Chapter 1
They say we fall in love with three people in our lifetime. Our first love, this love often happens at a young age. You eventually grow apart and call it quits over silly things. When you grow older you may look back and think that it was not love. But the truth is... It was. It was love for what you knew love to be. At least that is how I imagined my first love to be. On a hot summers day, I found myself walking along the roads. The roads close to a place where I call home. My neighborhood. Soft forest green grass beneath my shoes and hunter green trees as tall as a light pole outside every yard that I passed. The sounds of chirping birds and barking dogs played everywhere in the area. The only bad part of that day was that the sun was shining down on us as hot as burning red coal. Feeling the hot tar through your sandles is the most unpleasant part of a hot day. Towards the ending of my walk I came across my group of friends. Joanna, the eldest of the group. Rahil, the youngest. Samuel, the groups clown. Trevor, the groups fighter. And Leo, my closet guy friend. I personally feel having the opposite gender as your friend is way better then having someone that is the same gender as you... hence all my male friends. As I approached the whole group, it turned out that I was their topic of conversation whilst walking towards them. Apparently they were teasing a boy that had apparently liked me. Someone that I have never heard of or seen before. Which I feel is a tiny bit ironic due to the fact that I have not seen or heard of this boy before. "Okay so who is this charming fetching gentleman that asks for my hand without me knowing?" I ask the group in a dramatic, charming, teasing manner. The whole group just looked behind me in a mischievous glare. As I found myself slowly turning around... I suddenly hear everyone scream "MATTHEW!!!" , and once I caught a chance to process what had happened ...I found myself staring at a boy behind me. The screams that the group had made seemed to have had made the boy shy and continuously stare at the floor whilst his cheeks almost looked like a tomatoe... almost as if he was blushing... but I couldn't be to sure, the sun was striking down on us with her hot rays after all, that could easily make a pale person seem red. Either way I treated Matthew in the exact same manner as I would treat all my other guy friends. With a fist bump and a how are you doing , followed by a few jokes or teases. But the only contact I have had from him however was the fist bump and that was it. Matthew seemed to have disappeared after that. My guy friends told me that he was probably shy and would avoid me at all costs until he warms up to me. I was confused however.... mostly because I did not know what it was like to have a crush on someone. At least not having a crush on someone that was not a celebrity. I just started my teenage hood. My mindset was not focused on boys or had the slightest hint of thinking about liking someone or to fall in love. I was more of the 'having fun' , 'tomboy' , 'not worried' kind of girl. I did not have that need to be held by someone or to be comforted by a person or even to be liked/loved by a guy or a girl for that matter. I was pretty fine on my own and did not understand why other girls craved or needed this specific attention and affection from someone, preferably a boy. I did not understand that part... At least... Not as yet.
