"Hi, sweetheart, I am so glad you decided to come tonight." Mom smiles happily. I nod bashfully. They don't seem disappointed. Jake even looks a bit remorseful. "Jake, apologize to her right now. You scared her." Lily nudges Jake.
"So you're still talking to me?" I ask. He said he would completely ignore me. "Jake Hanson Claire! What the hell did you tell her?! Unbelievable. No wonder the poor girl thinks the way she does. You exploit it, instead of supporting her through her issues." Lily looks at Jake with mixed emotions of anger, annoyance, and disappointment.
"Haven, I wasn't serious about that. I was only using a fear tactic so you wouldn't try it ever again. I'm sorry. I love you, and it's my job as your big brother to protect you even from yourself." Jake hugs me, ma
