AIDEN'S POV
"Second Uncle," I muttered with gritted teeth. My fists were clenched, and it took my all not to smash something due to my boiling anger.
"Tell them I'll be there," I told the guards who bowed to me–-after trying to calm my raging fury. "Yes, Alpha." The guards replied and left my office.
"Alpha?" Chris looked at me worriedly.
"What is it?" I looked at Chris calmly while trying my best to suppress my fury.
I could see many emotions swirling in Chris's eyes and we both understood the reason behind it.
"Your second Uncle calling a meeting with the elders is quite suspicious, will you be okay?" Chris asked in concern.
Second Uncle's plan was very vivid even though he was trying to be subtle about it.
Second Uncle Jace, my father's younger brother, wanted to take over the pack, but how can I let him do so? I'm the rightful owner of the pack, and I'll always be.
Besides when my father and I were at the battlefield trying to fight off the rogues who were attacking the pack, where was he?
He was having fun abroad all that time. He never came back to help the pack to fight off the enemies but when he heard the news of my father's death, he returned to feign concern.
"I never have a reason not to," I uttered coldly and stood up. If Second Uncle Jace wants it hard, I have to give him one.
The ruthless nickname I earned wasn't for show. _____
I saw the five elders sitting on each of their chairs, coupled with Curie's father, who was the former Beta; they were six in total.
After the death of my father, Chris became my beta while his father retired to join the council elders.
"Alpha." All the six elders stood up to greet me. Even though I have yet to be crowned, it's the law to respect me.
I swept a gaze across the room and I discovered that the person who invited me here was yet to come. Who the hell does he think he is?
A trail of fury rushed across me, but Chris suddenly squeezed my shoulder, which made me look at him.
He smiled at me and mouthed. "Calm down."
I guess he must have noticed my change of emotions which caused him to do what he did.
I nodded my head and sat on the first seat every Alpha should, I was indirectly stating my claim. No one owns this seat and pack except me.
"Aiden, the council of elders." My uncle entered immediately I sat on the Alpha's seat.
I saw a trace of anger flicker past his eyes when he saw me sitting domineeringly on the Alpha's seat.
I smirked at him and slightly raised my chin which angered him more.
I know that my father's brother never put me in the eyes, perhaps he thought I was still that boy who played with him and believed that he was a father figure.
"You seem to make a mistake during your greeting, dear uncle," I said when he was about to sit on the remaining chair.
The expression on his face changed into fury because I mentioned the disrespect in greeting. We both know that he should call me Alpha Aiden even though I was yet to have the throne.
I saw Chris grin slightly, but a look from his father made him wipe the grin off.
"Not only did you disregard the rule which states that only the Alpha of the pack should call for a meeting except for something important. You also invited us for a meeting but even arrived later than the Alpha and when you came in you greeted the Alpha in the wrong way, is that a sign
that you do not have a little iota of respect for the Alpha at all?" I asked while smirking at him.
If he thinks he has an easy target, then he must be playing.
Second uncle's face was flushed in anger which he tried to cover with a smile that ended up tight-lipped.
"Is there a reason to call you an Alpha? You're yet to become the Alpha of the pack." Uncle finally stated which made me arch my brows in surprise.
Uncle is finally declaring an open competition with me which was quite fun and amusing to me.
"Still, I've been crowned as the next Alpha since a young age and all the elders and the pack know me as the alpha, are you trying to disregard the Alpha, the pack, and the elders?" I asked and leaned back with a vivid mischievous smirk on my face. Well, I'm beginning to love this.
Doing this made me forget about the stress of convincing that naive girl. Talking with my uncle had come so fluent than expected. It hadn't appeared like that with my so-called mate.
Uncle's face alternates between dark, red, and green. I have never seen someone change expressions as much in those few seconds.
But there was a need to; I had just trapped uncle Jace, if uncle dares to reply with 'yes' that means he disregarded the elders which would make him end up on their bad side but if he says 'no' it can be counted that he loses to me, and he could only respect me as the Alpha.
I silently laughed at his expression while waiting patiently for his answers.
"The elders should always be respected, how can I disregard their orders? Alpha..." Second Uncle was smiling but the 'Alpha' had come out darkly which I didn't care about. After all, I don't need to care about someone who had just lost to me.
"You're right, second Uncle. Have a seat. We have been waiting for the intent of the meeting." I said again which made him puff up in anger.
It's surprising that he was yet to burst due to anger, but I was enjoying it. I was showing him my authority as an Alpha, and he was just the subject.
Second Uncle sat down, and he clapped his hands together solemnly.
"We'll like to hear from you, second Uncle. We still have a lot of work to do in regard to the rogues." I said while checking my clock.
He took a short glance at me before he began, "I understand that the pack has been busy, but it's time to deal with the most important matter." Second Uncle started, which made Chris's father lean forward on his chair.
"Can you clarify what you meant?" Chris's father asked curiously. The same expression all the elders had on their faces.
"The pack should crown another Alpha, 3 months after any Alpha's demise, but this is over two years and..."
"Stop going around in circles, we perfectly understand that," I growled at him in anger which made him glare at me, but he continued.
"The pack had been going without Alpha for a while now, and we all expected... Well, Alpha Aiden to choose a mate during the ceremony, but he didn't. If Alpha Aiden isn't ready to choose a mate and lead the pack, why didn't another capable person do it?"
