1810 Words
The weather seems outrageous as the wind strongly blows, while the already dark clouds only get visible when the thunder and lightning start to rumble, indicating that there will be a huge disaster coming. "Crystal!" Her parents keep on calling her from the shore while screaming their hearts out. Her father couldn't get to the boat to find his daughter because of the big waves. "I told her not to go too far because of the weather! She is really annoying me!" Her furious yet worried mother said. "Calm down, she'll be here just in time don't worry." Her husband tries to soothe her, rubbing the small of her back. "Just in time!? Look at the waves! What if something happened to her!? I should have put her in the tub this morning instead!" She said and abruptly walk towards the raging sea, "Aya! What do you think you're doing!?" Christian immediately grabbed her arm to stop her. "I can't stand here while my daughter is in danger, what if she turns? She will be drowned, Christian!" "And you think you can help her that way? You'll get burned before you can even dive in the water!" He argues. Meanwhile, the beautiful siren tries hard to wag her tail as she fights the mad waves and current to reach the island's shore. She didn't mean to be hard-headed and don't keep her parents' words but she was tempted when she thought that she saw the bloody pearl, a red pearl that is known to be the cure of all curses and pains, "Dad! Mom!" Crystal shouted while gripping at the big rock to avoid the big waves pulling her back to the sea, Her parents heard her calls but didn't know where her voice was coming from and so they kept on looking around. "Dad! I'm here at the rock!" She cried again until her father had a glimpse of her holding on to the rock. He quickly ran to her place and helped her get into the shore. Again her father wrapped her body with a towel and carried her to their cabin and waited for her transformation. "I already told you about the weather but you didn't listen to me! What if you have transformed before getting into the shore!?" Aya scolded her daughter while helping Crystal to dry up her human body in the bathroom. "I'm sorry mom, I just thought I saw the pearl and followed it into the deep but I was mistaken, it was just a small reddish pebble," she sadly said to her mother. Aya sighed and hugged her daughter, feeling sorry for her misery that she caused. "It's alright mom, don't worry about it, even though I'm cursed I'm still happy and thankful because if you haven't met dad and fallen in love with him, I will not be born in this wonderful world, so thank you." Crystal said in delight, trying to convince her mother to stop blaming herself. Aya just nodded and wipe the tears that escaped from her eyes, "Come on, cheer up!" Crystal giggles and then sniffs through the air with closed eyes. "That's smelling so good! What is it that father cooks?" She asked. "Chicken and vegetable soup darling," "Come on! Let's go, I'm hungry!" She cried, pulling her mother out. "You always are," Aya retorted, chuckling. "Of course mom! I've been swimming the whole day and that's very exhausting, you know." She said, shrugging her shoulders as they walked closer to the kitchen. "Alright then, so we'll just put you in the bathtub next time, just like when you were still a kid, remember?" Aya mocked her daughter. "Mom! No! I can't stretch my tail in the bathtub anymore as I used to when I was still little." Crystal argues while Christian chuckles hearing their arguments. "Don't worry, my princess, once I finish digging up the pool and polished it you could stay there when the weather is not good." He said and started serving the food he cooked on the table. "Thank you, Dad, you're the best!" Crystal complimented her father and gave him a wink. The ladies helped Christian to prepare their dinner on the table and prayed before they started eating. Suddenly, Crystal was curious about something and asked her parents. "What if we already have the cure, will I keep my legs and feet or my tail?" She asked as she kept on munching her food. Aya and Christian were stunned by her question and looked at each other. Christian put his utensils down on his plate before he face his daughter, "Crystal, honestly we don't know yet which one could it be, but whatever it is we will always be at your side, always remember that." "I hope I can keep my feet so I can stay on land with you guys." She sadly mumbled without looking at them. Christian hold Aya's hand under the table, "But if you keep your tail you can also go to the deepest to see the most beautiful place underwater, our kingdom, and meet our kinds," Aya added. But Crystal sighed with sadness. "And I will not be able to go to the surface again and see you guys because once I did the Ocean spirit will punish me," she mumbled looking down at her food. "If I got a chance and finally found the bloody pearl, I will let you take it," Crystal said