Chapter 1 Shattered Trust Josephine's pov I stared at the mirror dressed with a beautiful short red body con gown. Tonight was our final year school party, and I couldn't wait to attend the party with my best friend, ken. We had planned that he'll pick me up with his car for the booming event. We'd been inseparable since childhood, sharing every secret, laughter and dream. Bonding over late night pizza and sports; He's been a sweet soul since I knew him. As I kept staring at the mirror, a call came in. It was ken. “Hello Josephine, are you all ready and set for the party?” He asked. " Yes, I'm almost done,” I said. " I know ladies take time to get ready. if I come around now, I'll still wait outside for half an hour. He said laughing.” “I'll be coming in 30 minutes time, so be all ready by then.” He said. “Okay, no problem.” I said chuckling. The call ended. I quickly finished my makeup while I stared at my reflection again and again to make sure I was ok. “You're beautiful and good to go," I said, smiling at my reflection. While I was on it I heard a car horn " That must be Ken,” I said, staring at the clock and I realized the thirty minutes he gave me had passed. I was ready, but I double checked everything to make sure I had not forgotten anything. I quickly wore my pointed heels and headed through the door. Opening my front gate, my eyes met Ken's. He leaned against his car, eyes fixed on me. I walked towards him, shy from the look. “Stop staring," I said. We bursted into laughter. “My friend is looking all good and stunning, why won't I stare," he said chuckling. “Thank you, Ken," I said blushing. “You're looking good while slaying ken.” I said smiling. " Thank you, I tried to put this up,” he said. " Let's go, we're running late .” Ken said. I walked to the car, as Ken opened the door for me. We drove to the party venue, the anticipation hung in the air. The music vibrated, while students mingled with outsiders as we arrived. As we entered the party, the vibrant atmosphere enveloped us. We mingled for a while, but then Ken leaned in, his breath tickling my ear. “Joesphine,I'm going to catch up with my friends for a bit. I'll come meet you later." He said. “Go ahead, I'll be with my friends.” I nodded, smiling. Ken disappeared into the crowd, leaving me to scan the room for my friends. Immediately, I spotted Camille and Vanessa, waving at me. I walked to them, and we had fun, chatting and laughing at every slight thing we saw. I felt free, enjoying their company. As we laughed, I caught Ken's gaze across the room. He was with his friends, drinking and chatting, but his eyes frequently checked up on me. I felt flattered by the concern. The party intensified, music growing louder. Camille grabbed my hand, pulling me into the dance floor. Vanessa joined, and we lost ourselves in the beat, while we moved in perfect sync. We danced excitedly together. Suddenly Ken appeared beside me, his voice deep saying “Josephine come dance with me." I assessed him quickly, he stunk of alcohol but was conscious and aware. " Dance with you?” I asked, smiling. Ken nodded, moving slightly, his hand brushing mine sending shivers down my spine. Without waiting for my response, Ken pulled me close, his movement was steady despite being intoxicated. The music pulsed around us while we moved in sync. As we danced, Ken's grip tightened around my waist. His breath tickled my ear , sending shivers down my neck. Ken and I continued dancing, laughing at his amusing expressions and his dance step. But his touches grew more frequent, his hand lingering on my waist, getting to my butt and thighs. I didn't think of it, assuming he was unconscious of the frequent touches out of excitement and influence of the alcohol he drank earlier. “Ken, be cautious. Boundaries, remember ? I said in a playful way. " Yes ma, honest mistake." He said laughing. “ Let's get some fresh air ," Ken suggested, pulling me outside. The cool night air enveloped me, sending chills down my spine. “Ken what's going on,why are we outside When the party is inside.?" I asked, sensing a shift in his actions. “Nothing, Josephine. “I just want us to have our personal time, and get to talk, because I have something important to tell you.” “Inside, the music is loud.” Ken replied. “ Can't this wait ? We are supposed to be partying,” I said. “Besides, I can't stay outside because of the cold.” " Okay then, I'll take you to a quiet place inside, where my few close friends are seated. You'll like them. Trust me,” he said assuring. He led me through the crowded club, to a room door marked VIP Lounge. Inside the lounge was dimly lit, couches arranged, with no one in the room. “Where is everyone, why is no one here?” I asked, feeling weird. “They are coming, I guess they just left for a dance. Chill, you're safe with your best friend.” Ken handed me a drink, his eyes staring at mine. We toasted to success and good life and took a sip, staring at each other. Ken looked at me even more, smiling. “ You're so beautiful, Joesphine. I've wanted you for so long" he said. " I've always wanted us to be more than friends, but it seems you've not realized how much I truly admire and care for you, Josephine.” I giggled, confused on what he meant by wanting me and taking the friendship to another level. “Come to me Josephine" " I promise to treat you well,” he said in a low voice, pulling me close. “What do you mean ken?” “You're drunk?” why did you have to drink too much,” I said, assured he was drunk. “No, Josephine. I'm aware and serious of everything I just said now.” He pulled me close, his lips brushing my neck. “I Want you, all of you," he repeated. I struggled, but Ken's grip was tight. “Come on Josephine, you will love it, and get to love me too. “No ken, we are friends, and this is absolutely wrong.” I exclaimed. “It's time to take this friendship to another level.” He stuttered. I felt trapped, Ken's touch was intoxicating. His right hand touched my body, while he kissed my neck up to my face trying to press his lips against mine but I kept struggling, not letting him kiss me. “Ken, please don't do this," I begged, struggling to break free. He continued tracing my curves and thighs, sending waves of pleasure through my body. I couldn't deny the feeling of the touches, but I had to resist. “Josephine, you want this. I can feel it,” Ken whispered. His eyes burning with desperation. Fear gripped me, because Ken ignored my plea to stop. I cried, trying to break free but he was all over me. Suddenly a figure emerged from the shadows, swift and quiet. Approached Ken from behind. With precision, the stranger pressed two fingers against Ken's neck, targeting a pressure point. Ken's eyes widened, his grip on me weakened, as he fell to the ground unconscious. The figure turned to me , concerned. “ Are you okay," he asked. I stare at him with no reply, my heart panting and unaware of his next intentions. Who is he and how did he find me? I thought. “Who are you,” I said in a soft voice. I was scared and weak from my experience at the moment and I wouldn't dare trust anyone around me, not even the mysterious stranger.
