Chapter Three

Bella

I hated to see this day come. Not only did I have to spend four hours decorations it this morning. Now I have to attend the Prom here. It not only doesn't help that it's in Huntlys' family resort, but that my mom is the head of all the events that take place here. So, of course, she will be here. One more reason to be hassled about.

Mom made sure my dress was ready and perfect. She still hopes that one day, I will become like the rest of the girls in our pack.Lets face reality, which most likely will never happen. I have to admit my sister picked out a very nice gown. It's a princess style light blue with lace and segums. Looking in the mirror, I was surprised to see a girl looking back at me. Mom's necklace accented it well. That helped.

Hearing a knock on my door, I see Sarah walking in with a wrist corsage. "I think you need this to finish the look. I will be there with mom. So you are not alone. " Sarah gives me a wink.

The hall is already packed with the seniors and their dates. I see Tabby and Amanda sitting at the grand table. Of course, they look fabulous as always. Tabby form fitting dress shows off her curves and top line. Amanda has a mile lone train on hers. Always a show off.

I see the girls from my advanced math class. They call us the nerdy smart kids. That's fine. Sometimes, we can just tone them out. Other times, they get under our skin.Watching the whole senior class turn toward the door, we all knew Huntly was arriving. Tabby makes her way to the front of the crowd. It was odd that Tabby was here before Huntly, but whatever.

Wow, no one saw that coming. In walked Huntly, but Tabby wasn't the one to be his date for the night. Hanging on his arm was another girl.

"What?" Everyone heard Tabby yell. "You brought your new secretary to the dance! No way. I was to be your date. You just met Sophia yesterday."

"Sorry, but my dad insisted that I bring her. We can sit together. I still am basically your date."Huntly whispered to her. I couldn't hold it in any longer and started to laugh. It wasn't long and half the Prom was laughing.

Curtis was not only Huntlys best friend but was the beta of our pack.To bad Huntly didn't take lessons from him on how to treat people. Curtis was a sweet, nice guy who never put anyone down. A far cry from Huntly.

The dj played a slow song, and Tabby grabbed the opportunity to get Huntly on the floor. Curtis asked Amanda to dance. The look on Sophia's face was priceless. It wasn't long, and Sophia was cutting in on the dance. Tabby threw her hands up and stormed off to the table.

I was drinking way too much water because I was bored, so I made a trip to the ladies' room. Only to run smack into Tabby and Amanda.

"Oh, look, it's the ugly duckling of the pack trying to be a princess. Haven't you figured out you are not able to be a fairy tale. There's no help for you."

I just bit my tongue and left as fast as I could only to be confronted by them in the dance hall. Tripping me as I entered the room. Tabbys laughter filled the hall as everyone turned to see what was happening. Tears rolled down my face as I realized the fall tore my dress. Reaching over, Tabby took a bottle of water and poured it over my head. "There maybe that will wash away the stench of a loser."She said out loud as she chuckled. Amanda joined in on the fun, kicking the water that lay on the floor into my face.

From nowhere Huntly appeared, grabbing Tabbys arm. "Leave her alone. This is not necessarily. "He growled in a low harsh voice. Reaching his hand out, he helped me up.

"What are you doing. This is embarrassing. "Tabby snapped at him.

"She is mate. Leave her alone."He grumbled back.

By now, Sophia has made her way over. "Are you kidding me. This is your mate. You poor boy. We have got to do something about that." Grabbing both Sophia and Tabbys arm, Huntly walked away, pulling them along. Now, the whole senior class is staring at me, and the whispers begin.

Sarah comes running over. Thank God for my sister. Breaking up the crowd and moving them on, she comes to my aid." Sis, are you okay. Come on, let's leave this place."Helping me up, we leave in her car. "Thanks for rescuing me." She just smiled.

Back at the house, we both changed into some comfy clothes and gathered snacks for our favorite show. It wasn't long, and the pizza arrived. " Girls pig out night."Sarsh says.

"I can't believe Huntly is your mate. When did you find out?"

"The night before Prom. He was being a jerk and kissed me. That's when his wolf revealed I was his mate. "

"That's got to be a crazy mistake. Why would the gods put you with someone like him?"

"Good question. When I figure that out , I'll let you know." We both laughed and stuffed our faces with all the snacks and pizza.

Mom got home about three hours later. She was telling us that the clean-up crew never waited around. So, the adults had to clean up the mess.

"So mom, how did it go with Tabby and Sophis the rest of the night?" Mom rolled her eyes, and as politely as she could say,"What a s**t show."

The next morning, we were all woken by the knocking on the door. Answering the door, we could hear a man's voice. It was Roman. " Jenny, here are the keys to my office, I will be gone for a month. Monday Huntly will take over. It's your job to show him the ropes. Train him well." As I walked to the door, Roman looked at me in a very mean way. "You caused quite a show last night. It has Huntly all upset. Next time, don't cause a scene. " He frowned at me.

"Now, wait a minute, Roman. It was Tabby that started it. Tell her to knock it off. Bella starts work there, too, on Monday. I don't need Tabby causing problems."

"I will talk to Huntly and Tabby. They will leave Bella alone."Roman tipped his hat and left.

"Mom, I don't want to work there."

"Well, it's the only job open right now. As soon as you find another one you can leave." Mom gives me that, it's final look.

Sunday passed too quickly, and soon, it was Monday morning. This morning, on the way to work, I find out my job is errand girl. I will get all the things the staff needs and refill whatever needs it. Just great.

My heart sank. What a job, I was the resorts errand and filler girl. What a joke. I hold my breath as mom introduces me to the morning staff and maids. I guess it could be worse. Two of my friends are starting out as maids for the summer until college starts.

Walking to Huntlys office , mom unlocks the door. It's smells of cologne and cigars and Roman. A few seconds later, Huntly shows up. Mom informs him of his training schedule and what's expected of him.Sophia makes her way into the office. As she starts barking orders of supplies she needs, mom backs her up real fast. "Don't bark orders of what you need. Write them down and give me the list. I will have Bella bring them to you."

"Oh ya, that's right. She's the poor little errand girl. So sad."Was all I heard as we left the office. Mom just winked at me and kept on walking.
