveness. “You really think I’m giving you a choice? As long as you’re breathing, you’re mine.”
Bella’s resolve faltered as his words echoed in her mind. She hated men like Min-Ho. Gangsters. Criminals. Men responsible for pain and tragedy. But standing in front of him now, she couldn’t deny the chaos he stirred inside her.
“No. I don’t belong to you. I’m nobody’s property,” she whispered. “The only thing connecting us is our son. I won’t let you force your way into my life.”
Without warning, Min-Ho smiled and pulled her toward him. His lips crashed against hers.
For one brief moment, love and hate collided. Passion and danger blended together in a kiss that left Bella breathless.
And during that fleeting instant, she lost herself completely in the storm that had taken over her life.
When they finally pulled apart, Min-Ho brushed his thumb across her lips.
“No,” he murmured. “I think I’m a lot more than that. You’ve been mine since the moment I decided you were.”
“You don’t need to be so possessive.”
His eyes darkened. “So you think you can look at another man?”
“I never said that. But it still doesn’t mean I belong to you. Do you even understand how much I hate people like you?”
“My kind?” Min-Ho scoffed. “You think I’d ever give you a choice?”
“Min-Ho.”
“Yes, Kitty.”
“You’re just the father of my son. Don’t cross the line.”
Min-Ho only smiled before turning his back to her.
“I don’t cross lines. Especially not when it comes to you, Kitty.”
Bella bit her lip.
Like a moth caught in a spider’s web, she was trapped between this man and the feelings tearing her apart. And through it all, she kept thinking about her son.
What was truly best for him?
How far was she willing to go to protect him?
Love and hate battled inside her heart, and as she looked into Min-Ho’s eyes, Bella knew the road ahead would be anything but easy.
Her journey of love, danger, and sacrifice was only beginning.
And the choice she made would shape not only her own future, but her son’s as well.
