"Tell me, Declan isn't human, right?"
Julie moved away from Holy's body, but she still sat there staring at her daughter. Holy grabbed her shirt and covered her chest, then leaned against the kitchen cabinet.
"Say it!"
Holy looked at her mother timidly, then nodded slowly. Julie sighed, she suddenly felt suffocated. She clung to the table, tried to stand up.
"How long have you been dating him?"
"Five months."
Julie left, she lay down in her room. Her tears flowing, she remembered the mark. The bite mark was quite large, and it seemed to have healed. That meant Declan had been marking Holy for a while.
If an alpha wants to mark his mate, he has to bite her. Some alphas do it in different places. And it seems Declan marked Holy while they were making love.
Julie pulled out her suitcase, looking for her passport. She couldn't stay in Canada any longer. They had to leave. She wasn't willing to give up her daughter to the werewolf. When she was done, she went to Holy's room.
"Mom." Holy was surprised to see her mother.
She watched her mother who was opening the closet, taking out suitcases and clothes. "Mom, what's wrong?"
"We have to go."
Holy shook her head in fear. "I don't want to."
But Julie didn't listen to Holy, she continued to put Holy's clothes into the suitcase.
"Mom, stop, please." Holy started crying as she saw her mother start to ruffle her study table.
"Where is it?" Julie sighed. "Where do you keep your passport?"
Holy's eyes widened. She hadn't expected Julie to take her abroad. She wouldn't be able to stay away from Declan. She quickly got out of bed. She tugged at her mother's hand, which was about to pull out of the drawer.
"Please, I love him, Mom. Don't you want me to be happy?" She gave Julie a pleading look.
"You won't turn into a wolf just because you married him. While the child is still unborn, we have to go."
Holy looked down at her stomach, she still couldn't believe that she was pregnant. "Declan will take care of me, mom doesn't have to worry, his family likes me even though I'm not a wolf."
Julie leaned closer, she rubbed Holy's face. "You don't understand, their world is more cruel than you can imagine."
"I'm not leaving." Holy went back to bed, she sat staring out the window hoping Declan would come to get her.
"Holy." Julie's eyes began to water. "Don't force mom into violence."
"I'd better get out of here." Holy exclaimed loudly. "Mom always controlled me, never listened to what I wanted, forbade me to go to parties, couldn't dress too short. I felt jealous of my friends, you didn't even give me permission to go on a summer vacation to Hawaii. I'm an adult now, I'm free to do whatever I want."
Julie went back to her room, she had to think of a way to take Holy away. But how?
Her head felt heavy.
Julie finally called Dean. At night, they tied Holy's hands.
"I'm sorry."
Holy woke up and was surprised by the two ropes binding her hands. She couldn't make a sound either. They put duct tape over Holy's mouth. She kept screaming, but her voice was stifled. The sunlight had appeared.
Dean helped Julie put the suitcases into the trunk. "Where are you guys going?"
"We have to go pretty far. If we're still in Canada, I'm sure they can still find us."
Dean nodded, now it was their job to get Holy into the car. Dean untied the rope, then tied Holy's hands together. Holy continued to cry, looking at her mother. But Julie tried to stay strong, she was doing that for them.
When they opened the door, they found a police officer standing there. Dean and Julie looked shocked, while Holy tried to speak.
"Sorry, what's going on?"
"She's my daughter. What's wrong?"
"We got a report about someone yelling from your house." The man looked at them, he was a little cautious to speak. "I don't think you need to be this violent."
"Officer, she's my daughter. I have the right to do whatever I want."
The police didn't seem to want to move, he wanted to thwart Julie's plans. His hand was next to the gun, ready to fire if Julie attacked him.
"Can you move aside?"
"Let her go first," the police said. "You could be arrested for this kind of violence."
"You can't punish me just because I tied my daughter's hands."
"Take off the tape, I want to hear it directly from your daughter."
Julie turned to Holy, looking doubtful. She uncovered Holy's mouth, and she moved aside, so that the black cop could talk to Holy.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm, I'm fine." Holy looked scared.
Dean had whispered that if Holy asked the police for help, he would stab Holy in the stomach, so the baby wouldn't survive. Dean kept the knife he used to cut the rope.
"Are you sure?"
Holy couldn't help himself. She nodded quickly. Julie, who had been feeling her heart beating fast, finally felt a little relieved.
"Can we go?" asked Julie.
The police finally let them pass. Dean would drive while Julie would keep Holy in the back. The car sped off, Julie didn't even care that her door was open.
Holy suddenly looked back. She saw Declan running after the car. Her tears flowed even harder.
When Dean glanced at the rearview mirror, he saw Declan behind them, quite close.
"Julie, you have to look behind you."
Julie turned her head and was surprised to see him running so fast. They were already on a busy highway. Although several cars honked, Declan was able to dodge smoothly.
"Dean, don't let him overtake this car."
"Okay." Dean smiled, the corner of his lips rising and then stepping on the pedal deeper.
"Mom." Holy was still trying to persuade his mother.
Declan caught up, running right beside their car. "Stop the car."
Julie looked angry, especially when Holy called the man's name. As Julie watched him, she was reminded of the past. No, it wasn't time to think about that.
"Dean, stop him, do whatever it takes."
Holy's eyes widened, she shook her head and pushed her shoulder against Julie's. "Mom, don't hurt him."
Dean turned the wheel to the left, the car shifted to the side, putting some distance between the car and Declan. After a few seconds, waiting for the right moment, Dean turned the wheel to the right quickly.
"No!" Holy yelled as the side of the car slammed into Declan's body. But the man was strong enough to keep running.
Dean smiled, Holy gave Declan a worried look, Julie didn't care. As Declan continued to watch Holy, a car accelerated in front of him.
"Watch out!" Holy stared in horror as the car slammed into Declan.
"I hope he's dead," Julie said.
