"Some people fall in love with the wrong people sometimes."  _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ The officer checked his phone intently as he walked into the classroom with Ben tailing behind him closely.  They took their seats on the chairs facing each other and a minute long silence fell in the classroom aside from of the cop typing away at his phone and the wind blowing into the class on their backs.   The cop finally broke the silence, “Can we begin then?” The officer asked, stroking his  beard, apparently more at ease as he spoke to Ben.   Ben nodded at the officer and they began going over the drill  “So... you live alone in an apartment few blocks away from your parents and take on some freelance work every now and then. Everyone has good things to say about you, excluding the times people are of the opinion that you are a known cheater.” The officer said, hesitating a little while trying to sentence the words as clearly as he could.  Ben blinked as he looked up at the officer and gulped, raking is brain to think of a reply  “It isn’t exactly false” Ben admitted “I have made some regrettable decisions” he continued as he lowered his head, shamefully  The officer nodded, acknowledging his statement “The boyfriend, or in this case, the...latest relationship of the victim is usually considered the biggest suspect” he stated and waited for a moment before quickly continuing “But, of course you would know that, with your obsession with collecting crime related articles and books and things of that sort”   Ben looked up, startled as the officer explained “People you acquaint yourself with were kind enough to stress on this hobby of yours...can I even call it that? Sounds like an obsession to me”   “I don’t see how this might be related to being a murder suspect” Ben said, sounding ridiculed  “I would think it’s makes you a pretty solid suspect , Mr. Kins” the officer said   Ben knew from the way that the officer said his name, what he had coming.  “I’m not sure what you are trying to get me to say, but I’m innocent” Ben said as he felt his hands go cold and sweat roll down from his forehead down to his cheeks.   The cop ignored his statement and continued to speak “All records of you are pretty clean...” he said making Ben feel like a huge boulder was lifted off his shoulders but the next few sentences made the hair on his neck stand in panic.  “But...I have been told” He dragged as he gestured towards hid phone and continued “that one of Ms. Kelsey’s friend said that they had noticed fingerprints on her neck like she’d been choked around the time she might have been poisoned which is also the time she had told her friends she was ‘hanging out’ with you. Pretty coincidental don’t you think?” The cop stated and watched as Ben grew increasingly tense with each word he said.  There was a moment of silence as Ben’s heart raced and his mind went blank “I didn’t kill her. I didn’t mean to hurt her.” Ben finally mumbled, his voice trembling.  The officer caught onto that statement as hard as he could and asked in a hurried but gently tone “What do you mean? Did you hurt her Ben? Did you hurt Kelsey?”   Ben regretted the words as soon as they his mouth as he shook his head “Please believe me, I didn’t kill her” Ben said as sweat dripped down his face and his body went numb  “You have to tell me exactly what happened for me to believe that, boy” the cop pushed   “I-I... S-She was...I h-had to do something, she ruined my life and hurt Jane so I had to do something” Ben said desperately as the cop urged him to continue “I only did what I did to scare her enough so she would stay away, so she wouldn’t ruin anyone else’s life...”  The officer waited as Ben heaved breaths and said “I hurt her...I slammed her and...”   ‘It’s so easy, I can just squeeze her neck between my hands and it won’t be a problem anymore, just a little more and it’ll be done’ Ben thought as he watched Kelsey struggled to breathe between his palms, tears streaming down her face, she looked like a wreck and it was giving Ben a strange type of adrenaline and power. He felt in charge of his life.  Kelsey’s eyes were starting to lose life when the windows of his apartment rattled because of the wind and saved Kelsey’s life as Ben released her and snapped out of trance as he realised the depth of what he going to do. He started to back away as he heard Kelsey frantically move around the apartment and collect her things whilst coughing and wheezing.   ‘My life is ruined’ Ben thought to himself as Kelsey rushed to leave   “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry” Ben said over and over again as he slid down against the wall next to the door and held his head between his hands, his face turning red.  Kelsey left with the door slamming behind her and he heard her sobs go further and further away.  “You hurt her, but not enough to kill her. On that day, which is why you tried to kill her otherwise? Trying to hide the evidence that you’re a maniac?” The officer said his voice raising as he started getting riled up.  Ben’s eyes turned red as it glistened with unshed tears “I didn’t kill her” He mumbled with guilt laced in his voice.  “Is there anything else you can say in your defence?” The officer commanded as silence fell in the room once again with the only sound being that of the wind rustling into the classroom.   __________________________________________________________________________________  -Meanwhile in another class-   The officer sat staring into his notepad as he heard the girl say the same things the one before her had.  “She wouldn’t speak to us a lot”, “I could never hurt her”, “something was wrong, she had marks on her neck", "I think it’s Ben”, “someone wanted to harm her” “she was an angel “   He saw this going nowhere. He had not been able to make anyone slip any sort of clue of what actually had happened to the victim.   “Lilly probably said all this before but I just have to say, please please find out who did t-that to Kels. The person needs to go through hell-” The girl who sat facing the officer said as she broke into tears for the second time in the past 5 minutes.  The cop softly sighed and gave his condolences to her as he shook his head to himself.   “You will have to help me here Ms. May, we are working hard to find the culprit” The officer said gently as the girl looked up and nodded.  __________________________________________________________________________________  Ken’s phone beeped as he and Jane sat in an empty class with Jane’s head resting on his shoulder as they spoke about what they should do on their date.   Ken peeped into his phone and saw a text from Brie ‘We need to talk’. Ken bit his lip in thought as he ignored what Jane was saying.  “Hey babe” he said cutting her off mid sentence “Do you mind if I take a little pee break?” he said with a grin as Jane chuckled and nodded “Gogo” she rushed him and sat up straight on her chair as Ken stood up, winked at her and walked out of the class.  ‘What does she need from me now?’ He thought to himself as he stood a little away from the class where Jane was and messaged Brie ‘Where?’
