She spun around and gasped. Seeing his tall figure in the dark, she knew it was him. Yet she could barely see his face, his dark black hair hanging in his face, he pulls it up, and it drops back in his face. She's frozen in shock, his footsteps moving closer to her. She thought she would never see him again, yet here he was inches away. All she had to do was reach up. His smile made her laugh as the smoke slowly rose around her ankles. "I'll see you soon Britt." He said with a laugh, the smoke took him away, leaving her standing on the sidewalk. She sighed and began walking back home. The quiet street began to blur around her, she braced herself. She stopped walking and looked up at the stars, enjoying the moment before she would disappear again. She felt the smoke creeping up her fingertips. Would she ever just accept the dark smoke as part of her life? She knew it was a risk being that close to him, but once she felt his presence at the Diner, she had to see him. She had to see his face before it felt like another memory she would never have again. She never got to pick where she went to next, if it was her future, past, or other lives. She wanted to end the cycle, but how can she when the curse is upon them all? Will she ever get to end this journey? Who will she meet along the way? Will she be destructive like her mother or a coward like her father....
A normal day at school was out of the question when I arrived at school. As I walked in after getting off the bus, there was a tall blonde girl smiling at me from the lockers. Her lip curved to the corner, as her eyes fluttered. I couldn't help but stare intently at her. She was stunningly beautiful, and based off her body language she knew it. The way she gracefully pushed back her long blonde hair. Her hair looked as soft as flower petals. Her body was perfectly curvy. She wore a tight-fit purple cotton shirt with the words "Bite Me" on her left front breast pocket. Little did she know I would bite her right here if she asked me. It wouldn't hurt to walk over and say hello. She was still staring back at me. Was she thinking the same thing? I felt myself slowly walking towards her....
"What the hell do you think you are doing?" A hard grip of hands caught hold of my shoulder and jerked me back. The voice was snappy and sharp. I noticed that voice anywhere. Turning around to make eye contact was the worst mistake I could have made at that moment. I regretted it instantly, as the smoke swirled up past my face and I felt blood dripping down my lips. THAT b***h!
I woke up in my bed, well one of them. I sat up quickly to take a look around the room to see what time it was and where I was. Shocker. I'm at my mother's house. Hell house, as I like to call it. I quickly got off my bed and looked through my closet. Grabbing my black jacket, black jeans, and my boots. I quickly stripped down to my underwear and tank top. I heard a loud bang on the door. "I'm getting dressed, hold on." . My mother, being the asshole that she is, swings the door wide open and began telling me how she needs me to stay home with the kids today, so she can go to rest. Resting meant her being lazy all day, sleeping and watching movies. She did this every day, and I was sick of it. Thankfully, with how my emotions lately have thrown off my powers, I probably won't be stuck in the past for long. "I've got things to do today, I can't." I quickly grabbed my black mini backpack, and walked to the front door. My mother then began yelling "You are staying home, I don't care what you have going on today. I will have your stepfather up here to beat your ass if you leave this household. " That made me chuckle. She gave me a nasty disgusted look.
"Go ahead mom, he won't win this one. I'm stronger now." I opened the front door and walked out.
"I have to tell you something Samantha, it is really important.", "Well, make it snappy, we have cheerleading practice we need to get to. Now, hurry up and get dressed before we are late, or I will have to write you up as I am captain. No excuses for anyone." She said while pulling out her clipboard from her backpack. "It's ...just well, I wanted you to know that I have been feeling a connection with you. I would like us to go out sometime and talk about it." She looked up quickly and her face went white. She slammed the clipboard down onto the bench. "Are you serious right now? You WHAT! No, that's just disgusting." . I took a step towards her. " Trish, you can't deny it. The other night we were about to...." She immediately got red in the face and she looked angry. "You say one more word. I will never speak to you again. You are cut, no cheerleading and stay away from Me!" She stormed off.
