Chapter 7

The interview for Kylie’s case today at Baekwon Private Jail. Nadia is with Kurt, they were surprise by all the reporters and cameras from different channel to get their comments or to have an interview about Kylie’s case. Is this confidential? They were guarded by the cops and escort them getting inside the jail. They lock the gate for security. Something terrible happened outside, they were keep on pushing each other. Nadia seated at the bench and rubbed her left barefoot. She’s wearing her four-inch heels that she bought during on her birthday. Kurt, caught her on what she did. “What happened? Are you hurt?” he said and kneeled down in front of her.

“I was hurt. Someone’s able to stepped my feet while the keep on pushing.” She keep on rub it.

Kurt wear off her left barefoot. “Let’s check…” he have seen a small wounds but it’s getting reddish and itchy. Nadia was infected. “I have to cure it.” Kurt asked some first aid to the cop who are standing at beneath the receptionist.

Kurt cured the wounds that Nadia has on her left barefoot. Though it’s just temporary aid still Nadia use to settle down. “You have to stay here, and wait for me after the interview.” Kurt said.

“I have to go with you. I have to talk to her as well.” She stood up and hold Kurt right hand as her guide while walking because she can’t walk at ease.

“Okay, just this time. Then, after you will take some rest on your house.”

Kurt searched for Kylie’s. And he requested to the cops to bring her to a private room for an interview. Since it’s private. Nadia stayed outside while waiting. Kylie stared at her too badly and rolled her eyes. Like she hates that much to Nadia. Kylie settle down in front of Kurt while handcuffing to make sure everything is safe. Kylie stared at Kurt imperfectly like she want to punch or kill him.

“I am her to have your opinions, after doing the crime. Nothing’s will happen if you will tell me truth. I will make sure that no one will knows except the court.” Kurt said, prepare his monitor to type everything as what Kylie spoke or mention. He took a deep sighed before she start the interview.

“What happened that night?”

“I was…with him that night but I didn’t intended to kill him. I leave him because we didn’t able to understand each other after. I leave him at the bar. But I stopped outside when they are shouting, and I went back to check it. Then, I saw him lying on the floor and getting wet by his own blood. I have nothing to do that time but to leave him.” She started to cry and burst her feelings.

“Then…why you left him? Why you didn’t help him?”

“Because I don’t know what to do that time. I’m regretting after, when I realized on what I have done to him. It’s a big mistake.”

“What is your relationship to the victim?”

“He is my fiancé. He invited me for a wedding and I accept it because I love him and I know he love me too. So I granted all of his wish for me. And we have plan to have our wedding after this month but it won’t happen anymore because I lose him already.”

“How much you have regretted?”

“Hundred percent. And I wish it’s just a dream or a nightmare but it doesn’t.”

“If it was not your intention. Why you keep on hiding? If not because Nadia your friend, maybe still we’re searching for you.”

“After…after I read and know about the news that you are searching for me. I have nothing to do but to hide. I was out of my mind that time. And I was not able to think. I’m afraid so I hide even if it was not my deeds.”

“Liam said, according to the interview I conduct to him last time. He said, that it was your intentions.”

“What do you mean?” Kylie stopped from sobbing. She turn to curious after hearing Kurt. “What do you mean by Liam?”

“Fortunately, he is alive but he need to stay in the hospital to take some rest. Maybe upon hearing in the court, he will attend and have his own testimony.”

Kylie shocked after knowing that Liam is still alive. Her heart getting burst of panic and nervous. “Go…good because he’s alive. I want to see him and say sorry after letting him away.”

“You can’t see him unless the case will not be finish. I am her prosecutor and visiting him is not allowed even if it is his friends or family unless the case will not be solve. Thank you, Kylie for your information. I promise everything is private. And only both of us will know about it.” Kurt stood up and fix his things. “Nadia, want to talk to you. I’m going to tell her that you are waiting.”

