Ruby POV:
I wasn't sure how much time had passed since we left the base. This was my first time flying in a helicopter, but my mind was too crammed with thoughts to focus on the experience. My gaze remained glued outside at the blue sky and white clouds.
Natalie's words had been replaying in my mind since we'd left. She had known what would happen to me, and even if she hadn't known everything about who or what I was, she knew enough that we could've gotten in front of this mess earlier. I didn't buy her crap about The Goddess not allowing her to tell. She just told me now with no apparent objections from The Goddess.
