Chapter Four (A step closer)

Dave POV

"Lady Anne is not around, she traveled after the family meeting yesterday. it was an emergency" my supervisor said.

"An emergency? what's wrong? Hope no problem?" I asked

"I don't know about that, I was there when she told the general manager to tell you that her room is opened that you should continue working in her room" She explained

"She did? when is she coming back?" I asked

"I don't know about that... Do have a nice time ahead" She said and went to her office.

My boss at the supermarket wasn't around now it's Lady Anne.

At least am saved from Lady Anne Drama for today.

I felt so empty like something is missing within me. It's the first time am having a free day although.

I went to the main building to resume at Lady Anne for cleaning.

I opened the door and saw a Letter on the table with my name on top of it. I opened the letter to read.

"Hi baby boy, How are you doing? I traveled for an official meeting. I will soon be back. you can have the room all to yourself. I will soon be back"

I read the letter and fall on the luxury big bed. The air conditioner? it's impossible for anyone not to fall asleep.

my phone rang

I stood up immediately I heard my phone ring. I can't believe I slept for 2hrs in my boss bedroom. The phone stopped ringing before I could pick it.

my phone rang again. it's Kevin

"Hi Kevin" I greeted

"What took you so long to pick my call!" Kevin shouted

"Am so sorry, I slept off" I tried to calm him down

"You slept? you must be out of your mind" Kevin said in anger

"Bro calm down" I said

"Am at the mansion gate" Kevin said and hang up.

I quickly went out with my cleaning bowl, changed, signed out then moved out of the mansion.

"What's up bro" I said to Kevin when I saw him outside the mansion.

"Smile now, I said am sorry" I said in my lowest voice.

"So you slept after f*cking your boss and you kept me waiting here?" Kevin broke his silence.

"Bro calm down, don't get me wrong, firstly am sorry for keeping you waiting. am sorry" I apologize to force a smile from his face.

He smiled

"f*****g?" I laughed"

"Why are you laughing? So you finally gave her what she wants from you" Kevin said

"Who is giving who what?" I said while laughing

"You better speak in a language I will understand" Kevin said

"I didn't do anything! She traveled! Lady Anne is not around" I replied

I couldn't stop laughing because he got Everything wrong.

"she traveled? When?" Kevin asked surprisingly

I finally got a breathing space and stopped laughing

"Yes, I didn't see her when I resumed. I was told she left after the family meeting yesterday. But she dropped a letter for me" I replied and gave Kevin the letter.

Kevin collected the letter and read

"Kevin, what if this lady really loves you?" Kevin said

I was so surprised to hear such nonsense coming out of Kevin mouth

"Love? What do you mean? we both know that such thing doesn't exist between the rich and the poor" I said looking straight to his face

"But I can read beyond letter here" Kevin said

"I don't know when you become Arinurode, The one that sees everything" I said and collected the letter.

"That aside, I can see that you are serious about this music institute. How do we go about it?" I asked changing the topic.

"Yes, that's where we are heading right now" Kevin replied

"Do you know how much it's going to cost to reach the island? I asked

"Yes, Don't worry I will pay our transport fee" Kevin replied

"You will pay? what about the form? and even if we are able to get the form, what about the admission process? Do you even know how much it's cost to pay the fees? What about our daily transportation fee? Accommodation is important" I asked without giving him a chance to answer one.

"Dave, what's all this question! If we get admitted, Thank your maker! and for the accommodation, we will move closer to the island if we can't afford the houses at the island" Kevin shouted at me.

It's seems he had all this planned before now and I would be looking for his trouble if I more questions.

I followed him gently and played along.

It took us an hour before we got to the island and 10 minutes drive to the Institute.

We dropped at the gate and I was amazed by the beautiful view. we stood just to admire the building for more than a minute.

We walked it through the gate

The building was not the only beautiful thing that I saw but I saw people around the building. They are definitely not angels but children from wealthy homes.

"Dave Dave" Kevin tapped me. "I know what's you are thinking but don't be intimidated by anyone" Kevin said.

"Don't mind me, how do we know the direction?" I asked

" it's simple, we will ask around" Kevin answered with so much confidence

A Pathfinder Jeep drove towards us, we stood to see what's going on. The glass of the vehicle was tinted so we couldn't see anyone from the car.

"What's going on?" I asked Kevin

"We were here together so how will I know?" Kevin replied

Suddenly the glass was whined down and we saw a young man sitting at the owner sit.

"Hello guys, Are you here for the cleaning service?" He asked

"No, we are awaiting students. we are here for the entry form" Kevin replied rudely looking offended.