Kylie punch the table once. She getting anger this time. She’s shaking and crying. Like she want to run away and hide. She is that afraid after knowing that Liam is alive. She stop when Nadia is getting inside. Nadia smile to her but she replied nothing. Nadia seated in front of her and keeping calm. “Are you okay?” Nadia said in a calm voice.

“How I can be okay, if I am being like this?” she shouted. “If not because of you, I am not here this time. But because of you, you made my life unlucky. Now, are you that happy?”

“I just want to help you—

“To help me or to Kurt? Are you that possessed with him? You fall in love with Kurt, right? But you can’t tell it to him because you are a woman and supposed to be Kurt will tell it to you, instead. Luke, is looking for you for a long times. He wished to be yours. But he is afraid to confess everything because you are insane. You must be thankful of me because I have keep it and hide it to him that you love another man and not him.”

“What do you mean? I don’t understand even a single of word.” Nadia’s getting curious and confuse, she almost shed her tears after hearing Kylie.

“Stop pretending that you don’t know. I know you heard it clearly. Listen to me, Nadia. I am not Kylie anymore whom you know for a long time. You reject me, and I will reject you too. Let’s forget each other. Stop thinking that this will end. I have to revenge after doing it to me. You will suffer, on how I suffer this time. You can leave now before I can hurt you.”

Still Nadia didn’t move, like someone’s holding her to stay. “I say leave now?” Kylie shouted at force her to leave. She went outside while crying. Nothing’s around so she act like an insane. She bumped herself on the floor and cried. But Kurt approach her. “What happened? Are you okay?”

“I am okay.” She stopped on sobbing.

Nadia directly went to her house to have some rest. Starting the time when Ignacio was admitted on the hospital. She feel pain on her whole body more often. Like she feel severe pain, and stress. She gets easily feel tired even if she didn’t expose too much burden. Maybe it’s because of inadequate sleep. She is a doctor but didn’t able to cure herself because she is always busy don’t have enough time.

She think about Luke. So she grabbed her phone and dial his number.

“Hello, Luke? Where are you? Can we meet this night?”

“Sorry, Nadia. I am with someone this time, we have our dinner. Maybe tomorrow morning, I will come to your office. Because it’s been a long day that we haven’t meet each other.”

“Who is that someone? May I know it?”

“I am with a woman this time. Actually, I have promised to her to have a dinner every night as our deal.”

“Good to hear that you are happy tonight. Good luck.”

She turned off the call and put it on the table beside on her bed. Before she went to sleep, she face herself on the mirror. Luke’s statement that she can’t remember that she heard a while ago: “I am with a woman this time.” She use to pull her head, and scream for a pain. She getting out on her mind this time. “Are you that possessed with him? You fall in love with Kurt, right?” Another she heard about from Kylie. This was a time she can’t forget. How can Kylie said that? Maybe she witnessed already between them. She pulled again her head. “Please, help me. I want to get over from this. I can’t take it anymore.” She thought.

But the one she don’t really know is how she have kiss with Kurt, especially a moment happened on her house when she was drunk. She still don’t know it, only Kurt know about it. But Kurt kept it a month ago. Because he don’t want Nadia will lose her mind if she find out. Not a big deal with Kurt, since it was unintentional. They both cherished it, actually. A woman who did a rare kiss to a man. That made the man fall in love to a woman secretly.

Luke visited Nadia at the hospital. He directly went at Nadia’s office as their meeting place. He bring with him a basket of fruit. Wearing his doctor’s suit, since he was come from his work and don’t have a time to wear it off. Some doctors and nurses, shocked and surprised about his existence. They don’t realize that they have a new doctor who is handsome than others and a perfect guy. Some are flirting him, but he just smile and glared to them. He knock twice before Nadia let him getting inside.

“I bring fruits for you. Because I know you are too busy to buy like this.” He put it on the table. And slouch at the swivel chair. “Sorry, I’m just tired driving.”

“No problem.” She stood up, and walk behind Luke.

