I followed Sophia through the forest. The wind moved through the trees. My boots sank into the wet ground with each step. I felt a heavy weight of not knowing. She walked ahead, moving with a sure step that bothered me. She knew exactly where she was going. I, who was supposed to know this past, was lost in the dark. "How much farther?" I asked. My voice sounded rough. Sophia looked back. "Almost there." I didn't trust her. Not fully. But the quick flashes of memory and the pain in my head told me I had to keep going. After a few minutes, the trees cleared. I saw a small cabin. It was old and worn. The roof sagged a little, and vines climbed up its sides. It was as if nature was taking it back. A feeling twisted in my chest. A pull. I knew this place. I didn't know how, but I did.
