My heart is pounding and I can’t bring myself to sit down or stay still anyway. I begin to pace the room, looking for a way in which I could get out. I believed Aurora when she told me they wouldn’t hurt me but now I'm not so sure about that. Why did they lock me in this room? What are they discussing between each other? They could be planning a way in which they can get
rid of me without anyone knowing about it. My attention is drawn to a set of drawers next to the fireplace. I walk over to them and I start scavenging in the drawers for something that I could use to pick the lock. I have never picked a lock before but now was a damn good time to learn how to. The drawers are pretty much empty besides for some odd papers. Suddenly I hear the
door begin to rattle. My heart sinks into my stomach and my hands start shaking. I immediately turn to face the door and watch as Damien walks in. He has an unreadable expression on his face. I begin to panic and without thinking I race over to the fireplace and grab the fire poker from its stand. I face the pointy end towards him. It was obvious that I was trembling but I still stand my ground and try to act as confident as possible. Damien raises his hands in surrender. He has a faint smile on his face as he does so. This tells me that he is in no way intimidated but I don't care, I am not going down without a fight. Suddenly the other side of the double door slams open and Thomas walks in and heads straight towards me. He definitely has a whole
different approach to things than Damien and it felt as if the whole atmosphere shifted when he walked in. Before I knew it he was standing in front of me, looking directly into my eyes.
“Drop the fire poker, love” he says to me not losing eye contact.
I feel almost frozen in place under his intense gaze. Eventually I loosen my grip on the iron rod and start to lower my arm. I am hoping he falls for this and when I think he would least expect it. I swing the iron rod towards him. He almost immediately reacts to this. It was as if he knew what I was gonna do before I did it. With very little effort he grabs the other end of the rod and pulls it to the right of himself. I have no time to loosen my grip on the rod and so I go flying forward with it. I end up right in front of him with his face mere inches away from mine. My heart is slamming itself against my chest as I look into his eyes and I watch as something in his eyes shift.
“I seriously advise you never to try something like that again”
The chill in his voice sends shivers down my spine. He keeps a firm grip on the rod and still doesn’t break eye contact with me. I don’t dare move, something in his voice tells me he was no longer playing mr nice guy. The room goes silent and I am pretty sure everyone around me is able to hear my heart beating wildly in my chest. I suddenly feel the iron rod being ranked out of my hand. I look down at my hand before hastily returning my attention back to Thomas. To my surprise Aurora was now standing next to him. I had been so transfixed by Thomas' gaze that I didn't even notice her walk up to us. I notice that the rod is now in her hand and it is then that I realize it was her who had grabbed it away.
“Enough Thomas” she says, glaring at him. She then looks at me. “So Dawn Thomas has something he needs to explain to you” Thomas looks at her with a stern expression before shifting his attention back to me.
“So let's just say you were at the wrong place at the wrong time. There’s a woman named Helena. She is from our world and she somehow managed to steal one of the stones that we use to travel. She is now wandering around your world causing chaos and so the council sent me to grab her and bring her back here”
I am about to ask why they sent him specifically but he cuts me off.
“They sent me because Aurora, Damien and I are a group of really skilled fighters who have been forced to train our whole lives and that's all you need to know”
Damn im pretty convinced this dude is able to read my mind. He then goes on.
“I don’t know how I managed to
screw up so badly but instead of grabbing who I thought was Helena in the woods I grabbed you. Now for some unknown reason we are unable to get you back to your world. As Damien said we have never heard of this happening before. None of us have any idea as to what is going on but we need to find answers soon and we need to get you back as soon as possible”
I stand there processing everything Thomas has said. There seems to be a big rush to get me back home but I don’t know why, maybe they will get in trouble if someone finds out they made a mistake.
“Will you guys get in serious trouble if someone finds out you made a mistake and brought me here?” Thomas looks at me for a moment before replying.
“You see Dawn the least of my concern is possibly getting in trouble with the council. I am not afraid of the council or their authorities. The problem is If anyone here finds out you are not from our world in which they will, trust me they will. They will not hesitate in getting rid of you. People from our world want nothing to do with people from your world” My mouth goes dry at this and I could feel my heart rate starting to pick up again.
“When you say get rid of me are you trying to say that they will kill me?” I ask
He doesn't respond, he simply looks at me, but his eyes confirm what I already think is the case. I feel like I'm about to throw up. I don't know what to do or how to respond to that. I start to feel light headed. Not only because I'm stressed but because I'm in a whole new unfamiliar environment. Suddenly Damien speaks up.
“Thomas you need to marry her ''
