Saving Akira (Complete)

Chapter 11

     It took her about ten minutes to get cleaned up and to go to the bathroom. Instead of calling for him like he told her to do she waltzed out of the bathroom. It was just a damn shoulder wound that was healing nicely. She had always healed quickly thanks to the panther that resided inside of her. In fact now that the pain medicine was wearing off Akira felt her panther start to stretch inside of her.  

     Akira stopped dead in her tracks and tilted her head a bit as she felt her panther move inside of her for the first time. She had always been able to communicate with her panther but had never felt the majestic creature inside of her move before. As she stood there trying to assess the panther’s movements to make sure she had indeed felt her Jon saw her and growled. “I told you to let me know when you were finished.” 

     “Stop Jon, please just for a moment.” Akira held up her hand to tell him to stay back for a moment. Blinking as he watched her a moment Jon stood still. A couple of minutes later she chuckled softly and spoke to her panther Well hello to you too. I have never felt you move before. What is going on? Again the panther stretched but also purred into Akira’s mind. Before long you will shift. Jon is the key he is your Mate do not push him away from us. I know you are scared and want to protect him but he wants to protect us too. Now hush and let him hold us. 

      “Akira are you alright?” Not waiting another second Jon moved to her and swept her up into his arms. Confusion filled her features as she looked up to Jon and nodded. The look of concern on his face only intensified when she did not respond verbally. “Why are you confused? Does something hurt that should not be hurting? Did you remember something?” Gently he cradled her against his chest as he carried her over to the bed where he sat down not letting her out of his arms. 

     “I am fine Jon. I…I…” She paused looking for the right words to use before she continued “I have never felt my panther move before. I felt her stretch it was an odd feeling. I mean I have always known she was there and have always been able to communicate with her but not once until a moment ago had I ever felt her move. It was an odd sensation is all. Now put me down. I can walk it is my shoulder that is hurt not the rest of me.” 

      Jon sighed in relief that nothing was wrong and held her closer to his body. “I was scared something else was wrong. It is a good thing you felt her move it just means it is getting closer to time for your first shift to happen. When you feel her moving more you need to let me know. The best place for you to shift will be in the mountains. Daelin has a place up there where the pride resides together so it will be a safer place for your first shift. And no I will not put you down. I intend to spoil you rotten while you convalesce. So get use to it.”   

     What was she going to do with this man? He was everything she had ever prayed for in a man and a Mate even though she knew she could not keep him. “Okay fine for now Jon. For dinner I want steak, mashed potatoes, corn, and a roll. The steak needs to be medium rare and the potatoes should have garlic in them. Since you say you want to spoil me rotten you can begin there.” Akira crossed her arms over her chest as she waited to see what his response was going to be. 

     Jon stood up with Akira nestled against his chest and walked out to the living room. Instead of placing her on the sofa alone he sat down and held her. “Daelin and Cam my Mate has decided she is hungry. Akira wants steak so I thought we would get her steak from Texas Roadhouse and I am buying. So gentlemen I will make a quick list of what we both want and one of you can run out and get it. Also check with the guys on duty Cam. They are being treated as well but make sure they know that it was Akira’s idea for steak tonight so they can thank her later.” Oh yes he was a cunning individual when it came to his small leap. It was his intention to make sure that his leap would adore her as much as he did. Quickly he scribbled down what Akira had asked for and what he wanted as well then handed it off to Daelin to write down his and so on so forth. 

     “I suppose it will do me no good to tell you that I am not your Mate just yet would it?” Akira glared at Jon as he shook his at her. “Fine. Whatever.” She huffed at him in response pulling a chuckle from Jon who then nuzzled his nose against her neck. A slight shiver ran through Akira’s body in response to what he was doing. Pushing Jon away would do her no good since he kept right on doing whatever he was doing no matter how much she tried to push him away. 

     It took Cam a couple of hours to round up the orders and retrieve their dinners from Texas Roadhouse. At some point during those couple of hours Akira had fallen back off to sleep in Jon’s arms feeling safe and content. Gently Jon laid her down on the sofa in order to get her dinner plated and to get her a drink. The split second he left her side she felt the loss of his heat and it woke her up. Stretching as best she could without causing more pain to her shoulder Akira looked around noticing the penthouse had filled with a few more people. Her gaze went from one person to the next wondering who they were. However, instead of letting Jon know she was awake Akira got up from the sofa and slipped away to the bathroom. 

     To her surprise when she opened the bathroom door Jon was standing there glaring at her. Without a word Jon scooped her up into his arms again. “I told you that I would carry you when you needed to go anywhere in or out of this house. Keep this up and when you are healed I will bend you over my knees and s***k that delectable little ass of yours.” The look in his eyes was all dominant again and she just knew that fighting him on this matter was not a wise idea. 

