Chapter 1:The Red Carpet
Rory Thompson stepped out of the sleek black limousine and onto the red carpet, flashing a dazzling smile for the cameras. She was used to this routine by now, but it still made her heart skip a beat. As a rising star in Hollywood, she knew that her public image was everything.
The paparazzi swarmed around her, shouting her name and asking for poses. Rory obliged, striking a pose in her stunning silver gown. She was a vision of loveliness, with her long blonde hair cascading down her back and her bright blue eyes sparkling in the light.
As she made her way down the carpet, Rory's publicist, Rachel, hovered anxiously by her side. "Remember to smile and wave, darling," Rachel whispered. "And don't forget to mention your latest project in the interviews."
Rory nodded, her mind racing with the scripted responses she'd rehearsed earlier. She was a pro at this by now, but sometimes she felt like she was just going through the motions.
As she reached the entrance of the venue, Rory was stopped by a reporter from a popular entertainment show. "Rory, you look stunning tonight," the reporter gushed. "Can you tell us about your latest project?"
Rory launched into the rehearsed speech, talking about the upcoming rom-com she'd starred in and the chemistry she'd shared with her co-star. But just as she was about to move on, the reporter asked a question that caught her off guard.
"Rory, we've heard rumors about a string of high-profile breakups and tabloid scandals. Can you tell us what's going on in your personal life?"
Rory's smile faltered for a moment, but she quickly recovered. "I'm just focusing on my career right now," she said brightly. "I'm not really thinking about relationships."
The reporter nodded, but Rory could tell she wasn't buying it. As she moved on to the next interview, Rory couldn't shake the feeling that her publicist was going to have a lot of work to do to repair her image.
After the premiere, Rory met up with Rachel and her agent, Mark, at a trendy restaurant in West Hollywood. Over drinks and appetizers, they discussed the latest developments in her career and the rumors surrounding her personal life.
"Rory, we need to get you out of the tabloids," Rachel said bluntly. "You're starting to get a reputation as a heartbreaker, and it's not good for your image."
Rory sighed, feeling frustrated. "What do you suggest I do?" she asked.
Mark spoke up, his voice smooth and confident. "I think we need to get you into a stable relationship, something that will show the public you're committed and serious about your personal life."
Rory raised an eyebrow. "And who exactly do you propose I date?" she asked.
Rachel smiled slyly. "We have someone in mind," she said. "Someone who will make you look good and take the attention off your past relationships."
Rory's curiosity was piqued. "Who is it?" she asked.
Rachel leaned in, a mischievous glint in her eye. "Ethan James," she said. "He's a talented actor, and he's not too well-known yet. We think he could be the perfect fake boyfriend for you."
Rory's eyes widened in surprise. She'd heard of Ethan James, of course – who hadn't? He was charming and talented, but he wasn't exactly A-list material. Still, she had to admit that the idea of a fake relationship was intriguing.
"Okay," she said finally. "I'll do it. But just for a few months, and only if it's going to help my career."
Rachel and Mark exchanged a look of satisfaction. "Deal," Rachel said, smiling.
And just like that, Rory's fake relationship with Ethan James was born.
