“Here’s to the success of a new playground for Summer Beach.” Ivy clasped Piper’s hand and raised it high in victory before the crowd that had assembled early on the cracked pavement of the airfield.
She looked out over the small gathering. Bennett had a client meeting this morning, but Shelly and Mitch were there with Daisy, who was sleeping soundly, along with Imani and Chief Clarkson, Nan and Arthur, and Gilda and Pixie. Other residents had gathered as well, eager to meet Piper and hear more about the new community park.
“Thank you all for coming out this morning,” Piper said. “I’m so happy to bring this project to you.” Her dark curls blew around her face, and her deep blue eyes were filled with joy. “This is really your project. I’m just here to see it through.”