“Sorry, Nadia for everything. I forget it already. And I want to start a friendship with you. Let’s forget it all and act like nothing’s happened.” He stared at Nadia seriously.

“I forget it already, Luke. There is something I have always think of, that I want to clarify. I always bring it, and it made me not to think seriously.”

“What is that? Maybe I can help?”

“Did you…Ah….I feel severe pain on my body? And I don’t know the reason why.” She lied, caressing her backbone.

He stood up and caress his hands to her backbone. “You should take some rest. It might because of tiredness or stress and you was not able to sleep regularly.”

She get one of Ignacio’s records and show it to Luke. He was surprised about the record when he read it. “What does it mean? Really? You have this kind of patient here?”

“Yes, and she was my patient. I have to examine him after he recover. But, I almost kill myself examining him because until now everything is complicated. I can’t find how to cure this kind of virus.” She sat on her swivel chair and drop her head on the table, feeling depressed.

“He was already in a quarantine, because we found out that the virus he has is infectious.”

“Goodness, and AIV? It is not curable.”

“The hospital plan to transfer him in Australia. Actually, we have our session last time that is why we come up to this plan. As well, we keep it a secret. His family didn’t know it yet. And he was Kurt’s father?”

“Kurt?” a curiosity on his face erupt when he heard the name Kurt. He remember that name being mentioned by Carrie on the beach. His name Kurt.

“Are you alright? I see on your face that you are not capable.”

“Did you know him?” he asked innocently.

“Yes, he is my friend. I know him during that time of the accident. Actually, he was the one who dragged my car and ruined it. Why did you asked?”

“Someone’s searching for him. A woman who I have meet last night.”

“Who?—

“Carrie—

“Ahh…actually, I didn’t know her either. How’s your date with her? I know she is beautiful because you have dated with her. Is she beautiful than me?”

“Both, you’re both beautiful.” Nadia almost burst her happiness. “Actually, she is good but I don’t know the remaining since we are not able to know each other.”

“If you meet her, can you ask me? I want to see her as well. Maybe, I like her to be yours.”

“What?” he asked again in curiosity.

“No…nothing. I mean, I want to meet her because I would like to know her.”

Someone’s knocking on the door. It’s getting mad, that is why it open without any permission. They are surprised when a nurse came with a panic look. “You have to go in the OR, Ignacio is getting worse.”

“What?” she was frightened. She wear her doctor’s suit, and all the thing needed for the operation. “Luke, you can stay here. Just wait for me, I just want to save Ignacio.” She’s getting panic.

“I’m coming with you.” Luke pulled Nadia’s right hand and run through the OR. Before they get inside they wash their hands first for proper hygiene. And prepare all the tools and equipment for operation. Before Nadia start the operation, she pray first for guidance. “God, I ask your holy spirit and send it to us. Today, we ask your strongest guidance for this operation. Hoping it will be successful. Please give Ignacio another chance to live in this world and witnessed on how his son get married and have a grandchildren. Ignacio, is a good person like his son who save thousands of life because of his goodness and hard-work. Just this time, allow Ignacio have another life. I know its hurt losing someone that you love because I already experience it. And I don’t want Kurt suffer pain and loneliness and was not able to focus his task. Since someone asking his help for cruel justice. It is in your hand and it is your choice. Amen.”

Kurt was on his office, finalizing the papers for Kylie’s case. He stop when someone caught his attention. His father. He think about on his father who is on the OR and all doctors and nurses helping each other to help his father who was not able to breathe anymore. He stood up and get his coat, he will going to the hospital to make sure nothing’s happen. “Where are you going?” Erica said bring a cup of coffee for him. “Sir, coffee for you.”

“Just drink it. I’m leaving. I have to go to the hospital to meet my father.”

He drove so fast to come in the hospital as quick. He feel that something’s bad happened to his father. He is not capable on her situation right now. Until he take some over-take to a car that is trying to block his way. He run getting inside the hospital. He’s getting sweat. Then…he meet Nadia with Luke who is sitting on the bench outside on his father ward. “What happened?” he asked seriously and curiosity on his face being painted.