looking at her mother, "So that you are able to go to the sea again and join me." She added with her sweet smiling eyes. Aya smiled back at her, "Anyways, what do you want for your birthday?" Aya asked her daughter, changing the topic. "Well," she sighed with a smile, "Since it is my eighteenth birthday, I suppose that you will grant everything I'll ask, will you?" Crystal asked her mother with urging eyes. Christian chuckles with his daughter's dare. "I felt like regretting what I asked earlier," Aya mumbled, shaking her head unbelievably. "Mom, I just want to see grandpa on my birthday, please? I promised not to elope again with dad if you just allow me this time," She pleaded. Aya turned and look at her husband before she sighed and said, "Fine, we will go at night before your birthday and come back before the sun rises," "Yehey! Can't wait!" Crystal stood up from her seat excitedly and hugged her parents. "I love you guys," she whispered. "We love you too, so much." The furious typhoon starts to hit the island with massive rain and wind that blows hysterically, extracting the trees from their roots and drowning their crops and animals. Christian stayed awake all night to guard his family making sure that they could survive the mad weather on the island. In the middle of the night, while waiting for the typhoon to calm, suddenly Christian heard a furious knocking at their door. He got alarmed and took his gun out from where it's been hidden a very long time ago. Aya and Crystal woke up with the noise and were told by Christian to hide which they quickly did. The knocking gets even harder and Christian pointed the gun and flashlight at the door where the unwanted visitor keeps on knocking. "Hello?" A man's voice yelled to know if someone is living in the cabin. "Who is there!?" Christian shouted back from the inside. "Sir I apologize for bothering you, my name is Gabriel Anderson and my yacht is being thrown by the big waves in the seashore. I just need someplace to spend the night. I hope you can allow me, please!" the stranger begged with a deep shaky voice. Christian peeks through the window to see the stranger, he was cold outside and very wet. Christian hesitates but he can't let the young man spend the night with furious weather outside. "Do you have any companions with you?" Christian asked, with a loud voice to match heavy rain's noise from the outside. "I have none, sir, I'm alone," The stranger replied. "All right, take five steps backward," Christian ordered and he saw the young man complied, He is only wearing a wet black hoodie and jeans while the baseball cap on his head doesn't even keep a strand of his hair dry. Slowly Christian opened the door still holding the gun in his hand. "Step forward with five steps." He commanded. The young man obeyed and stopped in front of the door where Christian is standing, he quickly fumbled the young man's body to check, and once cleared he let him enter their warm house. "I'm sorry for bothering you in this hour of the night sir, I just really don't think I can manage to stay alive outside with the weather." The young man explained while taking off his top. "That's fine I understand, the bathroom is there, I'll just get you some dry clothes you can wear." Christian offered and handed him a lamp. "Thank you so much sir," he appreciated the kind gesture. He looks around the house and was amazed by the simple yet beautiful structure of the cabin, they have a living room with a sofa and a small center table, two-room doors that covered with curtains, a kitchen with a round wooden dining table with three chairs and a bathroom and the only light they have inside is a lamp and the flashlight, they don't have any electronic inside like television and such. "Are you sure you can trust that man?" Aya asked her husband when he returned after giving his clothes to the man. "Well, he looks fine to me don't worry, if he does something inappropriate I will use this." He said putting the gun behind his waistband. "But what if he saw Crystal?" "Don't worry love, I'll make sure he'll leave before the sun rises." He assured his wife. While Crystal on the other hand was curious about the visitor and slowly walked out of the room while her parents were talking. She looked around until her feet brought her to the kitchen. Suddenly, a light that came from the lamp appeared behind her and that quickly made her turn. They both gasped in surprise, for Crystal, she is always excited seeing new faces, that's why she loves to go to the city and just making her grandfather a reason to go, but seeing the man in front of her now made her even more enthusiastic. She smiled with her eyes. "Hi," she greeted him While as for Gabriel, after dating a lot of beautiful ladies in the city he can't believe that there is still someone that is more temptress of all and that is the beauty in front of him. He swallowed before he smiled back at her. "Hi," he answered.
