Emma Hart, a timid but intelligent secretary, agrees to a six months contract marriage with the cold and commanding Drake Wolfe, a billionaire CEO with secrets of his own. The marriage is meant to save Drake’s inheritance – he must appear married to claim control of Wolfe Enterprises from his manipulative Uncle, who is part of the board of directors.

But Emma isn’t just any secretary. She’s secretly the estranged daughter of a powerful business tycoon who vanished years ago. She's been hiding under a false identity for protection. She also keeps a secret, a truth that threatens to explode everything.

Emma finds herself at the center of a deadly game of power, betrayal, and love. Will her hidden identity protect or doom her? And will Drake fight for her once he learns that she is the woman from his past?

Chapter 1: The Deal That Changed Everything
Emma checked her time and was quite disappointed. “Oh my, I am late for my interview.” She murmured. The rain fell in steady sheets against the towering glass windows of Wolfe Enterprises, even drenching the city skyline in a melancholic gray. Emma finally arrived at the building. The security man by the door immediately opened the door for her to go in. Hart went and stood by the reception desk; her fingers curled tightly around the handle of her weather-beaten purse. Her shoes were soaked from the rain, her blouse clung uncomfortably to her skin, and her resume – though freshly printed – was bent at the corners from her rushed escape from the storm. It wasn't how she planned her first entrance but there she was, and how could she have predicted the rain. But it wasn’t just the rain that morning that had left her breathless. It was the building, the empire that loomed above her like a colossus of power. It was the Wolfe Enterprises. It was really huge, beyond her imagination. She had heard of the empire, seen a glimpse of it in the news and desired to work there since all she had was now gone. She desperately needed the paycheck and she knew that a company as huge as that would most likely pay their workers well. But what Emma didn't know was that he was in it. He owned the empire. Drake Wolfe. The man she never thought she’d have to see again after the night that seemed to change her life forever. Her hands trembled slightly as she checked in with the receptionist, who barely spared her a glance before gesturing toward the elevator. Emma stepped in alone, her reflection split across the mirrored walls, fractured like the identity she was trying so hard to hide. She wasn’t just here for a job. She was here to survive not just for her but for Rolland. The interview was short, clinical, and impersonal. Drake didn’t even glance at her when he entered the room. His presence eclipsed the space like a storm front – sharp suit, controlled energy, and his eyes were quite cold and calculated. “You're overqualified for a secretarial role," his assistant murmured, flipping through Emma's resume. "But with the look of things, Mr. Wolfe needs someone discreet. Efficient. And of-course Invisible. Are you capable of that, Ms. Hart?" Invisible? That was the point, wasn’t it? Emma thought as she nodded, holding her breath. She got the job. She resumed immediately and her first few days passed in a blur of schedules, silent emails, and tense meetings where no one dared challenge the CEO. Drake never acknowledged her beyond professional necessity, and she kept her head down most of the time while she talked. She typed, fetched coffee, and kept secrets like she was obviously asked to do. Including the one that burned in her blood every time she looked at him. He didn’t remember her. He didn't remember the girl he’d met two years ago at a gala. Not even the magical and accidental night they’d shared, shrouded in shadows and champagnes that caused her to birth their child, Rolland. A lot had changed, she was no longer the daughter of the rich business tycoon he had a one-night stand with. And Emma had disappeared from that world for a reason, changed her name, and also hidden the pregnancy. She’d never intended to see Drake Wolfe again. But circumstances had dragged her back, and now she was living a lie beneath his nose, guarding the only thing that mattered to her: her child. It was exactly one week at work and everything changed. Drake summoned her into his office. With no explanations at all. Just a curt email and a heavy silence as she stepped into the sleek, expansive room. The skyline glared behind him. He sat like a statue behind the desk, fingers steepled. He looked really elegant and rich. “You’re quiet,” he said at last after she stood in his office for about five minutes. Emma swallowed. “I will try to be efficient, Mr. Wolfe.” He watched her for a long moment, something unreadable crossing his expression. “Good, nice to hear that. Because we have more pressing matters and I need a favor. A... transaction. One that requires absolute discretion." Her heart thudded as he spoke, she was a bit scared. She really didn't know what to expect. “I need a wife,” he continued with his voice really firm. "Temporarily, of course." Emma froze in shock. She just didn't know what to say. Every time she looked at him, she remembered her past and wanted something more official. But not this. “The board is now growing restless. They all think I’m too reckless to hold the reins alone. They’re now threatening my position unless I can show stability – you know, based on family and commitment. It’s really absurd getting myself into this. But I play the game to win. I need someone quiet, obedient, and with nothing to gain at least. You.” Emma stared at him, still unable to speak. Her mind spun in circles, it was as though she was dreaming. Marry Drake Wolfe? He slid a folder across the table. It was a contract. It was cold and very precise. Six months with strict rules. No intimacy. No press. Payment in full upon successful completion. She thought deeply, her son’s future could be secured with that money. Her lips parted with no words. “Well, you don’t need an answer today. You have 48 hours.” She immediately left for her apartment while she thought of it all. How that the father of her son was proposing a fake marriage to her and she couldn't tell him, it was her at the party gala because she feared rejection with her new status. She was once a rich tycoon’s daughter that he met at the gala. But now she was a nobody. An identity she never thinks Drake would ever embrace, knowing the truth. She rather kept it hidden. A secret.
