Chapter 1
" That can't be," Baron Chase sprang up from the posh leather sofa. Seething with rage. How could his late father demand such from him? Who does that? "But that's what your late father's will says," Mr. Clarke said. As a lawyer, Mr. Clarke knew someone would definitely kick against a demand. That morning, members of the Chase family had gathered to hear the last will and testament of Arthur Chase who died months back in an auto crash. The family was devastated to have lost such an iconic figure and a wealthy businessman. "My father has no right or whatsoever to tell me what to do," Baron spat. Other members of the family who were sitting in the well-furnished living room whispered among themselves. "The will says, in order to inherit your father's estate, you must get married two weeks from now. If you fail to do so, it will pass to your stepmother, Alicia," the lawyer stated. Baron's eyes glazed with rage. At the mention of the name Alicia, he felt like strangling her. He sat down and calmed himself down. He wouldn't want to give other members of the family a show and then have them gossip about him all day. Not like he cares anyway. He hated everything that had to do with marriage. The idea of being tied to one woman for the rest of his life made no sense to him. "Isn't there a way around this?," Baron asked. He knew it was pointless asking, but somehow, a tiny flame of hope sparked in him. His stepmother, Alicia, smiled like she had won a contract. " Come on Baron, don't drag this any further. There are other matters to attend to, right Mr. Clarke?" Baron's jaw clenched in anger, the veins in his head were popping. " Shut up woman, I wasn't talking to you," he barked. He had never liked Alicia his stepmother. They once had something going on before, but it ended after she schemed her way into his father's life. "Show some respect, Baron. I am your late father's wife," she lashed out. The members of the family who were sitting looked on as Baron and Alicia exchanged hated words. They knew it would be fruitless to stop them. "I do not care if you're married to my father. As far as I am concerned, you're nothing but a gold digger and a social climber who sneaked into the chase family," Baron thundered in rage. Mr. Clarke, the lawyer, raised his hands in objection before the whole thing would turn into a third world war. " That's enough Baron and Alicia. We have to continue." "Well, I am not the issue here. It's Baron," Alicia said as she adjusted her skimpy gown. Making a mental note to go shopping for more clothes after the will is read. Mr. Clarke ignored her and flipped through the document he was holding. Then he continued reading the will. "If my son, Baron, refuses to get married two weeks from when the will is read, my estate and wine factory will pass to my wife Alicia. But if he gets married as demanded, he is entitled to pay Alicia a monthly salary from the wine factory. My mansion and car should be given to Alicia. The other members of the family are entitled to the sum of 50,000 dollars each. This is the last will and testament of Arthur Chase." Baron chase got up, he balled his hands into a tight fist as he gave Alicia a cold look. He hated her with passion. Then he strode out of the gathering. He got outside, his driver sighted him and quickly came down to open the car for Baron. And he stepped in. In his car, Baron was enraged. Once again, his father had succeeded in putting him in a tight corner. How was he supposed to get married in two damn weeks? The women in his life wouldn't fit in. These were just for warming his bed and satisfying his high libido, nothing more. There was no way on earth he would leave his father's estate and wine factory for Alicia. That b***h. He will definitely deal with her when all of this is over. The car pulled up in front of Remix Enterprise own By Baron Chase. It was one of the most successful and leading tech companies in London. His years of hard work made him wealthy. He got out of his car and walked into the company. He passed the receptionist who smiled at him. He was cold and indifferent, ignoring her like he does to others. No one has ever mattered to Baron but himself. He opened the glass door and stepped into his office. He sat on the posh leather chair. He was enraged at how the whole thing had played out earlier today. His father's death was a sad incident. Him and his father had never seen eye to eye. His marriage to Alicia caused a broad rift between father and son. Lost in thought, he did not know when the door opened and his friend came in. "Hello, Baron," Seth greeted them as he pulled back a chair and sat down. Baron was surprised to see his friend. Damn. He was losing concentration and he didn't like it. "Welcome, man. What's up?," Baron responded. Seth chuckled. "I should be asking you that. You seemed lost in thought. How did it go?" "That old man demands that I get married in two weeks to lay claim to his estate and wine factory. What nonsense! " Baron growled. Seth whistled in surprise. " You're in for the adventure of your life. Your father seems to be controlling you from the great beyond. He has a firm hold on you." Baron scowled at Seth. " No, he does not.". " You never wanted anything from your father. You rose to prominence on your own by starting from scratch. Why are you bothered? You can just allow Alicia to have them. You're a wealthy billionaire. I am aware of your net worth," Seth said. Baron's eyes sparked in rage like burning coals. " I will never allow Alicia to get a cent from my father.”
