Ariana
I'm a human in a world of monsters. Werewolves, vampires, and witches are real for me! I was adopted by an Alpha and Luna in a werewolf pack when I was a baby. They are the only family I have ever know! Being human made me different though. I knew I was never going to have a wolf like my 2 older brothers but I was never treated differently by the pack. I was simply the girl my parents wanted when they had 2 boys but couldn't have any more children. My name is Ariana. I'm 27 now. My brothers are Alex and Aiden. Both 31. Identical twins. Well identical to everyone but me! Alex is mated with a pup on the way. He's set to take over for dad when he turns 35. Aiden says he never wants to be mated but we'll see! We're having another gathering at the end of the week where all the unmated pack members get together and party the night away! We hold one every years and invite packs far and wide! I've been to every one since I turned 18 but I've never held much hope for finding my perfect match. I heard mom and dad talking last week about how they'd find me a suitable mate if I didn't find one on my own this year. I don't plan on being here that long though. I'll make my appearance at the gathering then I'll leave. Despite being treated like a high ranking pack member, I know I'm not. I'm just... human.
The other thing you should know about me is I'm not a regular human. I have always known things. I would know things were going to happen before they every happened. I knew when Alex was going to meet Christine. I know Aiden is meeting his mate this weekend. I dreamed about it! She's going to take his breath away! I'm not a witch. At least I don't think I am. Mom and dad say that I smell human! They don't know why I see things!
Monday morning found my mom knocking on my bedroom door.
"Ari! Time to wake up love!" I groaned before sitting up. "Good morning!"
"Good morning mom."
"Did you sleep okay?" One look at my face and she knew I didn't. She sat on my bed. "Nightmares?"
"Nightmare. Singular mom. The same one since my birthday." 3 months ago I started having a recurring nightmare. Being chased through a cemetary to the woods and just when I start to think I'm safe, a stony claw grabs me around the throat. I'm going to die soon. I just know it.
"I'm sorry sweetheart. Come. You'll feel better after you eat. We have to pick up your dress today!" I smile and nod. My parents think that all problems can be fixed with food. After she kisses my head and leaves, I get up and get ready for the day. I come downstairs in shorts and a black tank top. My socks and sneakers are in my left hand, phone in my right hand. I'm scrolling through emails while I put my shoes by the door and make my way to the dining room. A lot of the older pack members eat breakfast with us. Big feats with the whole pack are saved for events or full moons. I take my seat and an omega rushes over with a plate for me loaded with all my favorites. Crispy bacon, 2 hard boiled eggs, wheat toast, and some fruit. I laugh when my dad reaches over to steal a slice of bacon. A cup of coffee is placed in front of me and I know it's made just the way I like it. I smile up at the girl who brought it to me.
"Thank you Sierra."
"You're welcome." She says quietly before rushing off back to the kitchen.
"You scare them you know." Aiden said pullingn out his chair beside me.
"Why?"
"You know their names before they give it. And you acknowledge them at all! No Alpha family usually does."
"Well I'm human. The least I can do is be nice to every pack member. They're all nice to me!"
"They have to be."
"No they don't!"
"You're the Alpha's daugher. Yes they do."
"Aiden." Dad growled from his seat. His growly voice has always been comforting for me. His 'Alpja voice' doesn't work on me and he's never actually gotten mad at me. I know the power my dad has. Even just a single spoken word in the right tone can make anyone do anything he says. He's easily the most powerful Alpha in a long time. Alex is supposed to be stronger that him when he takes over!
"It's true dad! They don't have to..." Dad's growl is low. I see his lip curl up and a fang stick out. He doesn't like anyone treating me different.
"It's okay daddy. Aiden's brain to mouth filter hasn't woken up yet. Besides he can't hurt me! I know too much!" I rest my head on my brother's shoulder and smile at dad who smiles back. I'll always be daddy's princess! And my brothers mean well but it's hard to point out the obvious differences. Everyone in my family has jet black hair and light colored eyes that almost glow. I'm blonde wuth dark green eyes. They're tall. I'm short.
"So moonbeam, any plans for today?" I smile at my dad's favorite nickname for me.
"I'm picking up my dress today for Friday! I think you're going to love this dress. I kept it very... traditional this year."
"Do I want to know what that means?" Mom patted his arm.
"She's going to be a real princess this year." She smiled. Just then Alex came in and sat across from Aiden. Christine sat across from me. Alex was giving me a weird look.
"Twin telepathy only works with twins and mind-linking only works with wolves. I'm neither so you just look constipated." He let out a sigh nd banged his head ion the table. "What do you want to know?" I asked exasperated.
"You know what my pup is." Not a question. He's never doubted my weird ability.
"And I'm still not telling you! You'll find out when your monster is born. It's not my fault they'll be difficult in ultrasounds until the last minute!"
"So we're not finding out before?" Christine asked. She swears I'm a witch!
"Unfortunately not!"
"Can you give us any hints?" She begged. "We just want to get their room ready for them!" I smiled at her before looking down at my coffee. I felt myself drift off into a daydream but I as fully aware of everyone watching me.
"Decorate the room like the woods. With dark wood furniture." I smile at Christine. "Anything else and peanut will refuse to sleep!" She smacked Alex lightly on the arm.
"You heard her!" Everyone laughed and we all turned back to our food.
When mom and I finished shopping for my 'final touches' we headed home. I was exhausted! Shopping with my mom was like that though! But I was happy! We were just passing the cmemtary just outside pack lands as the sun was setting when a terrible feeling washed over me.
"Mom! Faster!" I reached for my phone to call dad but it was too late. Something big hit the side of the car. Mom screamed and snarled as my head hit the window. Was that the window or my head cracking? I lost count of how many times the car flipped before it stopped on it's hood. I hurt! My ears were ringing and I knew my head was bleeding. I opened my eyes and looked to the driver's side but my mom wasn't there. Her door was open. The ringing subsided just enough for me to make out the sounds of a fight. It was behind the car so I couldn't see what was happening. I needed to get myself out of this car! I needed to call my dad! I got my seatbelt undone and crashed to the floor. I cried out in pain. My left wrist was broken, I found my phone and hit dad's name. He answered right away.
"Moonbeam?"
"Daddy! Help. Cemetary." I coughed. I could feel myself passing out but I needed to get him the important information first.
"We're coming." I heard more growling and knew he, my brothers, Beta Mark, and Gamma Shaun were coming. I hit the ground on my knees outside the care just as I heard a yelp. I looked behind the car to see mom's black wolf get pinned under a dirty brown wolf.
"Mom!" I silently cried. That's when I noticed the second wolf. This one a matted grey. It was looking at me! I stood up just as it started walking towards me. I coulndn't help my mom but I could run from this wolf! Shaking off the feeling of passing out, I turned and ran for the cemtary. Straight for the gargoyle statue that guards my great grandparent's resting place and climbed up on his back. The olf was hot onmy heels and now jumping and snapping at my face. "Help me!" I cried out to whoever was listening. To my surprise, my plea was answered when the gargoyle came to life under me and caught the rogue wolf by the neck in it's claws. And crushed it. I watched as the gargoyle, who's back I was still on, dropped the now dead wold onto the ground then slowly turned his head enough to see me. I looked into that angry black eye before finally passing out.
