CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

" a press conference?"

" No, a dress conference" Kofi replied rudely. Ava frowned

" What am I going to use a press conference to do?"

Kofi frowned

" We are in a lot of s**t right now"

" I can see that"

" Well this is all your fault. Use the press conference to create a new narrative about you and Femi. Use your brain"

Ava scoffed lightly

" Ode" she whispered to herself.

" So we are doing a press conference. To save my butt" Ava paused then stared Kofi " are you cheating?" Ava asked seriously and darkly.

" What" Kofi asked very confusing. He walked closer to Ava " cheating?" He smiled " and why will you think that"

" You never questioned me" Ava said softly.

" About what?"

" Me and Femi"

" Why will I care?"

" We are in a relationship"

" But it's fake"

Ava looked away from Kofi getting annoyed

" You should have at least asked"

Kofi chuckled

" Shouldn't I be the annoyed one. I was wrong about you. Femi might actually like you"

Ava stared at Kofi sadly

" He doesn't" she said softly.

" And how do you know that?"

" I just know"

" Really?"

" Yes!"

Ava sighed then stared at Kofi chest

" Cause he said so. He told me he doesn't love me" Ava said sadly and slowly.

Kofi kept quiet for a while

" Not surprised" he said flatly.

Ava stared at Kofi annoyingly

" Really. Not surprised?"

" Is there a problem?"

" I just f*****g expressed my feelings and you say ' not surprised' "

" So?"

" He told me he doesn't like me. He broke my heart. And I'm here telling you all this and you can't even be sympathetic "

Kofi smiled then frowned

" So?" He scoffed " you can't expect me to pat you or hug you. Do you? "

Ava frowned

" I expected you to at least do something that will make me smile. But nevermind. You are Kofi"

Kofi stared at Ava, walked closer to her slowly. although he could read the fear in Ava's eyes he didn't stop walking until he was few inches away from her. And by 'few inches ', they were so close that they could feel each other breath.

" Something that will make you smile" Kofi said softly and sexily. He stared at Ava's lips " you want to smile right?" Kofi asked still staring at Ava's lips.

Ava swallowed hard and her body shivered

" Ne ... nevermind. Emm you don't..."

The soft and warm lips cut her off. Kofi's lips were on hers and it deepened every second. Ava wanted to stop. No, she wanted it to go on. Ava slowly caressed Kofi's chest. She enjoyed everything. The way Kofi kisses her, the way he touches her waist and the way he stares at her. She enjoyed all of it. Ava slowly kissed his back. This time it wasn't for the crowd to see. It was for ...

Ava and Femi stared at the door. Ava quickly removed her hands from Kofi's chest. She bit her lips.

Femi was standing in front of her. Kofi frowned. His hand around Ava's waist

" What do you want?" Kofi asked dryly.

Femi looked at Ava for a while. Expecting her to push Kofi away. Femi stared at Kofi

" I wanted to talk to Ava. About what. Is going on"

Kofi scoffed

" We are busy. So if you don't mind..."

" Ava can talk for herself" Femi cut in rudely. He stared at Ava.

Ava looked at Femi for a brief moment then Kofi. Kofi was obviously angry.

" I will see you soon" Ava said slowly to Femi.

Femi smiled, looked at Kofi then walked out. Kofi removed his hands from Ava's waist.

" It might be important"

" Yeah sure" Kofi said sarcastically.

" I better go" Ava said, trying hard not to stare at Kofi. Gosh, she just kissed him.

" I'm not holding you back. You fit go"

Ava sighed. He said pidgin. And according to Dare, Kofi says pidgin only when his pride is hurt.

Was it the kiss that hurt his pride or Femi? Ava walked to a chair,took her backpack. She stared at Kofi's back. He wasn't going to stare at her. She was sure of that.

" Bye-bye" Ava left without waiting for a reply. Well she was sure she was not going to get it .

" What do you want?" Ava asked Femi.

" I want to fix the s**t that is going on" Femi said seriously.

Ava sighed then looked at Femi

" Don't bother "

" I have to bother. I'm a part of this "

" I will fix it "

Femi moved closer to Ava

" I can help you " he said warmly.

Ava frowned

" I said don't bother " Ava said frustrated " I will fix it. If you really want to help. You shouldn't even be close to me at this moment "

Femi sighed sadly and walked a little farther away from Ava.

" Is that all?" Ava asked coldly.

" I know you are mad. About what happened, but..."

Ava scoffed cutting Femi off

" You really think high of your self. The only reason why I'm like this is because you are a suspect"

" Suspect?" Femi asked uncertain

" You could have posted it"

" What!" He scoffed " really? I did it. Why? Just why?"

" Ask yourself that"

Femi sighed sadly

" You have to believe me. I have nothing to do with this . I mean it" Femi said calmly.

Ava stared at Femi. He was right, why would he do it?

" Okay. But I'll fix it. So don't do anything " Ava said and left.

Femi stared at Ava until she was no longer in sight. Then formed a little smile.

" Tic Tok. Tic Tok. Time. is. ticking."

CHAPTER NINETEEN.

Kofi walked into the house. It's been long since he has been here. He looked around. And smiled. Those pictures always have a way of getting to him.

He felt comfortable, so comfortable. But a part of him told him he had to go . He can't be here.

Kofi walked into the basement. He needed to know the truth. He opened the shelves, but he couldn't find that file.

If Dark Shadow was his estranged father as he suspected, it should be here.

