Saving Akira (Complete)

Chapter 20

    Daelin was there to greet them so he could join them in their room so he could get the low down on what was going so his Pride could make the changes needed to protect Akira and everyone else in the Leap and Pride. “Welcome Akira I am glad to see you are feeling better and it looks like your soon to be Mate is already protective of you.” He chuckled as he watched Jon growl and hiss as others came close. Daelin shook his head indicating the others should stay back until Jon could get a grip on himself.

    The so-called room that Jon had was more like a one-bedroom apartment it was so big. Though Akira was accustomed to being in small no tell motels, so anything looked huge to her even that cramped hospital room she was inn. “This room is way to big for us. There are only the two of us Jon. Surely a family could use this room.” Her mismatched eyes scanned the room basically checking out any sort of escape route should one be needed.

    “Akira, I swear to you that any family has more than enough space. Their houses are much bigger than this room.” Both Jon and Daelin gave her an indulgent look knowing how her life has been. Jon carefully laid her on the bed then propped her up with a bunch of pillows. Even though she did not mutter a sound in pain they could both see it in her beautiful eyes.

    “Are you comfortable cara? If you are, we can fill Daelin on what we know. But first I want you to explain to Daelin what you are. I think this is very important to help him to understand why you are being hunted.” As he sat on the bed next to her Jon gently brushed a few stray strands of hair out of her face.

    “Alpha Cross it is a pleasure to meet you.” Akira canted her head to the side showing respect and deference to his rank. “Akira just call me Daelin. I only stand on ceremony when we have other guests visiting the Pride. And besides you will be Jon’s Prima soon enough. That means I get to be your honorary brother since we see each other as brothers. I have always wanted a sister.” The smile that graced his lips was one of happiness and excitement that made his eyes sparkle.

    “Alright Alp…ermm Daelin.” She looked up to Jon who nodded for to continue. “Daelin,” Akira shifted her gaze to him so she could continue. “I am a rather unique panther. Once I shift, I will be both Alpha and Omega. I know that in the wolf packs they see Omega as being the bottom of the totem pole. I also know that in the feline Prides and Leaps an Omega is very rare. I will be able to tell how the Leap is doing and how they are feeling emotionally. With this said I will still be Jon’s Prima, but I will be the strongest Prima in the feline world. My panther will be predominately white with some bits of black. I know all of this because I inherited this ability from my mother. Goddess rest her soul.” A look of sadness came over her features as she looked up and said a silent thank you to her mother and the Goddess. “My parents and my guardian Mike died protecting me. I have been hunted relentlessly since I was just a child. These Hunters even hunted my mother when she was a child. My dad, Goddess rest his soul, protected her to the point that he did not take over his Leap or any others. They remained in a small Pride in Colorado. This same Hunter is the one who killed my parents and Mike.” Akira paused for a moment waiting to see if there were any questions, she could answer for Daelin or Jon.

   The look on Daelin’s face was one of awe and surprise. “Akira, you are indeed a true treasure and a great asset to both your new Leap and my Pride. I am grateful that the Moon Goddess has brought to all of us. I know telling me all of this is not easy, but I do have a question. What happened to your Alpha and Prima?”

    “For the longest of time I blamed them for the deaths of my parents and Mike. I thought they did not do what needed to be done to protect them and that they did not care. But while I was in the land of dreams I was informed differently by my parents, Mike, and Selene who is our Moon Goddess. They are both alive as far as I know and still running the Leap in Colorado. I will be contacting them soon so I can apologize for my actions towards them. As for the Hunter he is still out there looking for me. They want to know what makes us so unique that we are given an animal that we live as one with. They want me particularly because they want to use my gift to control other shifters. I also suspect they want to do some sort of testing to try to isolate the gene that gives us the ability to shift to our counterparts. But this is just speculation on my part. However, mark my words I will put a stop to them in due time.” Her mismatched eyes brightened as she growled those last few words. It became obvious that her panther was letting us know of her support of Akira. Goddess help them if they ever get their hands on those Hunters.

    A bit of a chill came through the room when Akira’s panther receded back inside of her. She had no doubt it was the Moon Goddess trying to sooth her panther since it was not quite time for Akira to shift. If she shifted now she could hurt herself and perhaps others. When the time comes for her to shift not only would Jon be present but also her newly found adopted brother Daelin. A soft yawn made it clear it was time for her to have some rest. “Alright little sister it is time for you to rest. I will leave you and Jon here to settle in and rest. I will have dinner brought up to you around six o’clock. Perhaps you can join us tomorrow for breakfast if you feel up to it.” Daelin bent down and kissed Akira on the cheek and then left the room.

    “Come cara let’s rest and then you can take a bath or shower whatever you wish.” Jon climbed full into bed beside his beloved Akira and pulled her to rest on her head on his shoulder so she could draw from his body heat and he could assure himself that she was alright.
