Chapter 4

Julie took Holy's hand quite firmly, pulling her towards the departure lobby. An employee checked their passports. "You must be sad to leave Canada?" the woman said. Julie just smiled a little. At this moment, Julie seemed wary, she kept her eyes on her surroundings. She didn't want anyone to derail their flight. Julie also asked Dean to stand guard at the airport in case Holy managed to escape. But Holy couldn't do anything, it was useless to come back if Declan was dead. "I have one request." Julie stopped walking, but didn't want to let go of her grip. "What is it?" "I want to give birth to this baby." Holy looked up at her mother. Her mouth quivered, thinking that her baby would never meet Declan. "Actually, I won't do this." Julie looked regretful, she released her grip. "I can't explain now, I know you'll find this hard to accept, but you have to trust me. This is the best decision for you, for us." Holy looked at her mother, she realized that Julie seemed to be familiar with werewolves. Again, she had to obey her mother's wishes, which always ended up with the thought that she was always right. "I'll go." Julie looked happy, she put her arm around Holy and they walked together. The air in Switzerland was quite cool, Julie had some savings. They lived in the countryside, where Julie and Holy sold bread and hot chocolate. After a few months, Holy's belly began to grow. She only occasionally helped her mother, she spent her time walking around, going to the market or just buying flowers to decorate their shop. "You bought more flowers?" Holy just smiled as she arranged the flowers and put them in a vase. Julie came with warm bread and tea. "Mom," Holy complained again, she had trouble eating bread during her pregnancy. It was like she was sick of seeing bread on display every day. "You're not hungry? You've walked far enough." "I used to do that." "But now you're pregnant, there's a baby in your belly, you need to give it plenty of nutrients." Holy rubbed her stomach. She never knew that her baby would be this calm. Holy seemed to have no desire to eat anything or do anything. The baby seemed calm, she didn't know if that was normal or not. "At least drink the tea." Holy nodded and began to sip the warm ginger tea, her body warming up again. Julie quickly stood up when a customer came over. "I hope you're still alive." Holy rubbed her stomach, the baby never responded like kicking her stomach. But she never said that to Julie. Holy was enjoying the winter, it was quite cold in December. Holy was wearing a sweater and floral dress, with a coat that kept her warm. Lights seemed to be set up around the houses. Holy looked at the church, unsure of what to ask on Christmas Eve. "Do you believe in God?" A man in a leather jacket stood next to her, also looking at the church. "I don't know, I've never..." Holy felt sad, she didn't want anything, she just wanted Declan back. "You never asked for anything?" asked the man who looked to be in his late thirties. But his body still looked fit, tall and not fat. His hair was long. Holy smiled awkwardly. "No. I never thought of dreams or wishes." "You should ask for something, at least for your baby." The man felt something when he was near the woman. Holy rubbed her stomach. "Right, I want this child to be born safely." She continued to stare at her stomach. But when she turned her head she didn't see the man anymore. When she woke up from sleep, Holy felt a pain in her stomach. She tried to get down, but something seeped out of her skirt. Holy screamed, she was terrified. Julie arrived in a hurry. "We have to go to the hospital." Julie held Holy. "Your water has broken." "Mom." Holy's forehead was sweating, "I'm scared." "It's okay, you have to be strong." Julie helped Holy sit on the bed, then took Holy's cell phone and called an ambulance. Holy felt her stomach begin to churn, sweat pouring down her cheeks. She didn't know what to do. "We have to go down, we can't wait here. Are you ready?" Holy nodded, then tried to stand up with Julie's help. They descended the stairs slowly. "Breathe slowly, it's okay, we'll be there in a minute." They were halfway down when someone knocked on the door. "Come in." A medic opened the door and saw Holy, who was heavily pregnant. He immediately helped Julie. They went straight to the hospital. "Hold on." Holy was taken to a room. The doctor immediately came to treat her. Her heartbeat quickened, as Julie held her hand. If Declan had been there, he would have done it. "We need to wait until the next opening, if your daughter wants to have a normal delivery. But we'll continue to monitor the patient's progress to see if we need to take immediate action or not." "What do you think, sweetheart?" asked Julie. "I don't want surgery, I'm scared." The doctor left after getting an answer. Julie rubbed Holy's forehead to calm her daughter down. But a few minutes later, the doctor did not come. Julie became agitated as Holy continued to feel the pain. "Mom," she called when she saw Julie open the door. "I'm going to call the doctor." But as she walked out she saw that the doctor was having a discussion with someone. She walked slowly, somewhat hesitantly. "I'm not sure whether it's a wolf cub. The baby in her belly showed no reaction at all." "Veer has checked, and asked Gou. He said there would be a woman giving birth here." Julie's eyes widened, she walked back slowly. "You're sure that's the woman you're referring to." "Hold her at the hospital to make sure no woman gives birth here." Julie walked into the room, looking panicked. She walked over to Holy, who seemed to have her eyes closed. "Holy, wake up. We have to go." Holy looked left and right. "Where's the doctor, Mom?" Julie couldn't make Holy panic, her daughter would scream if she knew someone was targeting her. "We need to move to another room." Julie helps Holy sit in the wheelchair. She looked outside, there was no nurse in the hallway. Julie pushed the wheelchair in a hurry. A cloth she placed over Holy's stomach. "Mom." Holy was confused as they left the hospital. Julie hailed a taxi. She had no choice. She would help Holy give birth at home. But as soon as the cab turned the corner, Julie asked the driver to stop. Two men had just come out of their house. "Mom, I can't take it anymore." "Sir, can you turn around?" asked Julie. Julie didn't know where they should go. Then she saw a church. She asked the driver to stop. She helped Holy walk inside. "Mom." Julie took Holy into the confessional. She took off her sweater, then asked Holy to bite it. Her legs were spread wide apart. "Come on, push." Holy screamed, then exhaled repeatedly. Julie checked the baby, yet to emerge. "Again." Holy did it again with more pressure. Then Julie asked Holy to be quiet. Her mother turned her head to the side. Someone had opened the door.