Was his suspicion valid? It's wasn't, but it could be observed. Dark Shadow always called him Junior. The name his father called him. His father calling him Junior is literally the only memory he can remember of his dad .

He had amnesia. He only remembers little. Like his dad saying ' I love you ' and his dad shouting ' you should have died'

According to the inspector. Something happened that night. But only him can tell. That night his father went missing and three people died. People he has no memory of.

What happened? Why did people die? Is his father really Dark Shadow?

Kofi scoffed. If his father is really Dark Shadow, then what ever happened that night must...

" Found you" Kofi said quietly and smiled. He brought out the file from the shelf. Opening it only brought confusion.

His father wanted to protect Eze.

But Dark Shadow wants to destroy him.

Is this really his dad? Or did everything change that night?

" So nothing's there?"

" Yes nothing"

" Good"

" Good" Ava said and smiled a little. After the twenty minutes interrogation from Precious. She was actually pleased. And petrified. Twenty minutes ago, Precious would have killed her with her eyes. Note: never let any pictures of you and your best friend crush get posted. Intimate or not.

" We need to fix this" Precious said seriously " this is actually affecting both the KMA and AMA"

Ava sighed frustrated

" And it's affecting me"

" I'm sorry" Precious said warmly " whoever did this should get ready to have their body blended" Precious said darkly and dramatic, making Ava to widen her eyes in surprise

" Did you hit your head?"

" No"

" Recieve any heartbreak recently?"

" No "

" Any get- A- life lecture from your mum"

"No " Precious said confused.

" Well that's surprising " Ava whispered to herself.

Precious sighed

" I haven't even seen Femi. I feel for him. I mean... People are spreading nasty rumors about him"

Ava frowned

" Yeah, I really feel for him " Ava said sarcastically.

" Ok what the plan "

" You will see"

" Sounds intriguing "

" Is it, right?" Ava smiled

" I better go" Precious said then smiled " can't wait for your plan " Precious said warmly and left.

Ava frowned. He wasn't in school. Wow, he must really be taking that STAY AWAY FROM ME seriously. Femi is a not a suspect , she believed that.But she can't take any

risk.

She had a lot to think about. Gosh, she needs to stop thinking about Femi. Femi really attracted her. There was something about him... something. She doesn't know what it is, but it made her really like him.

Ava stared at the people in the auditorium. She was on the stage. With Kofi. She sighed quietly. It was time. Time to save herself, time to tell another lie.

The silence was killing. Gosh, people was really interested in this. People wanted to know the truth. But Ava knew she would only give them another believing lie. She is cunny and deceitful and she was going to prove it.

" Thank you all for believing in me and coming to hear me..."

" Just go to the f*****g point you cheat!" Someone shouted from the crowd. Cutting Ava off and surprising most people. Ava angrily forced a little smile. She wished she could find the asshole who said that but she knew it was a waste of time.

" I understand that you are angry. I will be too. But I want you guys to trust me. And believe me. " Ava paused " I'm giving you all an opportunity to ask and get it all out "

" Did you really date him?" Enny said rudely immediately she stood up.

Ava stared at Enny , wasn't this the same girl who treated her like a god.

" No." Ava sniffed. Time to look pitiful " me and Femi are just friends..."

" Then explain those pics!" someone else shouted that.

" Enemies. I have a lot of that." Ava said sadly " someone is trying to ruin me. And unfortunately it's working " Ava looked at Kofi for a brief moment. He was unreadable. Just standing beside her, doing nothing but being and looking good like always.

Ava looked at the crowd, mostly the AMA and KMA members.

" Me and Femi are actually childhood friends, we just reconcile after four years. You guys should understand. I just met my childhood friend so I was excited. Very excited. "

Everyone was paying attention. And she knew some were buying it. People are really guilible.

" We went out, you know, to catch up. And I guess some of my haters took advantage of that. " Ava eyes were getting all wet " it really hurt that I could be doubted. It hurt so much" Ava paused " you call yourself my fans, my ride or die, my supporters, my friends. But you leave me without looking back, you judge me without hearing me out, you betray me and yet justify yourself. You made me stand here to explain to you what I thought you already knew. I am ,today, standing here justifying myself to people I thought will never doubt me!" Ava shouted tearfully and emotionally.

Kofi scoffed quietly. ' omo dis girl good oh' he wanted to say it out but he just said it in his head. Ava has done her part and he was happy, she was good an smart but he wasn't going to show it. It was time to do his, Kofi moved closer to Ava put his arms around Ava's waist .

Ava stared at kofi, surprise that he was actually going to something rather than standing beside her being useless. Kofi smiled at her and for the first time, she felt it wasn't a forced smile.

Kofi stared at the crowd

" I'm actually disappointed at everyone who doubted her. I didn't even want her to be here. But she wanted to see for herself. And as you can see, you all really hurt her" Kofi said possessively. He smiled when his eyes locked Femi's eyes " Femi is just. Just a friend, nothing more. And as long as I'm here, no one can take my spot from me." Kofi smiled " even. Femi knows this " Kofi said , making sure every word stick to everyone, especially Femi.

Kofi was extremely pleased when he saw the frown on Femi's face.

" This rumor should...must end . Anyone who ever think they can destroy me and Ava should try to do something better than this. Cause this is bullshit " Kofi said darkly.

Ava shivered, he was taking this too serious, and it scared her, a little. Ava forced a smile. And walked down the stage, away from the auditorium with Kofi's arm still around her waist.

And she liked it. A little bit much. And it scared her.
