As soon as I made it to the tree line, I started to take off my dress and shift into my wolf. It still hurt but it didn't hurt as much as the first time did, and my first time felt like I was dying because it was at such an early age. As soon as I shifted, I started to run I knew where I was going, I headed straight for the lake, I always loved looking out on the water and listening to nature sing to me. It was always my safe place somewhere I could run and hide when life got to be a little too much for me. As I made it to the lake, I galped down some water and laid down on my front paws watching the moon shine on the water. I must have fallen asleep because I was woken up by a twig snapping and hushed whispering, I looked down and saw that I had already shifted back and I knew I needed to get home. As I stood up to take a look around, I smelt the sweetest sent, it smelt like fresh cut grass after a rainstorm. I started walking towards the smell, and as I got closer, I saw the blonde hair I know all too well, Daisy she was crying and talking to someone leaning against the tree.
"Why? Why are you doing this to me now?" she yelled
"Because we now know that we aren't mates and we need to find our mates. Tomorrow is the moon ball, and we have a chance to find them." He replied and I knew that voice all too well it was Jason the alpha's son. He must have returned early because as far as I knew he wasn't supposed to be back until tomorrow.
"No, we are supposed to be together we are supposed to choose each other as chosen mates and be together I love you and I know that you love me to you promised me" Daisy replied. She latched on to him like her life depended on it.
I couldn't see Jasons face but you could tell by the sound of his voice that he was getting frustrated with the situation " Yes, I did love you at one point and everyone thought we would be mated because I am the soon to be alpha and you are of beta blood but we aren't and after training I have realized that having your mate makes you stronger and everyone talks about how great it is to find your other half and I want to try and find her to see if what everyone is saying is true we owe it to ourselves and to our mates to see what happens." he replied ripping her hands off of him. but little did he know that she wasn't beta blood at all her mother came from gamma blood and her father came from omega blood and in the pack, omega is the lowest of the low even though here we treat them as equals, other packs not so much.
"No, you are not leaving me I will not allow you to" she screamed at him getting closer to his face.
He stepped closer to her with his canines showing. "Allow me? what gives you the power to allow me to do anything. I am the soon to be alpha and I give the orders around here not you. I will find my goddess given mate and have her for the rest of my life and I suggest you do the same because from here on out we are done. I don't want you and you will not tell me what I can or cannot do are we understood." and with that he turned and walked away leaving her bawling her eyes out. I went to turn away and walk back home but as soon as he walked from behind the tree and the moon shined on his face my world stopped, and my wolf screamed "mate" in my head. "NO, NO, NO this can't be happing" I thought to myself and as soon as he turned his head in my direction I ran as fast as I could back home. The word no was on repeat in my head this couldn't be happing my stepsister ex-boyfriend is my mate and not only that he is the soon to be alpha of this pack no I needed to reject him the one thing I promised not to do and run as far away from here as I could get. I got home and ran straight to the attic and started to pack as much as I could fit in the small bag that I have. As soon as I was done packing, I took one last look at the small attic that I called home. I grabbed the last picture that I have of my mother and me and stuffed it into the bag and headed out of the room. I stopped on the stairs and listened to the noises around me to make sure no one was around. Once I knew the coast was clear I quietly but quickly ran to the door and swung it open. I made it to the tree line and started walking slowly to the boarded I needed to make sure patrol didn't see me or they would have me right back where I was running from. I finally made it to the lake it was halfway to the boarded and I knew I was halfway to my freedom. I stopped and looked over the lake, my mother would always bring me here every Saturday and we would camp for the night and swim all day. Taking one last breath, I turned and started back on my track. As I made it to the boarder I hid behind a large tree so I could listen for the patrols, but I didn't hear anything. "good-bye mom I miss you and will always love you but I know that you wouldn't want this life for me so I must leave but I will take our memories with me and make you proud. And I promise I will protect Harley and myself" I whispered. taking one more deep breath I stepped out from behind the tree and ran right in to a harden chest. I started looking up seeing his chiseled jaw that held his five o'clock shadow then his cute but manly nose. then my eyes landed on the most beautiful green eyes I have ever seen. and that is when the smell of fresh cut grass after a rainstorm hits my nose.
