CHAPTER EIGHT

Miriam walked into the hospital with a frown on her face. She saw the guards at the door. She smiled.
The guards saw her and greeted her. She stopped in front of them
“ I hope you did your job” Miriam asked sternly.
One of the guards smiled
“ na job well done. She no even show face” he said .
Miriam scoffed
“ Ava isn’t that gullible. She would have found a way” Miriam thought to herself. She faced the guard “ good” she said. Even though she didn’t appreciate them.
She entered the room and moved closer to the bed. She stared at Eze with no pity in her eyes. She once loved her brother. But not anymore
“ you look awful” she paused “ just the way I want” she said quietly “ you know I loved you, you were the only family I had…” she sighed “ but you turned against me…and look at where you are” Miriam smiled darkly. She loves winning. And that what happened with her and Eze. Miriam frowned
“ but you are useless” she smiled darkly “ but don’t worry. Ava will give me back what you owe me. She will pay for your sins” Miriam chucked “ isn’t this fun?” she asked rhetorically.
Miriam moved her face closer to Eze’s
“ watch your daughter play my little game. I hope you remain miserable. I really hope you do” she whispered to Eze and left.
For a while Miriam words and presence was still felt in the room, even though she was gone. Eze still unconscious began to move his fingers slowly. He opened his eyes slowly. He moved his eyeball observing the room
“ Ava…Ava…A…” he said slowly and weakly. Then fell unconscious.

Precious laughed hard at Femi’s joke. She stared at Femi
“ so you actually studied in New York?” Precious asked with curiosity.
Femi smiled and nodded his head in affirmation
“ yes”
Obi smiled
“ wow” he said to Femi. NEC has a lot of foreign student , so that didn’t surprise him. Femi just doesn’t act and look like someone that has studied abroad. Obi looked at Precious, she was blushing. Oh my God. This girl is already heads over heel for him.
“ no wonder you are so handsome” Precious said to Femi warmly and softly.
“ who?” Ava asked dryly from behind.
They all saw Ava and smiled. Ava saw Femi and scoffed
“ so you are the handsome one?” she asked flatly.
Femi smirked
“ isn’t it obvious?” Femi asked boastfully. Obi faced Femi. Ava doesn’t talk to strangers like this
“ do you know each other?” Obi asked.
Femi smiled
“ yeah. I know Cinderella”
Obi and Precious stared at each other very confused.
“ who is Cinderella” Obi asked, perplexed.
“ is it the cinder Cinderella?” Precious asked looking around.
Femi frowned then stared at Ava
“ so what’s your name. Your real name.” Femi said .
Ava stared at Femi for a little moment
“ its Ava” she said . Then smiled.
Precious faced Ava
“ do you know that he studied in New York?” Precious said in awe.
Ava smiled a little
“ you are from New York city, you grow pretty…” she noticed she is rhyming, she smiled widely “ oh my God I’m rhyming…” she paused and stared at Femi “ and that rhyme fit witty” she said cheerfully.
Precious and Obi looked at Ava.
“ wow , you formed a rhyme” Precious said smiling.
Femi scoffed rudely, making everyone to stare at him.
“ is there a problem?” Ava asked sharply.
Femi stared at Ava and smiled
“ you think you are rhyming, sweet and fine.
But your skills are lacking ,like a missing line.
You call that rhyme, when I know the game.
My rhyme are fire, your are just lame claims” Femi rhymed rudely and sharply “ that’s what we call a rhyme” he said to Ava harshly.
Precious stared at Femi dreamily
“ just the perfect guy” she whispered to herself.
Ava frowned. what a fool.
“ whatever” she said resigning.
Femi smiled
“ accepting defeat require a lot of courage. I’m proud of you” Femi said seriously.
Ava stared at Femi testily, she rolled her eye balls in annoyance. She wanted to say something but she saw Kofi. She frowned. Kofi saw her and walked up to her. He formed a smile when he stopped in front of her
“ how are you doing?” he asked nicely.
Precious smiled when she saw Kofi while Obi frowned. Femi just gave the look of who- is- this.
“ I’m fine” Ava said and formed a smile.
Kofi looked at Precious and Obi
“ hey”
Precious widened her eyes and smiled widely.
“ I’m good” Obi replied sharply. Kofi noticed Obi tone, but he didn’t care about Obi. So what’s the point. Kofi saw Femi and frowned
“who the f**k are you?” he asked sharply.
Femi looked at Kofi and smiled
“ I’m Femi. A new transferred student.” Femi stretched is hand for a hand shake.
Kofi stared at Femi for a little moment. Then looked at Ava
“ see you around” he said a little bit rude and left. Surprising everyone.
Femi slowly dropped his hand
“ so that was nice” Femi said sarcastically.
Ava sighed. What the hell just happened? She look around confused.then walked away.
Precious smiled at Femi to cover up this awkward moment. She faced Femi
“ he’s not like that. Maybe he’s just angry” Precious said warmly.
Obi scoffed rudely
“ yeah. Just angry” Obi said flatly.
Femi smiled then faced Precious
“ you are right. He’s just angry” he said softly “ I should be going. Goodbye” he said and walked away. He removed the smile on his face when he was far from Precious and Obi and replaced it with a frown filled with anger
“ what a bastard” he said angrily.

