Hidden truth

Away from her home

Ah. Her head felt so heavy and when her vision gained she saw she was tied to a tree next to a campfire. She tried to figure out the place but she couldn’t. There were three people and one was roasting what seemed to be their dinner. One was checking the dagger and the last one was looking at the fire. Because he was facing her back, she couldn’t see who it was. She tried to lose the rope that tied her to the tree. She tried to loosen her hand but the rope cut her wrist and made it more painful and a small cry came out of her mouth without thinking. That small crying sound made all three people's attention go back to Ruveena.

“Hey princess, did you take a good nap,” said the man who was checking his dagger earlier with an evil smile.

He was a bulky man with a bald head. Sorry, we can’t give you any princess facilities, said the man with a smile, and then he went to the other guys who were roasting and took a slice of meat and pushed it in her direction.

"Hungry? ah, princess."

Ruveena turns her face to the other side. She would die starving rather than eating. Her action made him take off the piece of cloth that covered her mouth. “Just making you comfortable,” said the bulky man with a wicked smile.

“I don’t need your filthy meat; I would rather die than eat with scoundrels like you." She roared. "You know my father will behead you once you all are captured”, Ruveena said with full anger. Except for the one who sits turning her back, everyone starts smiling at her. “Let’s see the princess. Let’s see. Whose head is going to lose? Said the bulky man mockingly.

Ruveena was struggling to lose herself from the rope. Each time she struggles, her hands get a cut. But she didn’t stop. She knew her father had already sent his soldiers to look for her. Thinking of her mother, she felt teary. It was a sleepless night for her. After a while, the bulky man placed a cloth next to the fire and prepared to sleep.

Ruveena's mind was in chaos, she was desperately looking to see any familiarity to figure out where she was. She was pretty much sure she was still in her kingdom, but why couldn't her men find her? Where is she? After half an hour, the man got up from his sitting position and went to the guard and he signed to the guard to sleep. Ruveena felt very thirsty. She wanted to drink some water. But she refuses to ask for it.

Suddenly she got an idea. Thinking about the time passed, she might not be too far, so her father's soldiers must be closed. If she got a chance, she would be free.

With that thought she lowered her voice and, keeping her voice as weak, she called the guard.

Please …… please, can I have some water?

She waited till she got his attention. He looked at her and waited without responding.

Please, I am thirsty. Some water, please.

He took the water pouch and came near to her and put it on her lips. Cold water filled her mouth. When he saw that she is done, he turned back.

Please release my hands. My wrists are paining from the cuts. Please. She pleaded. Thinking this is her final getaway.

His face was covered with his eyes and he directly looked into her eyes and she felt a shiver in her back.

“What’s in your mind”, that’s all he said. She was speechless for a moment.

“Nothing. It’s paining”, Ruveena said.

“Then bear with it.” with that, he turned his back.

Why? What do you want? If you want money, I will give it to you and if you let me go to my father, will he give you more than you asked? I can promise you that.

“There are certain things that money can’t sort.”

“Then what's the hell you want”. I will give you anything in exchange for my freedom.

Without an answer, he left, leaving her with no hope.