“Who are you? Are you Kurt who put Kylie in prison?” Luke getting mad like he’s trying to punch it but Nadia block him to stop. “How dare you!”

“Who are you? You didn’t know me yet. I am a prosecutor, and I have a right to detain you.” he show how competitive he is. He almost punch Luke but Nadia keep on blocking them.

“Stop it.” Nadia shouted. She’s getting mad and angry this time. She doesn’t know what to do because a lot of problem she has right now. “Please, stop it. I can’t take it anymore.” Nadia bumped herself on the bench and cried like a baby. Kurt trying to hug her but he was stop by Luke. “You can’t touch her. I have my permission to care for her since I am a doctor.”

“Please, don’t do this in my front. I’m getting struggle this time and I don’t know what to do.” She keep on crying. “Kurt, we have to talk. You have something to know.” She stood up and bring Kurt to the balcony they usually spend their vacant and have a rest.

“Where is my father? I came here to see my father because I felt something bad happened to him.”

“He is okay right now. But he was send to the OR a while ago because he’s getting worse. This time, we send him to Australia for a medication.”

“What do you mean?”

“You have something you need to know. Your father was infected by a virus from animals, and we examine it until we found how the virus spread on his veins every single time. And it multiplied.”

“What?” he’s getting weak this time. He’s shedding his tears on his cute faces. “Is he going to die?”

“No. We will going to do everything just to save him. Promise. That is why we send him to Australia because I know they will going to cure your father there.”

He’s getting emotional. Nadia pulled him to her and hug him tightly. Kurt cried on her shoulder while she rub his back to calm him down. “Don’t worry everything’s will be alright. If I am with you, you will not suffer loneliness and worries. I’m going to help you to relieve everything.”

“Thank you!”

Carrie is on the room, change her clothes because they have their dinner with Luke. It’s almost two days that Mia didn’t went home because she have to search for Kurt. While Carrie fix herself, put some light make-up. Someone’s knocking on the door and it’s Mia who has a big smile on her face. “What’s the news?” Carrie smiled.

“I have found him already. I took some pictures but don’t be mad seeing this.” She lend her phones to Carrie to show the pictures of Kurt. “She is with a girl.”

“What?” Carrie getting mad after seeing the pictures of Kurt while Nadia hugged on him. She almost throw Mia’s cellphone but she stop her. “Oopps… don’t throw it.”

“She is the girl, who soaked a coffee on my dress last time. But now she’s trying to flirt Kurt.” She’s getting mad, fold her both hands like she want to punch Nadia.

“Don’t get mad. You have your dinner tonight. Don’t ruin your make-up. Just keep calm.”

“Mia, I want you to search for them. Because tomorrow I’m going to meet them.”

“Okay.”

Carrie get into her car irritated. She have to go on the dinner because Luke is waiting for her. She occupied the chair in front of Luke, keeps on hesitating. Luke look at her unrecognizable. “What happened? You look unlucky tonight. Is there something wrong?”

“There is woman that I need to meet. I want to teach her after flirting my boyfriend. I want to make sure that I can kill her with my own hands. A woman that I’ve always met, and who ruined my dress last time. She has her debt that she can’t pay.”

“Who is she? Why are you that hate to her?”

“I don’t know her name but I have her picture with Kurt.” She show the picture that Mia taken last time, while hugging each other. Luke can’t react after seeing her friend’s picture who’s hugging with Kurt. “Did you know her?”

“No—

“Why you can’t react?”

“She’s looks familiar to me. Maybe I see her along the highway. But I forgot it already.”

“Please, Luke. If you know her or you meet her, kindly call me as possible? I just want to meet her and teach her a lesson. I really hate her so much.”

“I can’t make sure, since I am too busy.”

“Don’t worry, I have my friend Mia who is searching for her. Thanks a lot if you can find her.”

