Chapter 2: The Meeting

555 Words
Rory sat in her luxurious living room, sipping a cup of coffee and staring out the window at the breathtaking view of the Los Angeles skyline. She was still trying to wrap her head around the idea of a fake relationship with Ethan James. It seemed like a crazy plan, but Rachel and Mark were convinced it would work. Just then, her phone buzzed with a text from Rachel. "Ethan is on his way over," she wrote. "Be ready to meet him in 10 minutes." Rory's heart skipped a beat as she quickly got up and smoothed out her hair and clothes. She hadn't expected to meet Ethan so soon, but she was determined to make a good impression. As she waited, she couldn't help but think about Ethan James. She'd seen his movies, of course, and had always thought he was charming and talented. But she knew very little about him beyond his public persona. There was a knock at the door, and Rory's heart fluttered as she got up to answer it. She took a deep breath, pasted a smile on her face, and opened the door. Ethan James stood in the doorway, looking even more handsome than he'd looked on screen. He was tall and lean, with piercing blue eyes and a charming smile. "Hi," he said, holding out his hand. "It's great to meet you, Rory." Rory took his hand, feeling a spark of electricity as their palms touched. "Hi, Ethan," she said, trying to sound calm. "It's great to meet you too." Ethan walked into the living room, looking around at the luxurious decor. "Nice place you have here," he said, his eyes crinkling at the corners. Rory smiled, feeling a little more at ease. "Thanks," she said. "I've worked hard to get where I am." Ethan nodded, his expression serious. "I know the feeling," he said. "It's not easy making it in this industry." As they sat down on the couch, Rory couldn't help but notice the way Ethan's eyes sparkled when he talked about his craft. She felt a pang of attraction, but quickly pushed it aside. This was a fake relationship, after all. She couldn't afford to get her feelings involved. "So, let's get down to business," Ethan said, his voice professional. "Rachel told me about the plan. You're looking for a fake boyfriend to improve your public image, and I'm happy to help out." Rory nodded, feeling a little more comfortable with the arrangement. "That's right," she said. "I'm hoping this will help me get out of the tabloids and focus on my career." Ethan smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "I'm happy to be of service," he said. "But I have to ask, what's in it for me?" Rory raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What do you want?" she asked. Ethan leaned forward, his eyes locked on hers. "I want to get my career back on track," he said. "I've been struggling to find good roles lately, and I think being seen with you could help me get more visibility." Rory nodded thoughtfully. "I think that can be arranged," she said. "Let's shake on it and make it official." As they shook hands, Rory felt a sense of excitement and anticipation. She had a feeling that this fake relationship was going to be a wild ride.
