Val looked around, finding many more fleeing as fast as the mayor but there were also those who could not or would not flee. Those who were not strong enough, those who had nothing but their homes and could not abandon them. Though Val was not part of the path that allied with this town, she knew that she could not abandon the people. They were the closest people to the stronghold, potential allies and good people and she could not leave them to this fate. Though it was easy for many vampires to devalue humans, this was not her way.