“Your welcome.”

Tonight, Nadia meet Kurt at the place where near at the river. They have their refreshment. The river is over looking to the city. It’s beautiful because of its light in different color, a dancing fountain near on the bench where they are seated. They have a snack with them, a bucket of halo-halo, and a piece of pie. They have their fun while talking.

“They view is beautiful, seems like I want to stay here forever with you.” Kurt take a deep sighed and wink to Nadia.

“What? I didn’t heard anything.” She pretend.

“Never mind. It ashamed to repeat it.” He smiled.

“I know you have said something.” She pushed Kurt a bit.

“I want to stay here because it’s beautiful.”

“You know what, this is my first time going here. I’m too busy to have fun around this country and seeing all the beautiful places.”

“If I am with you forever, I’m going to travel you around. If that what you wish for.”

“Thank you. Though I have a lot of time but still I didn’t find time to travel. Everything is because of you.” she stood up and come near the river. “I want to throw some pieces of stone in the river.” She get some piece of stone and throw it on the water. She having fun throwing repeatedly. Kurt stood up beside her.

“If not because of you, I can’t smile like this.” Nadia front her because she’s getting intrigue.

“As in? I know I am not the only woman in the world who made you happy. I know I am just second or third or last.”

“If I’m given a chance, why not? I’m going to cherish it.”

“What do you mean?” she turn her look to being curious.

“I mean, I want to confess everything about I have feel.”

“To whom?”

“To….—he pulled Nadia to him. He give his strongest, and sweetest kiss to Nadia that other girl didn’t experience. She getting froze and can’t move her whole body as what happen. Kurt keep on kissing, pulled her tightly into his chest. Nadia just follow every moves that Kurt doing.

A beautiful night and unforgettable moment they have that they can’t forget. There’s no too much who are around and no one can disturb them. The surroundings is silence and dark. Only the post of light and dancing fountain from behind that give a light. The perfect shape of moon together with their perfect romance. Nadia pulled him from her breast, and kiss him tightly. What does it mean? Are they in love now? Or it is just an accident? “Sorry.” Nadia said, and bow down her head getting embarrass.

“You don’t need to say sorry. Let’s just mind it that we both want it.”

“No. It’s just an accident.”

Kurt hold her right hand and kiss it for a little while. “Just this night. I hope you will not get mad at me. I won’t forget this moment that I am with you. Thank you, so much. You are a relief of mine.”

“Actually, I mean it—

Kurt surprised when Nadia confess everything. They are falling in love each other now. He smiled at Nadia as what he heard that made his heart beat fast and burst his feelings.

“What you mean about?”

“I like you.” Nadia confess.

An intriguing confession from the other side. A woman who confess that she like the man, she have tonight. Kurt can’t react. He just smiled widely like he is the lucky man around the world. It was his first time, a woman tell that she like him.

“Is this true?” Kurt getting incapable. He want to hug Nadia tightly to express his feelings.

“I mean—it’s too long that I keep on hiding it. I like you.” she’s getting ashamed.

“I like you too. I know it’s tired to keep it because I have experience that. I hide feeling into you. But tonight, I won’t let this night end nothing’s happen. I’m going to confess everything, all what I have feel from you. I want to say, I love you.” he smiled.

Nadia grabbed his both hands and put it on her waist. She hug Kurt so tight. Kurt cried because of joy, he can’t imagine everything. He just give her tight hug to her. He raise Nadia, since he is taller than her and turn repeatedly. “I love you, Nadia” he shouted.

“You should not shout it, maybe someone heard us. It’s too loud in this wide open range.”

“I am proud because I meet you. I never regret every single time that I am with you.”

“But Kurt, it doesn’t mean that we are in a relationship starting from now. I want to remain our relationship as a friend. Let’s just be friend until the right time to be each other forever.”

“Don’t worry, I respect all your decision. Because I know it’s for the good sake.”

“Thank you.” she hugged him again. As a peace gestures and a deal.
