TANGLED HEART CHAPTER SEVEN

NEC was transformed from a school to a club. The string of light crisscross the ceiling casting a warm glow paper lantern. The scattered glass center pieces creates a magnificent reflection. The playlist of upbeat pop music creates room for catchy dance steps. The hall is filled with both murmur conversation, Burt of laughter and cling of glass.

In the middle of it all, Ava is seen talking to some guest.

Ava smiled

“ so after the spring, we are starting a charity organization, for the kids. Anytime I see children suffering I feel heartbroken.I really want to help, I need to” Ava said warmly.

Precious tapped Ava drawing Ava’s attention. Ava turned around, she smiled when she sighted Precious

“ oh my gosh, you look gorgeous”Ava said in astonishment. Precious began to blush

“ I know right?” Precious said.

" What with the makeup?"

" What with the party?"

" You will soon know"

" So will you"

Ava looked around

“ have you seen Obi” she asked.

Precious smiled

“ well kinda. Obi has a girlfriend”

Ava widened her eyes

“ girlfriend?” she asked confused “ when did that all begin?”

“ not really long. Her name is Shade. She’s kinda cute” she paused “ but we are more classy , beautiful, cute and sexy than her” Precious said defensively.

“ of course we are” Ava said ,supporting Precious . Ava chuckled “ I can’t believe Obi has a girlfriend”.

“well you gotta believe it” Precious looked around and saw Obi and Shade kissing “ look, look,look” she said excitedly.

Ava turned around

“ where?” she asked getting curious. She looked around and saw Obi and Shade kissing , she smiled

“ romantic…” Ava smiled “ but disgusting”

Precious let out a little laugh

“ just say you are kinda jealous.wait I’ll be right back” Precious said and left.

Ava scoffed

“Jealous?”she turned around and saw Aliyah.

“please have you seen Joke , she has been missing for days” Aliyah said to Ava sadly.

Ava smiled warmly

“ I have no idea…don’t worry she will be fine_ maybe she is just taking a break or something. You know she is going through a lot, maybe she just needs space” Ava said calmly.

“ I’m so worried. What if she kills herself?I mean her parent just got divorce” Aliyah said tearfully.

Ava sighed

“ don’t worry she can’t kill herself” Ava said warmly “ something else has done the job” Ava whispered to herself.

" But she can!" Aliyah shouted.

" Abi dis one dey craze" Ava thought to herself.

" Don't worry she will soon come"

" I hope"

" Keep hoping and it will work. Remember ' hope is a cruel beast but it's the reason we are living ' "

Aliyah sniffed

“ if you come in contact with her, please call me”

Ava nodded her head

“ sure”.

Aliyah smiled a little and left.Ava frowned

“ bullshit” she looked around and saw Miriam “ another bullshit”

Miriam walked closer to Ava frowning

“ so what’s with the party?” Miriam asked dryly.

Ava sighed and forced a smile

“ you will find out soon enough”

Miriam scoffed and walked closer to Ava

“ I hop this is not a waste of time” Miriam said seriously.

Ava chuckled lightly

“ trust me, this will be worthwhile” Ava said seriously.

“ I’m very hard to please ,so don’t be too sure” Miriam said rudely.

Ava rolled her eye balls

“ alright.”she paused “ excuse me “ Ava said a little bit rude. And walked away.

Kofi was standing on the stage,he took the mic

“ hello everyone” he said drawing everyone attention.

Ava looked at Kofi, she frowned

“ still looks like a fool in the spotlight” she said rudely.

Kofi noticed that he has already gotten everyone's attention, he smiled

“ thank you all for coming to this party. Unlike my previous parties, this party is not for fun…but to celebrate something special. Or should I say…” he paused and stared at Ava “ someone special”

There was low murmurings from the crowd. They all wanted to know who it was.

Kofi smiled widely

“ this party is for the one I love. Ava Eze”

Everyone stared at Ava. She owns the spotlight now. She was Kofi’s girlfriend. An important spot in NEC. Ava walked slowly to the stage

“ now the game begins” she thought to herself and faced Miriam who was staring at her

“ good job” Miriam lip sync.

Ava looked away from Miriam and stared at Kofi.

Precious faced Obi, who was beside her. She was full of smiles

“ I knew she would accept him. I mean who won’t accept him…” she stared at Kofi “ he’s kofi. He’s such a nice guy” she said dreamily.

“ yeah, so nice” Obi said sarcastically.

Ava stopped in front of Kofi

“ nice job” Ava said softly.

" It's kinda my thing"

" I thought your think was being flirty. Oh , I mean flirty with no brains"

" And I thought yours was being senseless. Even with brains"

Ava frowned then formed a smile

" Just do your job"

" I think I was doing that before you interfered"

Kofi smiled and faced the crowd

“ from now on, I urge everyone to respect Ava…she is a part of me.” he paused “ and anyone who disrespect her, gets it” Kofi said a little bit darkly. Kofi faced Ava

“ shall we dance?” he asked warmly.

Ava smiled

“ sure”

Dare frowned

“ I don’t like this”

Kofi placed his hands on Ava’s waist. And Ava placed her arm around Kofi neck. A slow back ground music begins to play. They began to dance slowly and warmly.

“ I can’t believe I’m dancing with you. This is a nightmare” Ava whispered to Kofi. Kofi chuckled

“ do you really hate me that much?” he asked even though he already knew the answer.

Ava sighed

“ you don’t wanna know” Ava looked around “ I think we pulled it off”

Kofi sighed

“ me to. But I don’t think Miriam believes us” Kofi said seriously.

Ava looked at Kofi confused

“ what do you mean? Of course she bought it”

Kofi stared at Ava deadpanned

“ no she isn’t gullible” Kofi said sharply.

Ava sighed

“i need her to believe me”

Kofi kept quiet for a while

“ let prove to her that we are dating”

Ava stared at Kofi confused

“ what do you mean, we are…”

Kofi’s lips landed on Ava’s, cutting her off. Ava widened her eyes in surprise. She wasn’t expecting this. The kiss was soft and warm and even though it lasted only for a short time. She liked it. She stared at Kofi when he pulled away. They were no longer dancing.

Precious smiled

“ so cute”

Obi frowned

“ disgusting” he said irritably.

Miriam smiled a little

“ now everything is going into place” Miriam said darkly.

Ava was still staring at Kofi, she was speechless. She smiled after a while

“ let’s show her that we are dating” she said slowly. She stood on her toes and kissed Kofi. She didn’t kiss him passionately. She just kissed him_only for the crowd to see. This was it. The game has already begun.
