Chapter 13
“Do we have much of a chance?” Garrett asked, “To survive all of this?”
“Such is a needless question.” The baker replied. “Who knows what will happen to us next night.”
“I will do for the situation what I can.” Val said as she stood. She recognized that morale was low and she had to do something about it. “I am confident that we all will find the necessary strength within us. The strength to stand at the sides of our neighbors, friends, and family, the power to protect what is most precious in this life and if we cannot, if we fall that we ask to be taken from this world and regarded as those who did not turn their back on their beliefs. We ask only the strength to do what needs to be done, to be strong in both victory and defeat and no matter what, to do it together.”
