Chapter Five

Zoey’s POV

"Tell your family, we had a CONTRACT!" Alpha Aiden screamed

"And you are breaking it." Clara screamed while smashing another glass cup. Clara's so dramatic, the more glasses she breaks, the more work I have to do. I wouldn't lie, I was so happy when Aiden canceled the engagement party.

Even though I knew Clara and my mistress were going to blame me somehow for it.

"That's why I'm going to pay Clara" He said

"But… but.. I wanted to be Queen… Your Luna" Clara said.

"Alpha Aiden I think there is a way we can still make things work," Ethan said

He left the party, I guess he didn't want to banter words anymore. Immediately he left the room, Clara ran straight to her room with tears rolling down her cheek.

Oh how the mighty falls, I never knew or imagined someone could make Clara act this irrationally.

"Zoey, Zoey! Come clear this table and make sure this room is sparkling clear." My mistress said

I rushed down to do as she said. The whole room was in disarray.

It took me two hours to mop the floor only for Ethan to come into the room and kick the bucket and spill the content.

"Ethan, why did you kick the bucket? I will have to start all over again." I said.

"Zoey, your job here is to work, you are to clean, sweep, mop, and not to question me while doing so." Ethan replied.

Veronica was busy laughing at me. I really wanted to wipe the laugh from her face. Ever since I rejected Ethan, he had made it his life mission to frustrate me and Veronica seems to enjoy the torture I face from him.

"Zoey, why aren't you done cleaning this place?" My mistress screamed. Before the slap landed on my face, I was expecting it because I knew she wouldn't let this go without dishing me slaps.

My mistress slapped me on both cheeks and left in anger.

"Zoey, when you are done cleaning up this place, go do the laundry," Ethan commanded.

I really do hate my life. Yesterday I was told to clean up everywhere. I had to wake before dawn to start the cleaning and I slept late after working for a long time. I woke up early to start the engagement preparations and now it is canceled, I would have to dispose of the dishes and clean up the kitchen too.

On my way to the kitchen, I met Alpha Blake. Immediately I laid eyes on Alpha Blake, I became so afraid I had to stop walking. I knew immediately that something was wrong. Because I have never seen Alpha Blake in the kitchen. Why would he need to go to the kitchen to get anything, when I'm still in this house? I'm everyone's designated slave.

"Zoey, come see me in my office now." Alpha Blake said, he moved out of my way and banged the door hard as he was leaving the kitchen.

In Alpha Blake's Office

I knocked before entering his office. He raised his head and looked at me from my head to my toes.

"Zoey, I saw you when you ran out of the house you know." Alpha Blake said.

"Eehmmm… eehmmm" I was stuttering.

"Where did you go too the most important question is why did Aiden run after you" Alpha Blake said.

Immediately he said those words, fear gripped my heart. Immediately I began sweating, and my hands were shaking. I had to curve my fingers in like I wanted to throw a blow at someone's face. I knew if my mistress comes to find out that Aiden was my mate, I'm in deep s**t. She hates me that much.

My mistress feels that I represent bad luck. I know she loves Clara and she would feel like I took Clara's place deliberately. Ever since my father left me when she got pregnant, my mistress had seen me as the reason for her failure.

"I don't… I don't understand what you mean sir." I said

"You should because I saw him running after you when you were running like your clothes caught fire and you are trying to quench the fire." Alpha Blake said.

"I don't know if he followed me, but I only ran out of the house because I needed fresh air and nothing more sir. I replied.

"I hope you were not the cause of Aiden canceling this engagement party" Alpha Blake raised his at me while asking that question.

"Because if I find out you had anything to do with it, I will make sure I deal with you severely." Alpha Blake said

"I can assure you, sir, I know nothing about what happened at the party today," I said after mustering enough courage to talk.

"I pray you are not lying to me." He said

Alpha Blake released me to go do my work. I was shocked because it was rare for him to be alone with me and not try to touch me in an inappropriate way. He definitely lost a big deal to the fact that the engagement party was canceled.

I left his office and was on my way to the basement but was tripped by Veronica. I rolled down the stairs and hit my head on the wall.

"b***h learn to watch your way before walking through like you own the house," Veronica said, I knew I could beat out the demon in Veronica if we were to fight a fair fight. Veronica irritates me so much with her short clothes that looked like a handkerchief and the fact that Ethan is also in full support of her maltreating me.

I got up from the ground and walked out of that place without uttering a word to Veronica. I got to my room and dropped down on my bed crying my heart out.

I know Alpha Blake is a very intelligent man and in no time he would be able to connect the dots and find out that Aiden is my mate.

Who have I offended?

If anyone finds out I'm Aiden's mate, I'm in deep s**t.
