Luciano
We would be staying with Adriano and his family for a month. At that time, I wanted to learn as much as I could about him and his family. I wanted to learn his secrets and learn any weakness he might have. I was sitting in the living room with Heitor and Demetri when we saw Camila skipping down the hall. She had headphones on and was dancing to whatever music she was listening to. Demetri and Heitor only watched her for a moment. My eyes stayed glued to her. She didn't notice us. She danced her way into the kitchen and grabbed an apple. She started to sing. Rosa was right she didn't have that good of a voice but she seemed to not care. Perhaps it is because she didn't have to hear it. She spun around and in an instant, she saw us. She dropped her apple and had her mouth slightly parted. In the verge of a gasp, I believe. She picked up her apple and ran upstairs. I didn't see her the rest of the day.
The Next Day
She was up early, so was I. I never sleep in. She was dressed in denim shorts and a white crop top. She grabbed her bag and left. I don't know why but I was tempted to follow her. She ended up at a diner. I saw her go to the back and grab an apron. I was sitting in my car watching her begin to take people's orders. Why would she work when she didn't need to? She smiled at every customer even if they didn't say hello to her. Even when they were clearly rude or disgusting. She smiled. Her dimples are on full display for everyone. I rolled my eyes. I saw some jerk hassling her. She tried to remain cool. I got angry at that. She should have snapped at him or done something. I got out of my car and went into the diner. She was in the back so I walked over to the guy and spun my knife out of my pocket. I slammed it down near his hand.
"LEAVE!" I said harshly. He looked at me as if he couldn't believe what I had just done. "NOW!" He looked into my eyes and decided to walk away. I took a seat at his table and waited for her.
"Here's your," she paused. "What are you doing here? Where is?"
"Hello," I greeted. "Sit,"
"I can't,"
"Please,"
"Um," she contemplated it. "Only for a minute."
"So, you work?" I asked. She nodded. "Why?"
"I like it," she answered.
"How could you possibly?"
"It's fun and I don't want to just stay at home and do nothing," I said.
"You could go shopping,"
"Wow, is that really all you think girls like to do?"
"I guess not all of them,"
"I have to get back to work," she stood up and was about to walk away. "Do you want anything?"
"No, I was just leaving," I told her.
Camila didn't come home early. We were eating dinner when she just strolled in. No one said a word. I looked at her curiously. Was she not going to say where she was? I began to tap my foot on the ground. Heitor noticed.
"Where have you been?" he said in his low growly voice.
"Um, at school," she answered. She looked surprised and half delighted that he spoke to her.
"Do you? Did you go to college?" she asked. He didn't answer. I looked over at him.
"Yes, I did," Heitor answered.
"Oh," she smiled. "What did you study?"
"Business management and law," he answered.
"Wow," she began to eat. I wondered what she was thinking. Heitor didn't look like the type to go to school, let alone be studious but Luciano, well he was well known to be a genius.
"So," she wanted to continue the conversation but I knew Heitor wouldn't.
"What do you study?" I asked.
"Oh, um early childhood education," she answered.
"You want to be a preschool teacher," I smirked.
"Well," she put her head down.
"What do you do Heitor?" I almost didn't respond. For a second, I forgot I was pretending to be Heitor.
"Oh, well besides looking after this one, I run my own restaurant," I told him.
"Wow," Mrs. Hernandez smiled. "And you Demetri?"
"I only look out for Luciano," he said.
"Dedication and loyalty, I respect that," Adriano said as he glared at me. He really didn't like me much. If only he knew I was the son he so desperately wanted to have love him.
"Well, maybe you can cook for us one day," Camila said. I was shocked by her request. I never expected her to be so forward. We finished dinner and all left for our rooms.
I heard Camila's door open. She was trying to sneak out. Interesting. I waited until she was downstairs and then I followed her. She went to the back of the kitchen and through a side door. I followed her into the indoor pool area. Rosa and Adriana were already there.
"You guys have a pool too," Camila said.
"Yes but not with cute boys in it," Rosa said. "Did you invite them?"
"Rosa, you barely turned seventeen, please relax," Camila said.
"What is age?"
"A number that sends you to jail if you are above or below it," she snapped. Camila did have fire in her. Good.
"Oh come on, what is a little friendly flirty fun," Rosa snapped back. "So tell us everything you have learned so far?"
"Luciano went to school and studied business management and law," she explained.
"That's it, and I don't want to learn about our cousin, tell me about his handsome younger bodyguard,"
"Who?"
"Don't play stupid," Rosa said. "Heitor."
"Oh, um he can cook," she said.
"Really," Rosa rolled her eyes. "Look, can you get him down here or not."
"Not," Camila answered.
"Fine," Rosa and Adriana got their stuff and left. "See you later, cousin."
"Hello, Camila"