As I stood in front of the girls' bathroom sink, I gripped at the faucet as I drank some water. I began struggling to breathe, my chest tightening and I felt myself ready to pass out. "It's better if you breathe slowly and actually remember to breathe." A soft voice from behind spoke to me. "What?" I asked. "You aren't breathing, you need to relax and concentrate on one thing." The voice got closer. "Ok breathe. Got it." I looked up into the mirror to see her face again, her blonde hair was glowing. I Shook my head and looked back up. She placed a hand on my lower back and began to gently rub my back. "You are um...." I forgot for a second why I was even in the bathroom and couldn't think of her name. I was in shock. She was standing near me, talking to me, touching me. "Yes, I am Roseanne, but I prefer you call me Roxy." She smiled. "Roxy.." I whispered with a smile. A beautiful name, for a beautiful girl. "How about we go get some fresh air, go somewhere. Get out of this toxic hell hole of a school?" She said playfully. "I don't know, it's last period and don't you have tryouts today?" I said. "Not until approximately an hour and twenty-seven minutes. But who's counting?" She chuckled. She picked up my bag from the floor and started walking out the bathroom. "Where will we go? Aren't we going to get caught?" I said as I followed her. "Nope, I am a master at this...come on!" . She said.
She grabbed hold of my hand before I could turn around and change my mind. We began to run through the hallways of the school our fingers knotted together in a tight grip. She looked back and we both began to laugh. It echoed down the hallway. The two back doors of the school swung open, and we ran through the teacher's parking lot. We ducked quickly as a teacher began to pull in. Thankfully, we were quick enough that we ran down the hillside to the student parking lot. She jogged over to a big black and green truck. "Hurry up! Jump in already!" She yelled down at me from the truck door as she swung it open for me. As I climbed up into the truck, she jabbed the keys into the ignition and started it up. Loud music screeched from ther stereo, and she reversed the truck, making us bump our hips. I felt our legs touch briefly as she speeded over the speed bump, making us fly up in the truck and bounce back down. I screamed, not noticing, I grabbed hold of her arm.
Hold on silly. I am not going to kill us just yet." She said, she looked at me and started laughing loudly. "What?" I asked. "You should see yourself right now. You have this face like we just broke out of jail or robbed a bank. It's just school, we will be alright. The look on your face is so priceless right now. I wish I had my camera on me. I can picture frame it and laugh at it for centuries. "Well, we just broke a school violation. Aren't you worried they are going to catch us and suspend us for it?" I said worriedly.
"They can, we would just have more free time together." She smiled as she glanced over at me.
The truck began to slow down just as she was about to speak."Again, I always forget the most simple things in this world. We had to get out of the truck, we ran out of gas. " She pulled the truck over to the side of the road, and we jumped out and started to walk. "So now what? Should I call someone to come pick us up and take us back to school?" I asked. "No silly, my house is just up this obnoxious hill, so hurry up !" She walked ahead of me.
"Do you regret it?" She asked, tilting her head waiting for me to answer. "Regret what?" I didn't think Sammie would have the whole school knowing what I said to her by the end of the day. I was expecting to miss school tomorrow, since by then everyone would know and be making remarks all day. I love her and she hates me for it. How will we ever get past this? I thought she wanted me to kiss her that night, her lips were lightly grazing mine as my sister banged on the door yelling about Riley pushing her. What would have happened? Would she still hate me? "So... Do you regret telling Samantha how you feel?" Roxy had stopped walking and stood in front of me. " Well, no. I needed her to know. It had been a long time coming. I just don't understand...why she acted the way she did. I thought she felt the same way, but I guess I saw it all in my head." I said as I felt my stomach curl and pain thrust through me. "Hey, breathe. It's OK, I understand. I'm sorry for bringing it up. I know how hard it can be, I know how you feel." Roxy said. "Feel? You know how I feel? You fell in love with your best friend? You lost your soulmate because you couldn't keep your dumb feelings to yourself? You have everyone hating you because you are gay, and they can't be accepting of it?" I was outraged. I wanted everyone to feel what I was feeling, I wanted to release myself. That's when I felt it, a small but noticeable tug. It felt like it was inside me slowly slipping out.
