In a blink of an eye, Anastacia stumbles, almost falling, causing me to catch hold of her arm as the former king whom she was buried against just a second ago grabs Valerio’s hand before it rips out Athena’s heart. It’s a struggle as Valerio lets out a growl, but his father holds his hand in place, reminding him that this is not the way.
He promises that Athena will get what’s coming to her, but not like this. After what feels like an eternity, he lets out a sob and lets go, retrieving his crimson-coated hand from Athena’s chest while she gasps for breath. Valerio’s eyes are blazing with primal fury as he takes long strides toward the door, no doubt heading to Adonis. But just then, he is suddenly restrained by his father, who tells him to calm himself.