"Oh am sorry about that, go to the next building.. Tell anyone you are looking for the admin officer. Forgive me if I offended you" The young man said.

"No, you don't have to apologize sir. we are fine" I replied with a smile.

"What's your name?" he asked

"Am Dave and he is Kevin" I introduce myself and pointed to Kevin.

Kevin doesn't look like someone that want to have a conversation

"Ok, I hope to see you next time" He said and the driver drove him out of the building.

"All this young rich guys and their stupid behaviour! Do we look like cleaner?" Kevin said in anger.

"Bro calm down, I don't think he ment any harm. you don't need to get anger at him" I tried to calm Kevin down.

"Look don't be intimidated by anyone here, they might be rich but I doubt if anyone of them have life experience that we had" Kevin said boldly.

"Let's go and see the admin officer" I held Kevin hand and we went to the building the man pointed too.

We saw a student coming out of the building and we asked "Hello, Good afternoon.. Please can you direct us to the admin officer office?" I ask politely and he pointed to the door right before us.

I knocked and After we heard come in we enter the office.

"Hello sir, Please we are here to make enquiries about the admission and we are here for the form" Kevin said to the handsome Man sitting in front of us.

"You can have your sit" The man said and offered us to sit.

"The form is 5000 dollars" The man said

"5000 Dollars? I shouted

Kevin held my hands and calm me down.

"Don't mind my brother, You can go ahead with the details" Kevin saud

"The form is 5000 dollars and it's closes in two weeks. The online exam is next month. Our tution fees is 50000 Dollars. That's a section fees and you are to pay at once" The Man explained

"See I told you, this is a dream that will never come reality" I said in a voice that only I and Kevin could hear.

"Sir, so there is no installamental plans? Kevin asked

"Yes for regular students but you can be non regular student. The non regular have the privilege to pay installamentally" The man answered

"Do you have any scholarship program?" Kevin asked

"Yes, we do" The form is 1000 dollars and the form closes today. And it's remain just a form left and for the scholarship program you must pass 95% in the entrance exam." The man explained.

"Can I have the form sir" Kevin asked

I wasn't surprised when he said "I", his passion to run after his dream was more than mine.

Kevin took the form and place the form right in my front with a pen

"Dave, hurry and fill this form" Said Kevin

I couldn't believe my eye and ears.

"No Kevin, this was your Idea from the set. I can't take this from you" I said feeling bad

"Dave we can discuss this later, just fill this form now" Kevin replied..

I stared at Kevin and saw more than a friend. I saw a father, I saw a older brother and I saw an angel.

I took the form and fill while brought out money from his bag. I gave Kevin the form to sign as my next of kin after I filled the necessary details.

Kevin gave the form and the money to the man.

"We will send all necessary information to the number you wrote on the form. you can take your leave." The exam officer said

I held Kevin hand and we went outside.

"Kevin why will you do that? I need an explanation. 1000 dollars? where did you get that from? Am not this selfish bro. you also want to study music, you should have filled the form and not me" I said immediately we left the man office.

"Dave, we both know that you are the star here and am not in for any competition, not because I can't develop myself but because I want to see you shine! You have suffered enough and you deserve everything good life has to offer" Kevin said, sounding like my father.

"Beside there is next year for me, it's not like am giving up on my dreams. You better study well and don't waste my 1000 Dollars " Kevin added and smiled

"Yes sir!" I replied sharply

"You are not serious" Kevin said and hit me

I saw a shop around with snacks displayed on the table. I held Kevin hand and ran towards the shop. I knew things here will be expensive but I don't care! I just wanted to give Kevin something nice.

"Hello ma, How much is the meat pie?" I asked the lady in a chef uniform standing behind the snacks.

"50 dollar per one" she replied

"50 dollar??" Kevin shouted.

"What's wrong? why are you suddenly surprise by the price here? you aren't surprised when you heard 1000dollars, 5000 dollars and even 50000 dollars why just 50 Dollars??" I asked looking funny

"Come on Dave, this is different! we buy meat pie at the rate of 10 dollars at home why 50 Dollars here? Dave we are buying one!" Kevin shouted and didn't care who heard him.

"Ma, can I have the two?" I said and collected the meat pie giving the lady Three thousand Naira

"You know we will regret buying this after we finish eating it" Kevin said and collected the meat pie.

"Kevin let's enjoy this with happiness and stop complaining" I said and smiled at him

My phone rang

"Who is calling you?" Kevin asked

"It's from the Andrew's Mansion, The general manager" I replied Kevin and answered the call

"Good afternoon ma, But ma, I thought you said she traveled, ah is she back????