“ what the hell is wrong with you?” Ava shouted at Kofi angrily, when they were far from NEC hall. He stopped walking and stared at her. He looked at her for a while, then walked closer to her, slowly. Each step was filled with anger and authority. She was scared, but she tried to hide it. Kofi stopped in front of her, he was only a few inches away from her.
“ never question me , with that tone” he said slowly and threateningly. Ava stomach tightened, but she stared at him with the remaining confidence that has not been crushed my Kofi’s gaze.
“ you should not threaten me with that tone” she said sharply.
Kofi scoffed. Then chuckled.Then laughed. His laughter made Ava feel inferior. When he stopped, Ava was relieved.
Kofi stared at Ava, this time he was smiling. He was mocking Ava.
“ your words makes me laugh” he frowned “ but sometimes I get tired of it” he said harshly. Ava scoffed softly
“ why did you behave that way?” Ava asked seriously. Kofi sighed then smacked his lips angrily
“ so all this is because of that guy?” he moved closer to Ava “ I don’t like him. That’s it”
Ava frowned
“ stop acting like Femi is the only one you don’t like. You literally hate everyone but you still pretend to like them. Why can’t you do that with Femi?” Ava said annoyingly.
“ I don’t trust him…’ Kofi paused “ in front of the whole school…you were flirting with him” Kofi said getting enrage.
Ava looked at Kofi confused. She sighed softly.
“ are you perhaps…jealous” Ava asked unsure.
Kofi chuckled softly then frowned
“ I’m not sure what’s disgusting, your words or your presence. You mean nothing to me. Let that get straight into your head.” he said rudely .
Ava was pained but she didn’t show it.
“ all I care about is your family wealth. Do not ruin that for me” Kofi said darkly.
“ of course. I was expecting nothing less from you” Ava said angrily “ my friendship with anybody is none of your business” she said sharply.
Kofi looked apathetic
“ just don’t let it affect me…or it will become my business” Kofi formed a smile “ don’t be late for our date” Kofi said nicely. Then walked away.
Ava stared at Kofi as he walked away. He was responsible for most of her problems.
For the past one year, Miriam has been treating her like trash all because of Kofi.
She has had bottles smashed on her head, all because she refuse to go out with him.
Apart from Miriam, she knew Kofi has a bigger motive. He is a threat…that is getting bigger and closer.
She needs to get rid of him. A life without him would be delightful. He’s like a cloud- when he dissapears, it’s a beautiful day.
Kofi needs to go.
CHAPTER NINE.
Obi kissed Shade again, this time just a peck. They were in his room, watching Love Island on his phone. Obi was happy, this is the first girl he has ever liked that like him back.
He smiled at Shade and she smiled back then frowned. Obi noticed the frown
“ what’s wrong” he asked worriedly.
Shade sighed then faced Obi
“ can you…” she hesitates “ distance yourself from Ava” Shade asked slowly.
Obi looked at her confused then smile
“ you are joking right?” Obi asked cheerfully.
Shade formed a smile. What’s the point?. she doesn’t like Ava. She hated Obi and Ava friendship. But there is nothing she can do.
“ I was just teasing you” Shade said and laughed.

Kofi was walking fast, someone was following him. He looked back and saw the person. He walked faster.
He was always hunted and targeted. This was his life. He looked back and saw no one. He stopped.
They were here already . He waited. Let’s get this done.
The first punch was from behind, he groaned and turned around. He dogged the second punch and landed a punch on his attacker face , the attacker fell down giving Kofi an opportunity to overpower his attacker. Kofi punched his attacker angrily until his attacker fell unconscious. He looked at his attacker face , it was filled with blood. Kofi stood and smiled a little. He turned around and sighed weakly and worriedly.
They surrounded him. They were four and had weapons. They were not planning to kill him, they only carried sticks, they were planning to beat him up.
They pushed him to the ground and started hitting him. Kofi didn’t try to fight back. If he tried he won’t win. So he just took it all in.