     When Jon sat down on the sofa he kept Akira in his arms instead of letting her sit there and eat on her own. He had already cut up her steak for her but when she went to go take her plate so she could Jon stopped her with a grin. Confused Akira looked at him about to argue with him but Jon knew how to stop that in an instant so he lowered his lips to hers in a soft kiss. Of course this shut her up her attempt to argue with him. Much to her surprise Jon then began to feed her making sure to take bites of his own food between the bites he fed her. No one had ever cared so much about her let alone fed her when she did not feel good. The way Jon held her and fed her, felt so erotic even though it was the simplest of tasks.  

     They ate in silence while the others were at the kitchen table eating their dinners leaving the two to enjoy each other’s company. Unfortunately, the quiet was short lived as the others finished and joined them in the living room. It was time for introductions and Akira was not sure she wanted to meet more people because that meant more friends she would have to leave behind. “Okay introductions are in order. You already know Cam and Daelin. The others present are Scott, Josh, Joe, Ken, and Nick. They are a part of my leap and will be taking the night shift on guard duty. Tomorrow some of Daelin’s pride will be here to take the day shift. You will never be without protection.” 

     Well crap this just made it even harder for her to run away from here. So now she had to figure out how to get around all of these bodyguards and Jon. There had to be a way to sneak down the elevator to another floor and perhaps down the stairs. Akira’s mind reeled with the possible ways to get out of there. But first she had to make sure she did not take the pain medication that was prescribed for her because she knew it would knock her out cold again. Unfortunately, Jon would no doubt not believe her when she said she was not in pain or in a minimal amount of pain. Damn. Damn. Damn. 

     “Jon I have a job to do and I am sure that everyone you have on guard duty have their own jobs to get to as well. I do not need to be chaperoned I know how to take care of myself. Seriously you are overdoing it.” Okay so she knew this was a futile attempt but she had to try just the same to get rid of some of these bodyguards she had acquired. 

     “Oh hell no, you are not going into work right now. You need to heal and those assigned to you are doing this on their days off so each night and day you are likely to have a different set of bodyguards. Though you will have no need to go out until you are completely healed and do not even try to argue with me over this. I can find a replacement for you at work because I will be taking care of you. Of course you will always by my date for functions.” Jon was being way overprotective but he did not care he wanted her safe at all times. 

     Scott who was already Mated chuckled softly at Jon because he knew full well that once Akira was back on her feet she was going to give Jon hell over his demands. Not many women are happy with being a kept woman especially one who has had to work for everything she has. Cam shot Scott a look to tell him to shut up. With his hands in the air Scott backed out of the room and headed to his post. 

     “I am getting sleepy.” Akira said as she faked a yawn. “I think I will go lay down again.” She tried to get up but Jon pulled her back to him. “Not until you take your pain medication.” Akira went to protest but was stopped by Jon’s next statement before she could say a word. “Do not argue with me either you know you are hurting.” 

     He finally sat her on the sofa so he could go and get her medicine. When he returned he handed her the antibiotic first along with a soda. Score! She knew exactly how to make sure she did not take the pain killer! Without a word she obediently took the antibiotic. As for the pain killer she placed it in her mouth then carefully made it look like she took it but in reality she had managed to put it into the soda and promptly sank to the bottom of the cup.  

     After she had taken the pills Jon picked her up taking her back to his bed where he tucked her in. “Rest well cara. I will be in shortly I know it has been a long day for you.” Gently he brushed a lock of her hair behind her ear then softly kissed her good night. “Good night cara.” Once he was satisfied that she was tucked in and ready to sleep Jon went out to join the others. 

     Oh yeah she knew her shoulder would wake her later hopefully after Jon and the others had gone to bed so for now she closed her eyes to get some rest. Much to her dismay rest did not come to her as the pain in her shoulder intensified. So what would any self respecting woman who wanted to get away do? Of course she faked being asleep every time someone came to check in on her. Akira knew the next few days were going to be rough on her especially since she knew she was coming into heat. With any luck getting away from Jon would put a stop to it since it was his body and his presence she was reacting to. 

     As she laid there Akira began trying to think of where she wanted to run to next. She loved the beach and being close to the mountains so maybe she should run to California since they had both of them. Yeah that was it she would go to Lake Tahoe! Hmm that presented a problem though. Jon would be able to track her. Damn. Well if she paid cash for her ticket and used one of the fake ID’s she had he might not be able to track her. But first she had to get out of the building. Now it was a waiting game.
