Hate and Hearts

Chapter 1

"Tell me Camilla, why do we have to pay club fees every term, we don't even do much, this is fraud" Camilla laughed lightly while listening to Audrey's rant. "I don't make the rules missy, and I have to pay club fees too you know"

"Easy for you to say, you have money to splurge and already make enough from your job unlike me". Audrey whined

"Audrey, don't be unreasonable, I work to earn extra keep so I can take some of the expense and burden off my mum" Camilla chided her gently.

The line moved and Mr Philip, the cashier was soon attending to Camilla, he collected her money, counted it amd stamped her receipt. Same went with Audrey. Audrey had been bugging Camilla for a slot at her workplace but she wouldn't budge.

"Oh Cam, I know I might not be the bestest bestie, but won't you help your cutie-pie out". She made a puppy face and fluttered her eyelashes.

"Bestest! "Camilla raised an eyebrow

"Arghh, how did you manage to listen only the part where I said bestest"

"Alright missy" Camilla was already laughing. Audrey's face was a sight for sore eyes "she is cute" Camilla to thought. "After school tomorrow we would go see Mr Richard".

Mr Richard owned the restaurant where Camilla works. A jovial man in his mid 60's who after retiring decided to pursue one of his lifelong dreams of opening a restaurant.

"Why not today Cam"

"So you seek your parent's permission today when you get home"

"Ok, I can't wait to start my new job and I'll be the sassy waitress who calls everyone 'Hun'" she fist bumped lightly into the air.

Camilla stopped walking and turned to look at her friend, 'Hun' and burst out laughing.

"Laugh all you want, any way I heard feezah with the sizzle said there is already a US citizen amongst us, he came in through the foreign exchange program"

Camilla wasn't surprised at all, the principal had been going on and on about the Foreign exchange program last term. "Do you know him" she asked Audrey

"Noppe" she purposefully popped the 'p' "... but I heard he will be coming in tomorrow, trust feezah with the news"

"Lets get to the Cafeteria, Klaus will be ringing the bell anytime from now" Camilla quickened her pace, and so did Audrey

They were having their lunch when Joel came to sit with them, Camilla moved away a little because she knew he was here for Audrey.

Joel has had a crush on Audrey since they were in S.S.S 1. He had practiced hard and made the school's football team, then he went on to become the captain. He was every girls crush but he only had eyes for Audrey who wasn't the least interested in him. Even Camilla had a crush on him, he was well built like a Greek Adonis. His eyeballs were hazel brown a person could drown in them, dark olive skin and a nice tan like he had been under the Miami sun. What more could a teenage girl ask for.

Audrey on the other hand was light skinned, heart shaped face, pink full lips and lite curves. She looked like a princess needing saving and Joel was her knight in shining armor. They were the perfect couple.

They finished their lunch and left for class with Joel and Audrey walking hand in hand while Camilla tagged along behind them. She always felt like a third wheeler and no one ever approached her. She felt she wasn't beautiful enough.

They went into their next class which was chemistry but Joel was an accounting student so he left for his class. Chemistry class was all fine because Mr David their teacher was always flexible with his mode of teaching and he advised them like father he was about their upcoming WAEC and how SSS 3 was just a stepping stone to greater heights but the class ended sooner than it started, it was the first day of resumption and all classes were relatively short. Soon enough, Klaus rang the bell for School closure and the first day of resumption at Bonville high school ended. Audrey bid Camilla goodbye and they head in opposite direction. Camilla kept wondering has she trekked home alone who the FE student was. But life always have other plans. She couldn't wait to get home and relate the happenings of the day to her mother and then Mr Richard.
