Chapter Seventeen
“Come on!” Jon said to Eldy as he grabbed his bomber jacket and headed out the door. Jon couldn't wait to see Erika! He wanted to touch her and see that she was all right. This ordeal had gone on so long. He could only hope that she felt about him as he did her. He would find out shortly.
Eldy carefully maneuvered the vehicle through the busy streets of the burg. Traffic was unusually heavy for this time of day. The trip to the hospital was slow. Jon remained silent as his eyes were focused straight ahead on the bustling activity throughout the town. Eldy took notice of Jon's quiet demeanor.
“Jon, you're awful quiet over there!” Eldy attempted to engage Jon in conversation. He knew full well that Jon had his mind on Erika.
