Pete's POV
It was a long night, the night we put the old Alpha to rest. I had stayed near Max all evening. I knew well that under no circumstances would he let me know if anything was wrong. But I was there anyway, he should know I was there for him!
After the run, where all members ran into the woods to pay tribute to both the old and the new Alpha as well as the moon and its goddess, I sat on the stairs and waited. Around the park, everything was packed down and cleaned up. Everyone returned home and went to bed. But Max had still not returned.
My mother sat on the stairs next to me.
"He's coming home!" I nodded and looked over towards the forest. I knew it, but I was worried about my friend, my brother.
"He's not happy!" I whispered and my mother nodded.
