Chapter 3: Like I said, 'Trouble Follows'

604 Words
~Nora Valentine~ After a long ass numbing flight, our feets were finally touching the ground. I was very much tempted to just bend over and kiss mother earth, but fortunately my common sense kicked in and refrained me to do so. Somewhere between my spacing out and boredom, Ruth's cousin--Thalia fetched us all from the airport. While I was receiving awkward lustful glances from Thalia in the rearview mirror as we drove to the penthouse, Valerie and Ruth were busy ogling the half-naked male population on the beach as well as in the streets. Is this what I get for being the greatest friend? For being respectful? For minding my own business? God, you sure are one heartless man. Actually, the look that Thalia's been sporting-- isn't something I'm not used to. I've been told several times that my long midnight black hair, naturally tanned skin and my unique set of eye attracts--No, it draws people to them. A physique to kill for, and long hair--I understand. But my eye colour? Are you kidding me? I have an unique set of eyes because of heterochromia. My right eye have a colour of chocolate brown and left a crystal blue. Truthfully, it caused me more harm than any good. This uniqueness might have been appealing to others, but to me they are just monstrous. A soft shake on my shoulder by Val brought me back to reality. "You okay? You've been spacing out a lot since we got here, Nora." She asked in worry. "Yeah, I was just thinking some stuff through." "Like what?" She asked innocently. "Like--which anime should I watch first?" I lied, acting thoughtful. "Bleach marathon would be a great start for my vacation, you know." [A/N : 'Bleach' is a super famous anime series.] Valerie looked at me in surprise as I helped her with the luggage, "You actually brought those with you?" "Hell no, we have our plans made and like it or not you'll be coming!" screeched a voice. Dammit, it was Ruth and she heard us talking. "I agreed to come, I don't recall myself saying that I'd participate in any of your stupid activities." sighing with exhaustion I countered her statement. She can be very persuasive if she wants to be. 'I definitely won't let down my guard and lose this battle'; I solemnly swear on my animelist. She pouted and gave me the puppy dog eyes. "You remember, our pact--" I cut her off by saying, "That won't work on me, again." "Nora, darling. Just listen to me--you're an anti-social anime & manga addict." She started. Yes, mommy. Wait--what!! "Hey! I'm not anti-social, it's just the society that's anti-me." "Whatever--all am trying to do is save you from that anti-social lifestyle." She added softly as if scolding a child for doing something he wasn't supposed to. "There's nothing wrong in being anti-social!," I complained. "I mean--Look at me, I'm still awesome." With that said I turned around to look at Thalia, and winked at her with a seductive look on my face, "Ain't I darling?" She stuttered a yes, and blushed looking away in embarrassment. I know, that's cheating. But, hey! This is war. As they say, 'Everything is fair in love and war'. Ruth scoffed, and pouted like a child I know her to be. "Okay, people." Valerie clapped her hands, gaining our full attention. "Why don't we negotiate our terms inside?" What!!? It was a clear win. I f*****g won! Then she gave me a 'I'll kill you while you're asleep' look and said, "I'm not taking no for an answer." Damn it all.
